[up] For those saving a click (because context is key):

We're getting new DC Showcase shorts featuring:

  • Kamandi, The Last Boy on Earth!
  • Blue Beetle
  • The Losers
  • Constantine

As it was before, the shorts will be featured in the releases of upcoming DC animated movies. For example, the Kamandi short will be packed in with the upcoming Justice Society: World War II movie. And like DC Showcase: Batman - Death in the Family, the Constantine feature will serve as a compilation set for this batch of Showcase shorts in 2022.

And if I'm honest, I jumped when I saw Blue Beetle's name...though unfortunately the press release doesn't elaborate on which Blue Beetle will it be. (Maybe all three of them?)

EDIT: It just occurred to me that "The Losers" was the name of both a team from WWII and an anti-CIA team. And there doesn't seem to be any implication on which one the DC Showcase short will feature.

Hard to say, since they made that Sargeant Rock short already, but who knows.

And the Blue Beetle stuff has recently focused on Jaime, although Ted is a possibility. The original, though, I think hasn't come up for a good while.

It's announced as "Blue Beetle" and not "Blue Beetle and Booster Gold", so it's most likely Jaime.

Huh. Was wondering why Modern Flash was in the Thumbnail....

Little annoyed at that. Was kinda up for a purely old school JSA thing.

But at least it's not Batman.cool

So they gave Diana an accent similar to Gadot. I guess that makes sense.

That's some sweet looking animation.

I'll give them mad props if this is the same Flash we last saw running towards the Speed Force at the end of Apokolips War.

Fair enough.

I thank you for instantly countering any attempt to dunk on Barry.

Flashpoint turned him into the idiot responsible for everything. Another example of writers ruining a character by making them do something dumb to facilitate the plot.

That and the fact that Zoom is allowed to fuck up the timeline with no consequences, while Barry's attempt to put it back proper completely nuked everything, which is very unfair.

[up]At most it might take cues from Last Days of the Justice Society the same way Man of Tomorrow took some cues from Superman: American Alien.

[up][up] Have you read that somewhere? I don't see much similarity, at least from the trailer, outside of both having the JSA invade Nazi Germany.

[up][up] Since we have Barry Allen coming from the future, I presume that having Alan Scott may be a bit awkward... unless they want to retcon him to having the same weakness as the modern Green Lantern. I also think he might be confused with Hourman since, I have to admit, I thought Hourman was Alan Scott at first glance.

[up] I want to assure you I'm not picking on you here, but I don't honestly see how anyone could confuse Alan (Green Lantern) Scott for Hourman.

Dr.Fate an Aquaman are also slated to appear in this film, in some capacity, though I don't see them in the trailer.

I'm thinking about whether the JSA members we see in the trailer are all we'll see, my guess is a couple more will appear in the movie.

  • Spectre - YES
  • Atom - NO
  • Johnny Thunder - YES
  • Green Lantern (Alan Scott) - NO
  • Sandman - NO

My justifications: Spectre is linked into Justice League Dark, so he may play a part in the "timeline problems" issue. Johnny Thunder is very different from any previously used character, so it's a cool one to introduce. Sandman: no because Morpheus. The Atom: wouldn't really add much. Maybe in a post-credits scene, or a bit part as a not-yet-superhero scientist. Green Lantern: saving that one for a GL Corps-centered big event.

I wonder if Candle Jack also pays attention to signat
