I thought Forge trying the same escape attempt would fail by means of him accidentally letting go and falling out the window to his death. Haha.
I decided to watch this movie after playing lots of Baldurs Gate 3 and man this was a ride. They even have checks in the movie! The last DND movie I watched was the So Bad, It's Good one with Jeremy Irons and it's a nice change of pace to see something that's legit good. Also particle effects. So fucking good.
Shame they have no non-human party members. You'd think one of them would be a dragonborn. Even the first movie got a Dwarf. And was Doric really supposed to be half tiefling? I'm so used to how BG 3 depicted them.

There's a Tiefling but she looks too human. She's technically a full Tiefling BTW.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I mean, she's Truer To The Texts.
Tieflings who look like red Devils are a product of 5th Edition.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Yeah but what edition is this movie?
Serious question, it's been a while.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.yeah, modern tieflings look more distinct with their colourful hues, they probably didn't want their movie tiefling to stick out too much
easier to assume she's an elf tiefling
New theme music also a boxGiven it's set after Szass Tam took over Thay & turned it into a necrocracy, it's definitely 5th ed. The last time Tieflings had a variety of appearances & skin colors was back in 3rd ed.

Yeah that refreshed my memory.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. That this did the weakest financially between itself, Super Mario Bros. Movie and FNAF is interesting since I hear about all three of these being loyal adaptations and this one being the most successful critically by far as well.
Uh I Mean the reason this didn't do well is placement and poor advertising. Fititn it in bwteen John Wick (which took the adult crowd) and super Mario bros (whicg took the family crowd) was awful.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Paramount did that last year too with The Lost City.
Not Three Laws compliant. That seems to be a recurring thing with paramount as mission impossinle also got slaughtered by Barbiehimmer.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Yeah. Grace has pointed out that both March and June were overstuffed months for movies. Also yes, I know Barbenheimer and Dead Reckoning (clearly don't need the Part One anymore now) were at the end of July.
I mean you look at Power Rangers 2017 and much like Honor Among Thieves, its reason for underperformance was the same problem: too many other films came out and pulled audiences away.

It may be giving the previous movies too much credit but I'm inclined to think Honor among Thieves is like Dredd.
Both suffered from being mouthwash for the previous adaptations among loyal fans.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Heh. That's an apt comparison. Judge Dredd 1995 is at least a guilty pleasure for many—which would probably include me in there.
The 2000 Dungeons & Dragons movie looks like a So Bad, It's Good. I think there is a difference.
I am noticing a trend where Paramount is putting their movies at wrong dates.
...is the 2000 movie So Bad, It's Good? People only ever talk about the one thing (Jeremy Irons), and to me that feels more like the hallmark of a regular-bad movie with like one memorable bit.
I've seen it and I don't even remember any of it.

I remember Marlon Wayne's character, and that everyone hated him.
It's why I want him to get another shot to be cool in Dn D.
One Strip! One Strip! The only thing I could vaguely remember from the 2000s was the final battle where the party was practicing Mook Chivalry on Jeremy Irons' character only for him to take them down 1 at a time. Also his henchman Damodar becoming a Big Bad on his own in later Direct to TV movies.
Irons hamming is amazing.
He's often highlighted as the reason to see the movie. You look at Hugh Grant in the new one and while he doesn't ham it up in that way, he's still interesting to watch without a doubt though.
Hugh Grant did great. He seemed to be having a lot of fun in the role.
Hugh Grant just plays smarmy so well.
I think the key to appreciating Everything Wrong With X is that they have to be really into the movie to point out the "flaws" and a lot of the time they're actually backhanded compliments anyway.
The meanest everything wrong was actually "Everything Great" about Call of Duty: Ghosts because you could tell the author REALLY hated the game except for the dog.
