I didn't have much response back on my previous emails. Is everyone okay if I go ahead and change all the character/page quotes from song lyrics to something that's actually been said in the show? My signature links to the sandbox I did of the suggested quote changes.

I also wanted to know what you thought about changing the Heartwarming.RWBY image and image quote. Because it's a Real Life comment (a tweet) and the image is where they turned Monty's signature into the setting sun and flying crows of the last scene he ever worked on, I was thinking that this is not appropriate for for Heartwarming, which is supposed in-universe events. However, I think would make a great image and quote for the Trivia page, since the relevance of it is entirely dependent on trivia.

I could argue that I think the general sentiment of the song has been hinted at in the show, but that's a conversation for another post.

If you feel the songs aren't a good match for the characters, that's probably because Jeff Williams has full creative freedom to do whatever he wants with the songs. He gets given some information to work with, but what he does with that information is entirely up to him. As a result, both he and his daughter (Casey) have warned the fandom not to take the songs as gospel and not to regard them as 'canon' even if he does sometimes slip some hints and clues into some songs along the way. They are instead more akin to being Jeff's interpretation on the things he's been told or his whim to do something he thinks would be fun to do (for example, BMBLB — he wanted to write a love song, so he did, and has had to warn the fandom a few times not to regard it as canon or a sign of how canon will develop).

Interpretation of songs is left entirely up to the fandom. For example, they mentioned that All Things Must Die is a dual-perspective song about Raven and Cinder. However, what kind of perspective that, what it means for their characters, is entirely up to the fandom to interpret for themselves. There's no 'canon' interpretation of the song's meaning or depiction of the two characters.

Even in the case of the few songs brought directly into the show (Mirror, Mirror and This Life is Mine, which are sung by Weiss), while we can safely say that it is canon to associate those two songs with Weiss's story, how we interpret the words and verses of that song is still left entirely up to us.

So, if you think the songs don't entirely match up to certain characters that the songs appear to be about, that's because it seems like Jeff doesn't really mean them to most of the time. It seems to me that it's safer to regard them as being more about how Jeff looks at the show rather than being direct and definitive statements about the show and its characters.

This is why I put together the sandbox to change the quotes. The fandom started the RWBY pages by quoting from the show. Then people decided to go through changing in-universe quotes to song lyrics. In some cases, the song being about the character has even debunked (for example, using Cold to represent Jaune) but the lyrics remain the character and page quotes for these characters and in-universe events. I think that's a big problem because they're not representative in the way the fandom clearly wants them to be.

Since the composer and singer have both warned people not to take songs literally or to use them as canon, I've been proposing switching the quote back to something genuinely canon for those characters or the pages. I've made suggestions on the changes in the sandbox. I could use feedback, however, as I don't want to go around blanket changing the quotes when only one person responded.

I think the lack of response indicates we're fine with whatever. In truth, most of us here seem to care more about discussing the show than actually troping it.

But to add to the discussion, I'm a bit wary about adding an image to the trivia page, as I can't recall any trivia pages having one.

Yes, that crossed my mind as well and I did look around the trivia pages. I haven't seen an image on any of them, but I have been thinking of asking in the Image Pickin' forum about trivia pages. It could be that it's one of those things that will rarely be able to be summarised into an image.

I really don't think it belongs on the Heartwarming page, however, but it would be a shame to lose it entirely.

So I was right and the one before was just a placeholder to gather hype. Of note are Salem in the background, Cinder's silhouette and the Grimm that is probably going to be a local big shot like Nuckles was.

Holy crap that's a lot better... well, a little. Positions Salem as the Big Bad and I'm wondering what that big Grimm thing is on the upper-right, but at least everybody looks like sh-t is going down and they're ready to fight it.

A vast improvement.

Real curiosity to see what that wolf Grimm is about. Dibs on the name "Fenrir."

I wasn't going to say anything about it this time, but, yeah.

I guess that happens eventually. I just don't understand that shirt at all.

That's... marginally better, judging from the last one. It seems very generic, almost interchangeable with the V5 poster if not for the new Grimm. Not a lot going on in the poster other than "Salem's the villain, Cinder's still alive, Grimm is being ominous".

There's also not going to be an outfit change, apparently, which is a bummer, and a bit weird since moving to a wintery, snowy area would be a good moment to do that. Maybe at the end of the season.

Only really notable thing is the absence of Qrow and JNR.

It might not be Cinder. Hair looks too ruffy.

Arm seems about right, though. And everybody's hairs seems rufflier in these posters.

That is clearly her sister, Ash Fall.

They've been "not slick" since they gave her a boob window with her costume upgrade in the first place. This is literally the entire reason those exist.

Actually a sister twist would tie back to Cinderella.

The hair being ruffier is probably just because of the whole fake-out death. I imagine most people's hair would be a bit of a mess after suffering a supposed death.

Might also be a visual cue for her getting crazier or something.

The arm is also bigger than what we've seen at the Spring Vault. There's likely a reason as to why only Cinder's silhouette is shown. Presumably, it involves the Grimm parasite within slowly taking over.

Combined with Cinder's own sanity and the Maiden powers inside, she's likely not having a good time.

In order to fool that one person who still thinks Cinder is dead.

Or she's so far gone, she thinks she's having the time of her life.

While looking for what Fergard said about the arm, I noticed the cracked moon behind Salem. You think that's just for effect, or they're hinting we're finally going to learn what happened to it, and that Salem was behind it.

I mean, if Salem is responsible for that, would explain why Raven was such a coward. You don't mess with people who can fuck up the moon.

I mean, did anyone really think that? Maybe for the first week or so before it came to us how anticlimactic it would be.

But then again, we had people freak out when Weiss got stabbed during the finale and when Pyrrha was smirking at the elevator in Volume 3, giving birth to a truckload of "that's actually Neo" theories.

Again, if there's a reason they're hiding Cinder's silhouette, it's to hide how bad she's gonna look next time.

Didn't Cinder lose her powers?

I think the moon has been in that spot in every poster it's appeared in thus far. But I might be wrong.

I did see some people wondering if Cinder was still alive a few weeks after the episode. It wouldn't surprise me to see some of the more gullible people think it was possible for her to die. Like you said, there were those who thought Weiss was going to die last volume. There's always someone.

Those people act like they never seen a show before.

4xMy theory is that Cinder ether has amnesia or she going rogue a rogue shadow you could call her.

Well, the fact Cinder was falling like that seemed like a final death to me.

So looking at the posters in Soble's posts on page 2239, the only poster with the moon in it is Season 4's, and it's kind of small.
