Can it be? Is this real? Did Mayor Mare actually get screen time? And heaven forbid, lines?

And I guess Celestia now has a mint in-package comic book.

How did Spike's fire breath even burn the comic book? His breath doesn't burn things.

It burned the inside of a book in "Owl's Well That Ends Well" so maybe it does sometimes act like normal fire. I was going to guess that it depends on whether or not Spike is consciously intending to send something with his fire, but then I remembered that there was an early episode (possibly Griffon the Brush Off) where he got the hiccups and that caused him to accidentally send a bunch of scrolls to Celestia using his fire breath, so that might not be the case.

Rainbow: It could be that Spike can consciously decide what his fire does (since he's been seen sending message and flash baking things on purpose), but if he involuntarily does it, he has no control over which technique he uses.

EDIT: Story:

Maybe he ran out of MP?

This is entirely possible, although generally unlikely (just because the amount of spells he cast on you was fairly low). If you ever think/know an enemy is really low on MP, hit it with Osmose or Rasp. For enemies, hitting 0 MP is the same as hitting 0 HP.

Well that was a pretty fun episode. Classic Pinkie Pie.

One of Pinkie's many abilities is that of keeping a secret.

That doesn't mean it's easy for her.

It's interesting that we've got a good run of episodes lately, but they're good in different ways. We have a really dramatic episode followed by one that's pure comedy.

Well the gestation period is 11 months.

Watch. Premiere of Season 6 is going to be Cadance having the baby. The season's gonna end sometime in spring, then after the summer is over and Season 6 starts up, that'll be the premiere where Cadance has her foal.

I'm sorry if I sound sexist or something but is it bad that I want the foal to be a colt?

@Rainbow:

I'll be curious to see what type of pony the foal is going to be, since his/her parents are two different kinds of ponies (Shining Armor is a unicorn and Cadance is an alicorn who used to be a pegasus, according to one of the chapter books). I had thought before that it would be fun if Twilight became an aunt, because then there could be a scenario where she is the foalsitter for Cadance's baby, just like how Cadance was HER foalsitter!

This image has an interesting theory regarding that question.

To me, there are 2 types of MLP episodes. One where I am hyped and at the edge of my seat through the whole thing with characters who I am engrossed in and want to see go through a lesson, and another where I am reminded that I'm over the age of 30 and I'm watching a boring, basic show written for little kids who haven't yet experienced life. "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" is the latter. .... the conflict is JUST Pinkie trying not to tell a secret!? Didn't we just go through this lesson with her in Season 2 or something? Why focus an entire episode about it?? The whole episode seemed to be founded on one gag and it just redid it over and over and over! Uugh!

Positives though: - I did like the idea of Pinkie getting a taste of her own medicine, since previously she always pressed to Twilight not to tell a sensitive secret to her friends "or she'll be ridiculed foreverrrrrrr". :D - A lot of great Pinkie faces. - Shining Armor being an excited idiot over seeing his old things!

@kyun: No, there isn't any previous story that centers around Pinkie Pie hiding a secret, unless you count her being Twilight's secret keeper in "Green Isn't Your Color". The plot may be simple, but it hasn't been used before with Pinkie. And I also liked seeing Pinkie tested by her own "code" (don't tell secrets you are entrusted with and don't break Pinkie Promises), not only with keeping the secret but also with keeping her Pinkie Promises even when doing so put her in situations where it would be harder for her to keep the secret.

Final Fantasy 6: Previously on Story plays FF 6: Sabin gave up his title of Super Saiyan and became a dragonslayer. The battle pretty much consisted of Sabin and Celes alternating turns playing human popsicle while spamming heals to stay alive, until the ice dragon ran out of MP or got bored of using magic or something and Sabin just incinerated it.

Ice Dragon was the toughest boss fight I've had since Flame Eater, and my fight with Flame Eater was significantly hampered by the fact that I mistakenly thought fire spells damaged it instead of healing it. It's one of only four fights I can remember where I had a serious chance of dieing (the others being Lightning Whelk and Phantom Train).

