EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, they got married!
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.D'awwwww...
I'm getting kind of tired of the Old Woman Josie subplot.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Complaining about that with current developments goes vaguely into "you bastard" territory. Venturing myself into dark humor territory, it doesn't seem like that subplot will be lasting much longer.
It's a small town radio station. I'd expect these kinds of announcements from the DJ in that situation.
(V)(;,,;)(V)I mean it's definitely in character for him, this is probably more newsworthy than his dates for instance.
I suspect this arc, or at least this episode, has a political statement intended. Cecil's decision seems like a subtle stand against the new administration's war on journalism and facts. Government disinformation isn't funny when it's real.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWell, there's always been a bit of political criticism. Remember the libertarian dogs way back when? And in the middle of the City Council's general weirdness, some commentary about their boondoggle ventures. And Marcus what's his name. The rich guy who ran for mayor. Although yeah, a lot of my podcasts in general have had commentary of some sort on all the stuff going on recently, so I can't say I'm surprised it's in Nightvale.
Oh shit, Cecil's going to be arrested.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I've kind of been thinking that they just sort of gave up as regards the angels, what with their continued and blatant presence in the town.
So who's hyped for the return of Alice Isn't Dead?
So Cecil isn't getting into trouble with the City Council over certain, non-existent beings, all it seems to do is constantly set off annoying alarms.
Also, continuity shout outs at the end, a whole lot of stuff that got mentioned a long time ago are brought up in this episode, one particular thing more than others.
I thought the point of the Woman From Italy was that aside from the tendency of people around her to go into a trance and mutter in verse about how dangerous she is, she's actually harmless, but it now sounds like she might be a major part of the arc of the season.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI thought the point that she was yet another horrifying thing in their world, and people simply couldn't ever see her even with obvious prophecy warnings.
So the mystery of Cecil's backstory gets referenced for the first time in quite a while. I'm really wondering where this is going because it seems this arc is covering a heck of a lot of other plot points. I'm fearful that this is leading to a series finale, or something of that nature. On the otherhand that kind of thing just doesn't seem very Nightvaley.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. They've had arcs that looked like they were wrapping everything up before, only to foreground old background details and introduce new ideas.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWasn't the Huntokar thing mentioned waaay back at the beginning, with the Apache Tracker investigating the post office or something? Like, that's something that's been a background detail for a while now.
I feel it's come up more recently than that, but I don't know when.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I meant more that seems to the first time I remember it being mentioned, in conjunction with the Apache Tracker.
From the transcript of Episode 14:
"It takes very little extrapolation to believe that they worship a god named Huntokhar, who demands sacrifice to keep their Underground City thriving in the absence of nourishing sunlight."
So it's a name that originally Cecil seems to have pulled out of thin air, but since seems to be a real thing. Huntokar isn't mentioned again until Episode 91 when Cecil finds the name written on cockroaches on the titular 12:37 train, and again given out by the Transit Authority in Episode 97.

Avatar from here.Also @Alice hype.
Yes
So this episode we have a bizarre Perspective Flip on the tiny city under lane 5 of the Desert Flower Bowling Ally and Arcade Fun Complex
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Good job Night Vale, that was a proper mind fuck.
Night Vale After Dark sounds like it's going to be freaky.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Well, that was sad and somber and one hell of a callback. Good Lord.
I saw the spoiler and kept waiting for a trick throughout the whole episode. But hey it seems like nothing bad happened in this episode!
