Big Bird is now with Mr. Hooper up in heaven.
Caroll Spinney, the puppeteer for Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch passed on today from Dystonia.
He was 85.
A real shame. :-(
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!I don't think they are going to get rid of Big Bird or Oscar, both are iconic to the show.
I wonder if they are going to do a tribute through Big Bird.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I don't think he's been actively working for a few years, so they'll just continue with the people performing the roles now.
I had the honor of meeting him a few years back at my local con. I didn't say much to him except that I was honored to meet him, but he was a very nice man. He was back this year, and it was his very last con appearance - officially, because he planned to stop making them after this one... but now for good as well.
Sesame Workshop has other people who've been doing the roles. They can fill his shoes and have been for a while. But everyone knows we lost a legend today.

These images from this 2018 tweet are from today's episode "The Disappoint A Meter". Even though Caroll Spinney recorded his last lines for Big Bird and Oscar here, we still hear Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson. Their voices here sound a lot smoother, compared to Caroll, where his age was starting to show.
A part of me wants to hear his performances, just for old time's sake.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!I'm still trying to figure out when his last performance as Oscar was, but I do know his last performance for Big Bird. It was the cold opening of the season 49 episode "Elmo The Engineer", where he was explaining to Grover what engineering was.
I found an article that talks about how the "Elmo's Playdate" special was made. Most of these special episodes usually take at least 7-9 months to make. This special was put together in 3 weeks. It also talks about the challenges of characters with articulated hands since it means at least two performers for the character (one performer uses their hands for the mouth and left hand while the right hand is done by an assistant performer). It mentions how David Rudman's daughter helped him operate Cookie Monster's right hand while his son filmed them. And then there's the idea of splicing together footage for characters with family members. It's certainly interesting.

Oscar The Grouch says to vote.
Season 51 of Sesame Street premieres November 12 on HBO Max.
In the end Count von Count was the real hero of Sesame Street.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. The street story for today's new episode, "Family Day" , was put on You Tube.
Season 52 comes out Thursday November 11.
Dark Horse Comics is doing a post-apocalyptic Sesame Street series called Survival Street.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I thought the SNL Joker parody was low-hanging fruit, then they did it for real...
It does seem less like a gritty reboot and more like a gritty reboot parody done by parodying Sesame Street, but still.

The infamous episode #747 has been found!
I’m just putting the Street story, since that’s what we’re all here for anyway.

Watching the episode now.
Scariest part so far is the "alphabet soup" sketch. Poor Grover.
I used to work in food service, so that sketch resonated with me.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Wonder how long that clip is going to remain up for, there's a reason they've never aired it again
New theme music also a boxAs one Youtuber said, the owners of Sesame Street might try to demand taking it down, but it might not do any good, since it's already been leaked, and likely lots of youtubers have already made copies.

Does anyone else here really love classic Sesame Street?
Is it 🍪?
No it is not a 🍪.
Bye-bye

And a bit of a more obscure one with Bip Bippadotta and a bunch of anything muppets, doing a variation on Mahnamahna routine.
And what are your guy’s favorite sketches?

I like this one where Ian McKellan teaches Cookie Monster about restraint.
And this one where Liam Neeson makes counting to 20 sound like an epic Shakespearean speech.
Here's a screenshot of the lost episodes "Snuffy's Parents Get A Divorce" and "episode 847" that was shown at The Museum of the Moving Image in New York City.◊
Audio of "Episode 847" has also been added to the Lost Media Entry.