I'm not counting Ultima Weapon in the 4 even though Sabin ended up with only 4 hp because I wasn't really trying. I could have dropped a heal at any time, but I decided to see if Sabin could win through sheer brute force before I resorted to tactics, and he did. Also not counted is the fight with Kefka in Narshe, even though he killed Sabin, because the other party wiped the floor with him.

In other news, I came up with a theory to explain why Cid's body disappeared. He was secretly the esper Quetzalli the whole time. And then when he died and turned into magicite, a poltergeist tossed him out on the beach or something.

Cid must have been a really good actor during his days researching espers with the empire.

Celes got her acting skills from her grandfather.

I wonder whether the real Maria will ever show up again.

Also, I found out that the line about the cult of Kefka spelling his name with Cs was a line added to the GBA version as a dig at fans, because apparently, fan translations usually spell it Cefca because that's more Japaneese or something.

Anyway, time to see what Valigammara's up to. I already know Valigammara's another boss fight because yesterday I walked up to it, but then hit rewind as soon as I saw a fight starting and turned around becuase I wanted to test the XP division thing still. And then after that I accidently ran into Ice Dragon and the rest is very abbreviated history.

Apparently it's actually named Valigarmanda.

Talk about an easy boss fight. Rising Pheonix does 6k+ damage and Celes can runic all its magic.

Or not. Sabin is frozen again.

Celes just cast Fire on Sabin. Luckily it only did around 250 damage. This really is going to be easy.

Celes did more damage to Sabin that fight than Valigarmanda did.

Wow, Valigarmanda gives +2 magic on level up. Well Sabin definitely needs that.

Sabin finally figures out how to jump off the cliff here. Apparently that one chunk falling off suddenly makes it possible. And Sabin's never been one to not jump off cliffs when the opportunity presents itself.

I am now in the Yeti's Cave, apparently.

A Tonberry just one shotted Sabin with something. I call shenanigans!

Celes raises Sabin and then Tonberry immediately kills him again. You've got to be kidding me!

Celes accidently raises herself and gets oneshotted by Tonberry. The party has fallen...

Luckily, I finally figured out how to do an ingame save, so I'm not kicked to title screen this time. So I won't have ot use my savepoint. Not that it would make much difference, but I think I keep more XP this way or something.

I don't have Valigarmanda any more. Guess I will just reload from my savestate.

This time my first encounter is 3 Illiyankas. And Sabin naturally gets impped on the first round of combat.

Celes unimps Sabin and he one-shots everything. Still, these fights are going to be quite annoying.

It's really annoying how you can't equip or unequip KO'ed party members. How is that supposed to work? It's a restriction that doesn't even make sense.

Hopefully swapping out Celes's peace ring for a reflect ring will help a little.

Would suck if I have to unfreeze her at some point though.

Found magacite inside a skull. I think I'll leave it be for now. I have a bad feeling about this.

And I'm already outside the cave. I didn't even get to half the chests orsee the yeti. Navigating the cave is really confusing with all the random holes that appear under you and the like.

I realized that there are slightly darker patches on the ground. I think that's where the holes appear.

3 Tronberries? This'll be fun.

For some reaosn, none of them used magic. Though due to their toughness they still managed to take out Celes and reduced Sabin to low health. And they didn't even give any XP at the end.

Also, for some reason they advanced across the screen throughout the fight.

Just used a Pheonix Down for the first time (on Celes). I had accumulated 22 over the course of the game from chests and the like.

Ok, think I've found everything in the cave. Still no sign of the yeti. Time to bother the skull.

Oh hi Yeti

The yeti just did "Green cherry" boosting all its stats. I guess you could say it Turned Red.

Didn't do the Yeti much good.

