Innsmouth 1773 Interest Check

It is the year 1773, the American Colonists and The British Empire are getting angrier and angrier with one another, reaching a near fever pitch after the recent Boston Tea Party. Now, the particular interest in our tale is the town Innsmouth, a seaside trading town on the coast of Massachusetts where there are some...unique going on, not to mention the legendary oddness of the locals and the horrible rain and storms that seem to go on every minute of the day, The Natives consider it cursed, the slaves consider it worse. The strangeness is spreading, British and Colonist ships are either arriving completely empty or with their entire crew gibbering lunatics to their ports, books bound in strange leather and written in a seemingly inhuman languages are appearing in libraries and bookstores all across the thirteen colonies, strange murders haunt the back alleys, and rumors of strange creatures lurking beneath the waves and human sacrifice pervade the culture of every town, now you are going to this town, Innsmouth, and shall see if the rumors are true...

This is an interest check for a historical Lovecraftian Horror set in the period a year or two before the Revolutionary war as you enter the city that God forgot, no matter who you are, Escaped Slave? Native Warrior? Colonist Hunter? English Spy? The elder Gods await.

I am... rather pedantic when it comes to roleplays set in an actual earth-history setting.

I did minimal historical research, but I love the works of Lovecraft.

Any room for a preacher?

• Name: Parson Jonathan Pickman
• Appearance: He's tall, slender, and just on this side of gaunt-looking. His long, brown hair is tied back in a ponytail, his sideburns are beginning to grey. He wears a long, brown coat and simple villager's pants. Also, he is never seen without a small, silver cross around his neck.
• Bio: When John Pickman was just a boy, he had heard stories of strange creatures that haunt the dreams of witches and warlocks (we might call them "sensitives" today). So, it came as no surprise that when he started to have dreams of eldritch monstrosities rising from the depths of the ocean, he kept them a secret from everyone and entered the service of God in an attempt to cleanse his soul. He became a respected member of the church by the time he reached his twenties and became a missionary when he turned thirty. Now in his mid-thirties, Parson Jonathan Pickman has become quite concerned with the recent developments surrounding the town of Innsmouth, as well as the resurgence of the nightmares of his youth. With the help of the Almighty, he hopes to cleanse the town of all unholiness.
• Abilities: As a Sensitive, he occasionally has prophetic dreams (though he rarely believes them). As a Man of the Cloth, he has the ability to Bless people, objects, and places in the name of God. He possesses basic survival skills (hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting) from his time spent with militiamen and savages.
• Equipment: The parson travels light, carrying only a small satchel of beef jerky, a canteen of water, a worn Bible, and a small flintlock pistol with about three dozen rounds of ammunition.
• Weaknesses: His greatest liability is his closed mind, and unwillingness to believe in anything "magical". Also, he is about as durable and able-bodied as anyone of the time in their mid-thirties.

Here's my Native American warrior

• Name: Black Wolf
• Appearance: A tall and slender Bishounen in his late teens with long jet black hair and deep brown eyes, clad in typical buckskin attire for an Iroquois of the 18th Century.
• Bio: A young and inexperienced Iroquois warrior, and a decent hunter, Black Wolf is a loyal member of the Iroquois tribe near Innsmouth and dwells in the forest. Being a Native, he is distrusted and hated by the colonists of Innsmouth, but they do accept trade with him, and he does trade animal hides and meats for money and other goods to bring back to his people in the forests. He has had no contact with the supernatural, yet.
• Abilities: Black Wolf is trained in combat, but has never actively fought in battle, and having to hunt and forage for food, he does know how to track and hunt game as well as survive in the woods for periods of time.
• Equipment: A steel knife he bought in Innsmouth, as well as a traditional bow and arrow used for hunting. While others in his tribe have taken up using firearms, he finds muskets to be too loud and slow for hunting.
• Weaknesses: Black Wolf has a weakness for beautiful women, regardless of whether they are Natives or Colonists and often finds himself infatuated with women his age.

• Name: Duncan Leamas
• Age: 33
• Appearance: Short and round, with no military bearing whatsoever. He wears an old blue coat over his dirty British uniform.
• Bio: Duncan grew up in Ireland hearing the tales of fairies and other creatures, but dismissed them as just his crazy gran's stories. When times got tougher on his family's farm, he joined the British army to help the family. Now, they're thriving in the Old Country, and Duncan wants to go back.
• Equipment: A beat-up musket and bayonet with five musket balls and an empty horn of gunpowder, all of it stolen from the British army.
• Weaknesses: Duncan is slower than most, literally and figuratively.

Here's my submission, seeing that Karl Kadaver beat me to my first idea (thanks ):

• Name: Kweku Kwame Morgan
• Age: 27
• Appearence: Has the muscled, weathered look of a lifelong sailor. Seems to always have half-grown stubble around his chin. Racially, he is a mulatto.
• Bio: Conceived in the West Indies as the son of a British soldier and an African prostitute, Kweku took to the sea at an early age, taking part in the infamous Triangular Trade. With his ship docked in Boston Harbor for the month, he's taking this opportunity to scout out new trading options in Innsmouth. At least, that's his official story...In fact, it was the rumors of strange goings-on that piqued his interest. He generally doesn't mention it in polite company, but he is a devotee of the Vodun faith (Voodoo), and if what he hears is true, the true gods may be coming to the new world — a happening he needs to see for himself.
• Abilities: Under his mother's tutelage, Kweku learned how to perform simple Blood Magic. Nothing too dire, but he can sacrifice a chicken or a goat in order to gain the blessing of the spirits (so that, for example, he finds an undiscovered purse of gold) or bring down their curse on his enemies (so that his rival suffers an accident and is laid low with a broken leg for a month). Such actions, however, tend to lead him weakened and paranoid for a set period of time [think of the effects of a bad acid trip], the bigger the favor the longer the after-effects. He also knows rudiments of folk healing of a more mundane sort from his time on long sea voyages.
• Equipment: A pistol, a pouch of herbs imbued with healing properties, and a fetish of his guardian spirit.
• Weaknesses: Kweku is addicted to the demon rum. He suffers from drunkenness when he can obtain it, and withdrawl symptoms when he cannot.

Is it to late to design a character?

Assuming it isn't too late to design a character here's mine.

Name: Desmond Walsh

Age: 29

Appearance: Desmond is your standard Irish man. He has a bright red shade of hair, and light skin. He wears normal colonial clothes. He also has multiple scars on his body, including one on his cheek.

Bio: When Desmond was very young his family traveled from Ireland to America. Growing up he was raised on a farm, and taught the ways of his Celtic ancestors. Because, his family was very superstitious they told him stories about different strange, and dark creatures, but he was never sure whether, or not any were true. When he grew older he set out to become a hunter, he actually became very famous in the surrounding area. Eventually he decided he wished to see the rest of America, and began a journey of traveling from one place to another, usually staying no longer than a few months in any one place, he gets by from selling the skins of the animals he hunts.

Abilities: As a hunter Desmond is very skilled at tracking, and foraging for food. He's also a dead-eye shot, and can survive in the wilderness for short periods of time. Thanks to teachings from his father, Desmond is also able to wield a sword with moderate skill, but hasn't done so in months.

Equipment: A musket, A bag containing about 40 musket balls, A hunting knife, and a bible.

Weakness: Desmond can be very greedy, and will do most things for money.

Accepted, though I don't think this thing is alive.
