All that insanity over Morty having a Goddamned guilt complex over that asshole snake. The snake fucking bit him, he or she I think I'm not sure was a prick.
Fuck that snake.
Also praise to Jerry, he fucking did it.
Sure he wound up killing a bunch of people but hey what member of the family hasn't done that before.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Beth feels more likable in this season, but it's still pretty terrible that she doesn't have Jerry's number in her phone.
So "no time travel" is out of the window. WHAT SCI-FI CAN RESIST THE TEMPTATION?!
^No, what SERIES can resist it.
It doesn't matter what genre (of gameplay or story or setting) piece of media has, EVERY. BOOK. COMIC. GAME. RPG. Eventually does a time travelplot
Consider all the Doctor Who themes and main characters looking like the ones from Back to the Future, it was inevitable despite what the creators claim they weren’t going to do.
Seriously, lost it after the snake going back in time to save Snake Lincoln; only to create a Snake Nazi timeline.
Don't Judge me, need more views: https://www.deviantart.com/big-k-2011 | https://bigk1337.newgrounds.com/ | https://twitter.com/BigK64133I hate time travel plots, and it seems like Rick does too.
Fucking time travel, man.

Disgusted, but not surprisedWhat kind of person makes first contact with an alien species by biting them?
We've had time travel in an episode now and we can't un-have time travel. And Rick built a time machine, so we could do more time travel in the future, although Rick really seems to dislike time travel, which is I guess the main reason we haven't seen it until now I guess?
We're halfway done the season and we still haven't seen a single scene from the opening credits yet.
No, this is Snake Time Travel. A very different concept from regular time travel.
I kind of want some Snake Jazz, though. The little we heard of it was unironically nice.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Weird how there are multiple universes but not branching timelines within them; you can have smooth time travel by adapting the many world hypothesis into your work.
When Summer introduces her friends to Snake jazz, and explains how she came upon it, and her friends just accept her explanation without even batting an eyelash, that really speaks to just how desensitized to this stuff even the background characters are.

I seem to recall that the creators/writers of the show specifically wanted to avoid time travel - the only other time travel episode was a Bottle Episode with Rick, Summer, and Morty stuck in a garage and wasn't really a "time travel plot."
Seems they got over that.
Or at least they seriously consider lampooning Terminator with "snake time travel" a decent loophole.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Time travel also has this habit of attracting Testicle L. Jackson to beat the ancestors of the travelers up.
Not true, there was a scene from this episode in it. The "human" Terminator fighting robot snakes in the garage.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Somehow, I figured that would be the shot from an actual episode because while a funny shot on its own, the joke in the "Terminator's" design isn't actually obvious without context, unlike other jokes like a horrible mutated Morty, or Rick gearing up to take on Untitled Goose Game 2.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"Yeah, same.
I'm wondering if the shot of the guy punching Rick in the face after he pulls Morty across time and space is from an actual episode in the second half, since it seems too context-specific to be a gag in itself.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Well, I saw One Crew Over the Cuckoo's Morty. Yeah I wasn't super jazzed about that one. Just didn't work for me as much as the previous two episodes did.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)I really can’t comprehend just how little thought Morty put into all this.
Did he really think a civilization of obviously advanced intelligent snakes that managed space travel wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between their own actual astronaut & completely different snake from a primiative society?
It’s pretty racist or I guess xenophobic if you think about it. That or his guilt complex supersedes common sense.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Snakes, obviously. Didn't you ever hear the story about the Farmer and the Viper?
They kind of messed up with humans though, since mistaking Einstein for Rick (and beating the shit out of him) is implied to be the reason humans eventually figured out time travel. And the atomic bomb.

Disgusted, but not surprisedFucking Morty is an asshole. Now he can add the Time Police destroying the civilization of alien snakes to his resume. I blame him for that - not the Time Police. And he had to torment a random, innocent, normal snake, just to lessen his guilt.
Rick was fairly justified in punching him.
Morty was the direct cause of all this. He outright made the problem far worse than it needed to be & all because of some irrational guilt of an asshole that was always gonna die.
Lets be real here, if the snake's idea of a hello is a bite then any person it meets is gonna kill it.
About the only good thing Morty did is inadvertently saving Jerry & even that wound up killing a place full of people.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Even Morty's future self thinks Morty was an asshole and outright told him to fuck off.
Morty's becoming more like Rick everyday — he's even got the self-loathing down pat.
Technically that was Rick's plan. But Morty's bullshit is why Rick came up with the plan in the first place.

Disgusted, but not surprised
I'm fully on board with the "Morty is going to become worse then Rick" theory. Evil Morty is what our Morty will become if things keep going the way they do.
And yeah it was Rick's plan, but as you say, Morty is the reason it is happening. So Morty is the asshole here.

Man we’re those bar patrons major assholes though.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Without empathy, Morty becomes a sociopathic charmer and stockbroker — tiny American Psycho if you will.
He's killed out of anger multiple times, once even shooting Rick point-blank in the face (it was with a fake gun but he didn't know that).
He mutated Ethan in cold-blood as payback for Ethan worsening Summer's body image issues.
He inflicted untold death and horror upon the world following the death crystal visions out of a selfish desire for a girl whom he just cannot accept is not into him romantically.
Even when he has good intentions, he still manages to cause a lot of death and destruction. Freeing Fart in "Mortynight Run" nearly caused the extermination of all life in the universe and did cause a lot of Gear people to die. And of course there's this recent episode where his attempt to save a world of snakes was ill-conceived, brought invasions of snakes that nearly killed his family, and led to the snakes being retgoned by time cops anyway.
Disgusted, but not surprised
Jerry's b-plot was so utterly Jerry. Much better than the cat one from last episode.
Favorite imagery from the episode was the huge mountain of time-travel corpses piling up in and spilling out of Snake-Hitler's Reichstag.
Also hey! The return of the Time Police!
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