Celes gets Midgardsommr, which is HP+30%, compared to HP+10%, which is what she had before. It's like they're deliberately giving me more powerful versions of all the espers I'm using now.

Ok, time to try the backdoor of the mines. I've been to Moogleville 3 times already with nothing to show for it, but hopefully this time will be worth it. Lone Wolf did say Mog was still alive.

That annoying star puzzle is gone. I can just walk right through.

There's only one Moogle left.

This one can talk.

Sabin is surprised it can talk too.

Time to name Mog. This is actually something I was really confused about, beucase so far, every playable character has been nameable, but Mog already showed up earlier in the game, prenamed. I guess you get a chance to rename them once they join the party for good.

Mog wants to see the yeti, so time to go through the mines a third time.

Oh by the way, Celes reached level 41. She's now higher level than the corpses of Edgar and Setzer that I've been carting around. Sabin is 51.

Correction, Sabin just hit 52.

I wouldn't be leveling so fast if there weren't so many stupid random encounters. I can't go 10 steps here without being jumped by a bunch of suicidal monsters.

Ok reached the Yeti. Guess this is a good point for a break.

By the way, I decided to wait the post my FF 6 stuff until the discussion about today's MLP episode dies down, so I'll be combining multipe posts into one, leading to a super extra long post today.

Final Fantasy 6: It occured to me after the Ice Dragon fight that I was lucky that I made everybody learn healing spells way back when. Where by everybody, I of course mean Sabin, Celes, and Relm. Also Terra, but she already knew them all anyway.

Anyway, time to talk to the Yeti. Mog isn't actually in my party yet, so I'm hoping they followed along invisibly, because otherwise I'll look pretty foolish.

One other thing I've been wondering about is how scripted dialog works when the plot doesn't force characters to be in your party. Like how Sabin was surprised that Mog could talk. If you had different characters, would one have them said something similar? I wonder how Gau would react, given that he can barely talk himself.

Oh come on! The Yeti's still just saying ooooh. Don't tell me I have to go through all this yet again.

I wish Sabin was allowed to jump off cliffs and bridges in Narshe. That would at least speed the way back down into town.

Just checked Moogleville, and Mog has disappeared. I assumed that meant they were following me, but I guess not? Now I really don't know what to do. Guess I'll just return to the airship.

It looks like Sabin currently needs about a third more XP per level than Celes. So the xp formula is scaled to allow catchup, it's just fairly slow scaling.

I just realized that I forgot to check out the Force Shield I got from the Ice Dragon. Looks like it's really good against magic and doesn't protect against physical at all. Seems like it would be really useful but only in specific situations. Guess I'll forget about it for now.

Sure enough, Mog is now running around on the airship.

Mog is level 47 by the way.

Kicked out Edgar and Setzer and added Mog to the party. Time to see what they can do.

Mog tried to do Twilight Requiem and just stumbled. This is not getting off to a good start.

Mog now knows Love Serenade.

Mog just stumbled again.

I tried to do Love Serenade this time, and instead it said 'Will O Wisp' and there was a flame thing and one of the enemies died. I have no idea what is even going on with the dances now.

Mog tried to do Love Serenade again and stumbled.

Mog just learned Snowman Rondo.

Just gave Mog another chance and they predictably stumbled again.

Oh wow, the Yeti is a playable character? I definitely didn't see that coming.

It's named Umaro. I knew that there was a character named Umaro, but I assumed it would be a human.

At least Umaro explicitly told me that he'll be waiting at the airship instead of joining immeidately. Though as I had 3 party members, I'm not sure why he didn't just join.

Ok, I'm sorry but I did my best to give Mog a chance, and the entire time, they did nothing but be completely useless. At least now I won't feel guilty about not using them ever again.

Time to give Umaro a try.

Umaro is level 44 by the way, Why he starts out at a lower level than the previous party member to join, I have no idea.

For some reason I can't equip Umaro. I can give relics though. I gave him the hyper wrist and genji glove, since he seems to be a physical attacker.

