Well, uh... I guess we might see an influx of actually scary things with coming episodes.

The RWBY livestream (the game really) shows a bunch of glowing Grimm, which I speculate to be due to Dust, kind of like how Eridium mutates stuff in Borderlands. They've only appeared in Grimm Eclipse, which has its own side story that takes place between Volumes 2 and 3.

Apparently they're a helluva tough too. That or whoever was playing got wrecked.

This must be how the Ice King feels about Fionna & Cake.

I feel like Blake, Yang, and Ruby won't become Maidens as the story progresses.

So after reading a RWBY fanfiction and general RWBY browsing I've been noticing something. Why do a lot people think Weiss's father is an unrepentant asshole? Maybe I'm just being an optimist but I must ask you guys, what kind of characterization do you want Papa Schnee to have when we eventually meet his character?

Doting father like Maes Hughes.

From what has been described I imagine he probably wants to be a good father but has anger/frustration management issues and didn't provide the best environment to raise a child.

I want him not to be the enemy a mother/step-mother is, and Dad is the scapegoat.

In a show based off things like fairy-tales, someone, somewhere has to have a wicked step-mother, and the Schnee family are the best candidates we've seen so far for there to be an 'evil queen'.

Even if it's not the Schnee family, someone, somewhere has to have a wicked step-mother who turns out to be the evil 'queen'.

I wouldn't have assumed that before, but Winter clearly not caring for him either does kinda make the assumption fairly credible.

Honestly, I hope Papa Schnee is characterized like Matal Mogamett from Magi Labyrinth of Magic.

I found Winter's attitude ambiguous. She seemed to have a more mature or, at least, nuanced view of their father. It almost came across as "yeah, he's making mistakes, and is a little loopy about these things, but his motives might not be what you think".

I won't have a firm opinion on Winter's true opinion of their father until I know for certain what the answer is to a question I've had since their discussion over Weiss being cut off, ostensibly because she's refusing to contact Dad, and Winter suggested (with apparent amusement) "or you could just call him". My question is "Is that what Winter did, and (if so) what happened next?".

It's implied that thanks to the robberies that the Schnee Dust Company suffered thanks to the White Fang provided a lot of stress for Mr. Schnee and it caused a not-healthy environment for Weiss and Winter to grow up in.

Taking that and what Weiss said at Mount Glenn, he might be in over his head.

I mean, all we know of her father is that he wanted both of his daughters to go into the Atlas academy, he cuts off Weiss when she doesn't want to talk to him, Winter encourages Weiss to disobey him, and Schnee corp has a reputation for evil or at least the worst side of rampant capitalism. Hardly a shining picture.

Yeah, there's nothing that paints any bright side of that man.

Also, Winter implies that he was against her joining the Atlas military.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she made it clear the direction her life is going was not one he wanted.
