[up][up]Considering that Doug and CA are apparently still doing pretty well financially and in terms of actual subscriber numbers, I'd say he's not a Fallen Creator. At least, not compared to most of the entries on that page.

[up]Of course Electronic Arts and Konami are still doing very well financially, but they have fallen so bad reputation-wise in the eyes of fandom that they were given an OK to be put on Fallen Creator. (Certainly that won't stop them from getting subscribers as well for those who are capable of ignoring their bad raps)

Doug and CA felt kind of similar to them in that regards.

I think with such a mass exodus over their behavior. NO ONE wants to associate with them. I think that's more than enough.

[up] Eh, I'm not sure about "no one." Aside from Brad Jones, they still do stuff with Cinemassacre and The Nutcracker in 3D review featured cameos from some big YT names, like Andre the Black Nerd or Cinema Sins. And there are still creators who has expressed interest in working with Doug, like PhantomStrider.

I guess if you really want to make an entry, you should note that Doug and CA are still quite successful and have actually increased their subscriber count and still make appearances at cons.

It's just, in the eyes of people who were fans of the "original" CA and the people associated with CA, his reputation has fallen.

They're fallen in some aspects. Namely, they weren't such a gigantic name that made a majority of people praise them anymore, just like the past before the incident broke out. I'll accept that they can still make appearances in cons, but it wouldn't be as big as they were before.

That said, I'll try if I can make the proposal. Accepted or not, I'm OK with it.

[down]That's the plan.

If you're going to make a proposal, try to frame it as CA qualifying because they went from "almost universally beloved and held up as an icon and pioneer of internet criticism" to "rejected by former associates and older fans due to shitty management practices and other poor behavior".

IMHO, they still haven't fallen nearly as hard compared to a lot of the entries on the page.

Yeah, Doug is still immensely popular. The first 2-3 reviews after the whole controversy were laced with negative comments relating to it, but after then everything went back to normal, with slightly reduced subs.

"Immensely" might be stretching it a bit − his channel has 1 million subs, which isn't that much (both the AVGN and the Joueur du Grenier in France have 3 million subs for comparison). But he's been a big influence on youtube in the late noughties and early tens, even if his style is a bit behind the times now.

I think a lot of youtubers would be over the moon with a million subs, though. It's still a lot.

That probably speaks to the strength of Channel Awesome's brand. They can lose nearly all of their content creators and a ton of fans, yet still be massively successful by the standard of other such channels.

Kind of like how an MCU film can underperform with box office sales that any other franchise would kill for.

[up] Eh, I don't know. I feel that if they had been completely cool about the whole thing, they wouldn't have bothered with posting that second response. (Of course, that's assuming they thought it would diffuse the situation, for some reason.)

How about not shaming people for what they like to watch? This is certainly not the way to convince them to stop.

AVGN has been on You Tube way longer than the Nostalgia critic, who resisted using YT at all as long as possible. Plus, subscription don't really line-up with viewing numbers. I was never subscribed because I avoid channels which churn out too much content too often. I guess that would be nowadays not quite the case anymore, though.

look you got people that will straight up tell Alison or Lewis that despite being fans and being aware they still watch doug... like they're confessing their sins

and a large chunk of them come off like they want to be punished 'a couple of them are doing it cause they're assholes digging for a reaction'

... Look at this point, If you are watching Doug inspite of what he's done, You've Justified it to yourself

A couple of you act like you just need that one little push and you claim you'll quit cold turkey but he ain't pushed you that far yet... and He probably never well.

The only people I don't understand still watching Doug are the ones who will tell you they feel guilty about it but won't give up cause I guess giving up on Doug's just too hard

I kind of got bored with CA after TBF myself.

This whole reveal that Doug and his cohorts were horrible bosses didn't make me quit CA, but it is reinforcing my decision to never go back to watching it.

My opinion on Doug and Rob started lowering, when i started noticing a lot of failures at research (or complete lack of thereof) and outdated stupid jokes. Phelous make far better researched videos than Doug ever did. Just compare the reviews of "Wicker Man" remake from each and you see the difference:

Doug’s casual sexism in his Sailor Moon review and being dismissive of the criticism he got for it was what started turning me off from him.

I actually liked his Wicker Man review. Especially the fact that he did NOT use the tired "Not the bees!" joke.

Simply put, Phelous goes in to details about how remake fares compared to the original (including scenes that were almost completely the same in remake, only more hilarious). Also he noticed several blink-or-miss scenes in the remake, that were supposed to serve as big plot revelations (like female cop apparently being part of the cult) and made great jokes from it (like making fun on the whole stupid convoluted plan of bringing males to an island and sacrificing them), which Doug completely missed and instead replaced with lame outdated jokes.
