This is cool to theorize about, but we aren't NEARLY big enough for that.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Even accounting for grandfathered sockpuppet accounts (legit ones for RPs, mind you, not the ones used for abuse), there's at least several thousand tropers.
The real killer for a TropeCon is that they're scattered all over the planet, and either can't or won't fly around the world just to meet up with other tropers.
(Nothing personal against y'all, but I know I'm not going to spend money to travel to a con for that purpose. )
All your safe space are belong to TrumpYeah.
What would be a lot more feasible is to start organizing some sort of meet-up at a already organized con.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.Also, there is always the question of whether or not there would be enough content for a full con.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.We should theorize then.
But if we want to see about another con... should I start a topic seeing who's going to what conventions? I have tickets for comiccon this year, we should see who else does.
The line below is clever and true The line above is false and certainly not clever Or even originalYeah, if it were to happen it'd have to be just a get-together at another, already existing event.
Though, really, the OP using "con" was a bit grandiose for anything happening among tropers, if you're talking about a real convention instead of just "get together and hang out, maybe do some things for fun as a group".
All your safe space are belong to Trumpmaybe organize regional things?
so much to do, and yet... here, it feels like one cannot do anything but lie here and sleep forever.I would go for a local troper hang out.
It would have to revolve around fiction, of course.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.^ Does "we pretend to have money we actually don't" count?
All your safe space are belong to TrumpBut of course.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.It would be a big project, and woul take a few years and a lot of vision, but I think we could get to the point where we rent out a convention center?
Maybe we should find other webcomic/series who are fellow tropers who would be interested in doing panels or whatnot... Speaking of panels, what would be good ideas for those?
The line below is clever and true The line above is false and certainly not clever Or even originalMight I suggest taking a leaf out of That Other Wiki's book and doing local/metro-area meetups/picnics? That seems a bit more reasonable—and I can only imagine that troper gatherings might be a bit more fun than Wikipedian ones.
I've actually though about that before. I really think it'd be interesting to do regional meet-ups. Hopefully with places with LOTS of outlets for us gamer-types
But seriously, I'd like to see an attempt made to gauge interest at least. if we get a good number of people interested we could set up a "test-con" of sorts. I'd lean towards trying a east coast location because I'd actually be able to make it there because there's obviously a concentration of tropers in the area.
TVT's tenth anniversary is coming up next year, which gives an opportunity to garner interest. Having local troper meets to celebrate would be pretty cool and more practical, yeah.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Oh, sweet, an actual reason!
I'm baaaaaaackI kind of like this idea, so long as we can make it plausible.
This is a signature.could follow Minecon's lead- we all meet up in a field and just hangout, then take it up a level if enough people like it.
I'm baaaaaaackI second that.
This is a signature.
Are we big enough, organized enough and driven enough to make a trope convention? Everyone is doing it: Comic Con, Minecon, PAX, and RTX. Why not us?
Would there even be an interest? What events would we have? And where would we host it?
