Occasionally, "salty" is used to show that something is only for the particularly tough.

Yeah, all this stuff sounds bad, but most of them are extremely specialized and vulnerable organisms that can't survive outside of their tiny niche, so you're not likely to run into anything even remotely lethal. Unlike Ponyville, which is overrun by monsters every other week.

By the way, watched a bit more of Seasons Four and Five. Watched Hearthbreakers just recently. A decent episode. Reminded me a bit of the situation of Apple Family Reunion, only better handled since the Pies meant there was a better sense of conflict. I'm also starting to get on the train of liking Maud.