First stop: The empty island in the northeast. I'm told that I should just walk around it for a while.

The first enemy is ... Zone Eater. And I have no idea what's going on here.

Looks like Umaro attacks on his own. He does a fair bit of damage too.

I am now in "Zone Eater's Belly".

Well that was weird.

Hey, there's a guy in there!

Shame I can't give Umaro an esper to boost his strength. Also, Celes has been disappeared, whatever that does.

Just realized you can jump between the bridges by pressing A.

I think I might keep Umaro. He's actually useful, unlike some characters.

Just got Fake Moustache. Which is only equippable by Relm and has no stats. Why does she get so many joke items?

There sure is a lot of zombiefication going around. I gave Celes the amulet, so at least she won't be zombiefied.

I will get across this bridge without being shoved off some day!

Finally made it.

Wow, that was a close one. Apparently the ceiling comes slamming down on you in this area, bowser's castle style. Good thing the chest was under a hole.

Oh man, the third hole has no identifying features by it. It's just one random square in the middle of the ground. And I was slightly off and got crushed. Cue sad Umaro.

And the next chest isn't under a hole. That's two crushings.

Three.

Ok, savestated at the third hole.

Made it. Thank god for sprint shoes.

Got a pinwheel for Shadow, and a Zephyr Cloak, which seems kind of useless. Also, a second heros ring.

Interesting puzzle here.

Well not that much of one. There haven't actually been any challenging puzzles in the game yet. Which is a releif I guess.

Though I still need to figure out what was up wiht that gravestone that talked about growing an egg.

What? Another character?!

It's Gogo!

He joined the party instead of heading off to the falcon. Also, he's level 47.

I should have realized that Gogo would be joining. I saw a video clip once where someone one-shotted Kefka by using Gogo to mimic a ghost's possess ability. Of course, I had no idea what was going on at the time. I thought they might have nicknamed one of the other characters Gogo or something.

So with Gogo, I can equip, but can't go to the abilities tab. Huh.

Now I guess I just go back the way I came? Ironic that the exit is right near the beginning.

Made it back past the crusher, only stopping once. Now that I dont' ahve to worry about chests it's a lot easier.

Likewise, I don't care about falling off of the bridge any more.

Sabin just got disappeared.

I still have no idea what Gogo's ability actually does.

I'm guessing that was the only thing to see on the island.

Ironic that I got 3 characters I'd never seen before added before I found even one of the old ones. Speaking of which, next stop: Mobilz. Someone told me that Terra is here, she's just hiding behind the 2d perspective.

She's with Katarin, hiding in a secret basement of the house that was formerly Young Lads and is now Duane's.

Guess Humbaba wasn't killed enough the first time.

Apparently Metero Strike actually does more damage than Razor Wind to Humbaba. I can't beleive I forgot to try physical blitzes. I don't think I've used any since Kefka, or possibly even Phantom Train.

Humbaba blew Sabin away, so Terra came out and entered the Avatar State again.

I've done Metero Strike so little that I still have to consult the instructions. As opposed to Razor Gale and Rising Pheonix, which I can do rapidly without even thinking.

I decided to just have Terra defend every turn while Sabin supplexed Humbaba to death to see if anything interesting would happen.

Terra wants to fight to protect the people she loves. In other words, Celes.

Terra joined the party. She is level 45.

You know, SATS leads to rapid level gain, but it seems that an even more powerful technique is SNNS (Standing Nowhere Near Sabin). It just takes a while to pay off.

Anyway, this seems like a good stopping point for now.

Yeah, I actually thought this episode was an interesting reversal of "Green Isn't Your Color" where Pinkie has to try to hold herself to the same standard she holds others to. Granted, I think they probably could've done a bit more with it and made her difficulty a bit more legitimate by having a real reason to want to tell everyone beyond the fact that it's good news, but it was still cool seeing her have that inner conflict.
