Enter the Arena... As Your Avatar (v4)!

He tries to roll out of the way, but some of the crystal shards hit him. He takes some time to pick them out, wincing and (not-)cursing all the while, leaving him open.

Suddenly, Sombra unexpectedly turns away from his enemies, turns into black fog and rushes at Johnny, shaping himself into a gigantic shadowy head with a gaping maw ready to swallow him whole. If he succeeds, it will be Johnny's turn to start suffering a vivid nightmare.

"Enough... you will be... my ssslave..."

The Masked Man stops in his tracks and flies back to the others.

"This is our chance! Let's run!"

"We can't leave him!"

"He'll respawn."

"As a slave!"

"We obviously can't win!"

   "Speak for yourself."   

Lucas looks at them. He looks at the gun.

   "I'm not abandoning him."   

He aims the gun and a ray of PK Love is shot at Sombra to try and stop him from casting the nightmares to Johnny as well.

Sadly, this valiant effort proves to be for naught. Sombra's smokelike form is almost intangible, and the gun's shot just passes through. It would have had a better effect if it were a wide wave.

Lucas growls.

   "Then feel all of the power I have left! PK Love!"   

He releases a massive wave at Sombra. Ninten grabs him just after firing.

"It's no use! We'll save him later!"

   "What!? No! Don't you dare-"   

Ninten casts 4th-D Slip. The four teleport away drom the battle. But the wave was already fired and heading for Sombra.

Gotta go. Guess Sombra's reward will have to wait a little longer. See you later.

If he gets it at all, of course.

Even though the hatred-powered PK Love once again deals precious little damage to the King, it manages to at least disperse his shadow form partially and delay him, giving Johnny a better chance of dodging.

Sorry if I'm taking a while to post. Internet's slowing up.

"Well, shoot," he utters, just sitting there, frozen in fear.

Sombra gets to him, and a scene starts playing out in his head.

A large crowd is gathered in the lobby of a middle school, talking and whispering about some of the simpler things in life like video games, sports, the fight last week, the usual.

Then Johnny walks in, and...

Nothing happens, everything staying normal, other than a few others who are alerted to his presence.

"Hey, man!"

Another boy calls out from the crowd, wearing a shirt plastered with a pencil and an ID around him neck. A closer look at the ID reveals the boy's name to be Tyler. He starts weaving through the crowd, a green folder in hand.

"So, did you see the game last night?"

"Uhh... No..."

"Oh, right," another voice calls out. "You don't like football."

"Gah, Bailey," he groans irritatedly to the newcomer, having moppy, blond hair and wearing a gray and red hoodie.

"Hey, dude. No need to be so defensive."

Johnny chuckles, seeing a pun no one else ever thought to see. After getting a few odd glances, Bailey continues.

"Alright, so you would not believe how close the game was!" He talks on and on about the game.

Don't worry. It's coming...

The King regains his corporeal form behind his opponent, only to find out his main enemies have disappeared. The trails of magic emanating from his eyes furiously flare up. To top it off, his enemy doesn't seem to have been affected by his illusion... or is he?

Bailey continues talking up until the very end.

''So Reynolds is coming in, he's got the ball and the whole rest of the team on his back, he's about fifteen years from the touchdown, and...!" He makes himself look all dramatic for the reveal.

"And," Tyler asked flatly.

"They didn't get it."

"Hn," Johnny interjects, eyebrows raised in surprise.

"Yea, rest of the team sacked him. It was brutal. And if they'do gotten the goal, they would've won."

"Looks like he didn't make it past the stampede," Tyler joked. Johnny chuckled, and Bailey just stared, a disappointed look on his face.

"Don't ever do that again or I'll gut you."

"Oh, yea, Johnny! Your folder!"

Johnny looks over to see Tyler's hand outstretched with the folder in it. He snatches it from him.

"Oh, dude. I looked at some of your drawings in there. Pretty cool."

Johnny suddenly blushes a little, his eyes widening and moving ever so slightly to look at Tyler. A bead of sweat drips down his face.

Shoot... Did he see it? Please, don't tell me he saw it please don't tell me he saw it please don't tell...

"Johnny, you okay?" After not getting an answer, he starts reading his mind. Yes, Bailey's a psychic. No, this isn't some alternate-universe MOTHER thing, I promise.

However, after finding what was on Johnny's mind, his eyes light up and he snatches the folder away from Johnny.

"Wha-HEY," he yells at the top of his lungs, having no sense of volume control. Some of the other kids turn to see what's the matter.

:/ So much serious plotty stuff going on in here nowadays. Hell, from the sound of it, Porky's just about managed to weaponize the place.

Think I'll try and figure out how long we've been in the Hammond facility. It could be time for a setting change.

Nice Pink Floyd ref, by the way, Anolis. Shame it didn't really go anywhere.

The King continues waiting.

I need to go now, will be back in about half an hour, but only for 30-45 more minutes

We have been here for 858 pages. And the setting only changed to the Hammond facility in September. o_o

Nigh on a thousand pages in less than three months; you people are insane.

Told you it was a good setting. :P

Nah, it's all the politics with Psyco and Questor and Micool, with the Mother and the Metatron and the Magical Girls. The facility setting only makes any difference for Questor's 'bots.

honestly stopped checking cause of huge chunk of spoiler walls. it was getting boring.

Eh, that's not really much of anything to do with spoilers. But yeah; hardly anybody would ever bring in, say a Blood Knight or a villain, and the villains pretty much always got teamed against. :/ What damn near nobody ever did was just bring in a beast that would attack people regardless of alignment but wasn't powerful enough to justify a whole posse.

I think I can see where Anolis' dream is going, but I'll wait and see whether I'm right. If I'm right he gets cookies and also a good chance to break out of the nightmare
