I still think Thawne actually manipulating everyone is bullshit. It's so predictable whereas him actually being good would be interesting.
Barry needs an Arch-Enemy soooo....
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.FINALLY caught up with this. Yes, it really did take me literal months. I kinda have trouble getting access to a tv these days.
Anyway, I really liked it. Liked the way they took Thawne, and that we finally got an explanation for the red eyes and an implied one for his repeated improbable survivals (though Savitar previously said that the more you time travel, the less the rules apply to you, it's still nice to have another one). As for what the Negative Force means for Thawne's culpability, I think everything is still his fault and the show makes no apologies. He intentionally created a dark dimension that leeches power from a higher dimension and requires negative emotions to use, and then used it knowing all of that. The Negative Force might have made him worse, and has certainly made it impossible to ever stop being a villain, but it's still his fault for making it in the first place with full knowledge of the consequences.
Not a huge fan of Nora's sacrifice; pretty much all Arrowverse deaths tend to be "why couldn't you have done this blatantly obvious thing differently and survived?" But it was moving and everything. I loved Nora in general, but I knew she couldn't stay forever one way or another. Now I hope that Jessica Parker Kennedy comes back again, but this time as Dawn and with her brother Don, for an entirely different dynamic that lets us keep the same general idea.
When does the next season start? We didn't see the exact date on the newspaper, but if the Crisis is happening in 2019 then that has to be before the first half of the season is over.
I loved Nora, and her big sacrifice is great in theory, but it required throwing a lot of exposition at us very quickly, which made it feel a bit rushed.
Oh goody, another "only villains want immortality" plot. I mean, I'm sure there will be something horrifically wrong with the immortality he proposes, but can't we ever have a mainstream show that portrays immortality as good and successful? I know the Flash wouldn't be the best place for that for a number of reasons, not least being that it's a shared universe, but it still bugs me.

God dammit Mohinder!
I don't recognize the name of the character he's playing. Anyone got the scoop here?
One Strip! One Strip!Looks like he finally finished his father's research.
I'd like to take a moment to remember Hiro Nakamura quite possibly the only other TV superhero to drop the goddamned ball more than Barry Allen. But, at least Hiro got got to be Genre Savvy with time.
Anyway, Suresh/Sendhil. Just when I thought I was done with this show and the CW I am genuinely pleased this man found work on another superhero show after Heroes Reborn bombed. He was one of the better characters/actors, but coming back for that garbage was either a cry for help, an easy paycheck, or both. And I haven't seen him in any sci-fi/superhero anything since. Not that I looked that hard.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I'm not sure if Bloodwork will be a villain for the whole season. Maybe Thawne will take over half-way.
Anyway, no Arrow trailer yet?
(Legends was to be expected, since they start in January)

That's a good idea. Trying to make Cicada up front the big bad of the entirety of the previous season really didn't work, especially when they revealed everything about him within the next few episodes, then also revealed a way the heroes have of beating him soon after, yet had to fill an entire season still.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah. They still got a mostly good season with Cicada II, but I think they could have done better if they had defeated Cicada for good at the halfway point, and have Thawne as the only Big Bad for the rest of the season.
Thawne got beaten and escaped anyway in just one episode (same as Cicada really) regardless, I'm not sure it would have gone great if they dragged him out further.
Yeah, Thawne, at this point, isn't really a big threat to Barry anymore.
Cicada II was the biggest threat in Season 5. I mean, literally, the Team never won a single encounter with her. They had to erase her from existence to defeat her.

But in the version where Cicada gets conclusively defeated, he would just have more manipulation behind the scenes leading up to it.
Or maybe not. I really did like this season, even with Cicada overstaying his welcome. Ultimately, I think the part where he escaped the trap at the last second was the only real problem. The scene just needed some polishing to make it more believable instead of blatant Plot Armor because the writers weren't done with him yet.
Also, what was even the point of Cisco curing his powers? I thought that it was in order for Valdes to exit the show, but he seems to be sticking around.
It really seems like a simple budget cut now.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianYeah, it's super odd. Apparently he's basically back to where he was in season 1 but... why?
And he's still hanging around the team helping as a hero. I mean, if he just wanted to be a civilian, that would be one thing (though it's kinda like a soldier cutting off their hand so they can't hold a gun), but as is it just seems pointless.
I'm willing to believe that his Vibe powers were super annoying and constantly gave him horrific visions that he would rather live without... but we weren't really shown that. Hell, we weren't even told that.

Being able to teleport anywhere and in any Earth was a Story-Breaker Power that they never really utilized either. Also, if they needed another clue, he could just vibe it.
So, basically, they said, "He can use his powers too usefully, so we need to remove them."

Though, with how handy they've made those portable breach openers, a big chunk of his powerset is redundant.
Heck, when Joe used one to send Grace!Cicada to a cell at Star Labs, I got to thinking, "If you'd just set the coordinates for 'the Sun', all this would be over now."
I'll admit that Cisco's plot device powers were kinda annoying at times, but still, it just seems stupid/inconsequential.

Remember in season 4 when Cisco said he liked having his power? Cause evidently the writers didn’t.
