I just want his side of the story before I put him on the asshole train.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Understandable, I thought said assumptions in the first few seasons was jumping the gun a bit. I'd hardly expect a mostly positive light of him at this point, though - they'd have to pull something pretty nuts to make Weiss and Winter's conclusions look incorrect.
I don't think it's a mark of an abusive parent to object your child joining the military, though. I mean, it's pretty much a standard reaction other than families with military tradition.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.True, but I'm sure most children would understand their parents' opinion on the matter (which will usually be "I don't want you in a job whose purpose of which is to put you before things trying to kill you") while I did get the impression Winter didn't, probably because Papa Schnee cut off her money when she started with Atlas as well. That might be a little bit more extreme of a measure (literally, it's not the most nutso, but I'm guessing that's not a common reaction) for a motive of not wanting your kid to be hurt. Winter seemed to rather like opposing their father in general, so I'd say it's certain that if he's got a sympathetic side, his kids don't even really know it.
I think he ended up being abusive to his daughters just because he was very stressed, as Weiss mentioned back in Volume 1.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! You know, as far as the WMG that every member of RWBY will end up inheriting the power of one of the seasonal maidens, it would be interesting if they matched the characters with their (loose) place in the Four-Temperament Ensemble rather than their color.
Which is to say Ruby (Winter/Phlegmatic), Weiss (Summer/Choleric), Blake (Autumn/Melancholic), and Yang (Spring/Sanguine)
I kinda sucks we never hear anything about Weiss's mother
You know if Blake's father is still alive but her mother is gone then that means all of team RWBY have missing moms. They should start up a "parental issues" support group and invite everyone else.
Well, I was thinking less colour and more
Weiss is associated with ice. The winter maiden is also associated with thinking like Weiss is
Ruby's semblence looks like petals like spring flowers.
Yang is associated with fire and heat. She is also outgoing and friendly like the summer maiden.
We first saw Blake in Forever Fall.
But yeah, maybe they'll do something different.
You know what I'd enjoy if they did with Weiss' father? Jerk with a Heart of Jerk. If he's just a jerk alone, eh, it's what we all expect. So I think they should make us think that maybe something better there, go for Jerk with a Heart of Gold, then viciously stomp on it somehow in a decisive moment that hurts what fans he does pick up and makes those who dislike him hate him even more.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.If they do become Maidens it should be at the very end of RWBY but have a consequence. Maybe Maidens can live much longer and the epilogue picks up with them about 100 years or so later and their friends are gone.

Guys, what if NORA ends up one of the maidens?
Then...well, fuck.
Then remnant will transform in the World of Fallout
Uni catWe all know Ren is gonna end up Spring Maiden. He brings the flowers!
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I'm with mega-dark. We need to know more about the guy. He's obviously set up for us to think he's an irredeemable arsehole. That certainly seems to be what Weiss has come to believe. She might be right.
There might also be nuances. For example, one of the interesting things in Alias is that even the most evil villains have people they genuinely love very much. They may be arseholes. They may be pure evil. They may be completely incapable of having a healthy relationship with the people they love. But they do love. And they do genuinely try - at least for a while before their true colours overwhelm them beyond the point of no return (which is a different point depending on which character perspective you look at).
That doesn't excuse them (on the contrary, it's what truly damns them as evil in the end), but they cannot be written off as villains that are villains because they don't try - or believe they are trying - to do the Right Thing.
This is what I want to know about Papa Schnee. Is he a two-dimensional villain who is just a complete jerk to everyone, including his own blood? Is he a villain who misguidedly believes he is doing the Right Thing, especially for his daughters, and believes (rightly or wrongly) that he's engaging in Tough Love?
There are enough European fairy tales surrounding Snow Queen/Frost King families where the male patriarch (the Winter King or the Frost King, etc.) is set up to be portrayed as completely evil and it turns out to be his wife or his daughter (the Winter Queen or the Snow Queen or the Frost Queen, take your pick) turns out to be the true evil, and either the Frost King is trapped in a dungeon somewhere, or (if he needs to be seen) is being puppeteered in somewhere and needs rescuing from the evil Queen's snare/spell/possession. There are also plenty of European fairy tales where the Frost King/Winter King really is the bad guy. The question is, who will Papa Schnee be inspired by? That's my question about the guy.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. To all you RWBY fans, I wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Hello!
New watcher here. I'm at S 1 E 16 right now.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonHey I know you, you're from the Fire Emblem thread.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2So, my impressions so far:
Pretty good, with some cool action sequences and okay characters and setting. However it suffers from being a bit of a Cliché Storm and it's hard not to find things to riff on (for example I could not take Weiss and Blake playing catch with the Conflict Ball seriously).

Uni catSomething tells me "Queen has pawns" is going to be relevant somehow.
Also something tells me the headmaster dude is evil.

I still want his side of the story. Maybe he's just an overprotective dad who wants to make sure his daughters are close because he's scared of the White Fang killing them?
