I'm bummed we lost the scene of Alberto and Calendar Man talking with each other at the end, but it was an alright film.

I'm watching Injustice right now.

I'm sorry, but am I suppose to be siding with Batman?

For record, Superman manage to stop genocide and made Israel and Palestine agree to a 2 state solution.

Meanwhile, Batman disowned Robin for ACCIDENTALLY killing Nightwing while giving Superman shit for killing the fucking Joker. Not to mention not being there for Superman allowing crazy ass Wonder Woman to feed into Clark's despair, spying on Green Arrow, and infecting Cyborg with a virus.

And then there's the shit the US government pulled. Like congrats America, you got me siding with the authoritarian.

Something that made me wonder, if the soldiers accompanying the Mirror Master were aware that the old man they were kidnapping was the adoptive father of the guy who could kill them in less than a second.?

[up][up] That is one of my biggest issues with the film they did not show just how far Superman has fallen. In the games he pulls some truly insidious stuff that fully make him unsympathetic (Draco in Leather Pants aside) for instance in the games he murders protesters who speak out against the Regime, deposes of anyone critical of him, murders several heroes, brainwashed and enslaves even more people, planned to destroy two cities to set an example and killed a teenager for daring to speak out against him and lastly planned to build an unstoppable army to conquer the entire multiverse and brainwashed Batman and planned to brainwash Supergirl. And this is just the worst stuff.

Red Son also dealt with Superman forcibly trying to save the world and he’s sympathetic there too because despite everything he does it all comes from a genuine place of trying to save humanity from their selves.

Red Son gets a pass as it never intended its narrative to paint Superman as a full on villain and want to show the characters in the conflict in a greyer light.

This is where that movie fails as it tries to present a good vs. evil conflict between Batman and Superman but what is presented in the film itself barely convince us as such. Like we are supposed to boo Superman when all he did was take a more proactive approach reminiscent of his Golden Age days where he doesn’t give a fuck about the rules and the worst he did were murder teenagers . . . who were punk gangs that worship Joker like a matyr and would more likely pull Droodge style ultraviolence and rape after partying hard.

And our hero Batman, as mentiomed before, is a hypocritical ass too busy planning to take out Superman instead of consoling him over his lose and disowning his son over an accident. Seriously, it seems like he is worsening the chaos even more so then the Joker who created it.

Yeah, there's a big gap between killing a murderous asshole that destroyed everything you loved, then world dictator. Bats should've been more supportive after that.

Ya know it prolly doesn't help that the public is more revolting against Evil Superman stories or the general "Dark Superman" stories due to how ubiquitous they are.

There's the DCEU's infamously dour Superman introduced in Man of Steel and 2 of the most high-profile shows in recent memory, The Boys and Invincible majorly revolve around a deconstruction of Superman and arguably do it better than Injustice even so the latter isn't even that big a deal anymore.

Shit you can argue Homelander of all fucklords is more nuanced than Regime-Superman ever was.

Yeah, I only read the Injustice comics and watched some of the game clips for Blue Beetle precisely because the premise feels kinda tired.

Come on, show me an evil Batman using surveillance and manipulation to control everything for once.

It might be kind of hard when the good Batman tends to do that already.

Nah, we have plenty of characters in the evil Badass Normal niche already. How about more lighthearted stories whete the heroes actually accomplish some good? Or have Superman just pretend to be evil to thwart some evil aliens. They can't conquer the Earth! Here's a "certificate" showing that he's already done it.

[up][up][up][up] & [up][up] I think that specific want is more Murder Machine's thing than The Batman Who Laughs, but yeah. If you want a specific evil Batman archetype, Dark Nights: Metal provides.

Red Son also gave us an evil Batman, considering the lengths he was willing to go to and that he had no problem killing innocent people in his crusade against Superman.

"I'm tired of this character I like being turned evil. Why don't they turn this character I don't like evil instead?"

I understand your frustrations but turning it against fans of that character is not the way.

Good point. How about instead of turning certain characters evil, we actually just....use the villains.

[up][up] Or, OR! Hear me out! Someone might think it would be an interesting premise for an Elseworld story.

Not everything has to have anything to do with character "staning".

I did have an idea for a Batman goes evil Elseworld's where he sends all the adult heroes to a different universe and indoctrinates all the younger teen/adult heroes into his obedient army to enforce absolute order.

So the only ones left to save the world are the former arch-enemies who have decided to form their own Justice League, including a Batman Joker, Robin Harley Quinn Superman armored Lex Luthor, Cheetah and Black Manta decked out in armor comprised of Amazon and Atlantean artifacts, Captain Cold, and Jason Todd.

Has Batman ever actually defeated a Kryptonian criminal from the phantom zone?

KnownUnknown Since: Jan, 2001

Maybe? Maybe not, though. There have been time periods where you had Phantom Zone criminals popping into the DC universe like rain, one on every corner. Across DC's long history they're likely to have fought many heroes.

But on the other hand, Phantom Zone criminals are typically Superman enemies, and DC typically likes to have characters defeat their own Rogues even in team-ups (or if not, still in the course of teaming up). I can't think of many situations in which Batman would be encountering a Phantom Zone criminal by himself.

I think Bats and Supes fought Phantom Zoners together in the older Batman / Superman title, though.

I'm not fond of the 'superhero goes evil' in general but the fact it's so specifically used with Superman or Superman expies is why I brought up Batman.

Interesting and engaging plots and characters can be made with the idea- after all, I do like Invincible and there's a reason the Justice Lords arc in JL/JLU was fondly remembered- it's the over saturation that gets annoying.

Bringing it up with Batman doesn't work if that what was you were going for, because he or expies of him gets turned evil all the time too (which is again why bringing up Dark Nights Metal is relevant there) - that is, when people aren't making Memetic Loser expies of him.

Hell, sometimes he just straight up goes heel in canon.

That's actually a good point.

To say nothing of the numerous anti Batman memes (some of which aren't particularly fair or even clever).

....ok, how about an evil Flash then?
