This is probably a Tech Wishlist thread. Hollering.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Moved.
I'm going to guess that it's something to do with the way the redirect from Main.GEICO works...
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I can't reproduce this behavior. When I search for GEICO in the custom Google search, all the non-sponsored (TVT) links go to the proper article.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"What does "search in the forum" mean, anyhow?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI search "geico", the first link is to the Main/ redirect, opening in a new tab works fine, clicking directly gives me a blank pagenote . Not the CC license, though.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I get redirected normally (Why is there a redirect there, anyhow?) if I search on Google, either in a new tab or here.
Sure you didn't misclick? I sometimes end up on the license page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman I meant "search in the search bar". I think that was a mistype.
The second link goes to the CC license. The problem with the first link only started happening after I created created this thread.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I'm not misclicking.
Link order likely varies a bit for each of us, because of how Google filters results. This is why one should specify the page one is clicking on.
Hm, that's odd. Clicking the link to Advertising/GEICO that comes up... doesn't work. My cursor becomes the little clicky hand, but clicking the link does nothing whatsoever — no page, the right one or not, loads, no interaction is had... Other links in the search results work fine (other than the Main/GEICO one).

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. After a quick experiment, I'm not seeing this bug either. Could it be browser specific? (In case anyone forgot, I use Firefox.)
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I just tried it again, (using Firefox) and it went to CC. I tried with Chrome and it worked fine. Same with Android. Don't know what that means.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I'm getting the same bug using firefox, but not in IE.
Advertising.GEICO takes me to the CC page and Main.Geico is just a blank page.
Edit: This seem to happend with all Advertising pages, the main redirect doesn't work and the Advertising pages goes to CC.

Try disabling your ad blocker.
They all work for me. A badly working adblocker?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI tried it with Adblock Plus disabled, and it worked. I imagine the namespace "Advertising" is a giant red flag for ad blockers. I don't think there is anything we could do about this other than change the namespace, but I'd hate to do that.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. You can add "@@||*vtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/*" as a custom filter, that whitelists anything with "vtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/" in it(, and that fixes the problem).
(Using Adblock plus too, obviously.)

I run AdBlock Plus as well, and disabling it did indeed fix the problem. Thanks for the suggestion, m8e.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Worked for me, too.

I recently created a page for GEICO. When I search for "geico" in the search bar, the second link is directly to the page, but if I click on it without opening a new tab, I get: "This wiki is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License."
It's only happening if I get to the page this specific way, but I'm concerned this article is being seen as an advertisement and somehow violating a policy. Of course, it's just a page to list tropes seen in GEICO commercials, and is in no way advertising. Can someone please tell me what's going on here?
