I thought Qrow and Winter were the only ones who criticized the fights, and given their personalities I'm not sure if that was intended to make the fights look bad.
If the fights WERE intended to be bad, then I don't think making them the main focus on the beginning episodes was a good idea.
Technically unless I am mistaken the only other people that comment on fights are a bar tender who probably would not notice as many mistakes as a professional like Qrow or Winter would and the announcers who are supposed to hype a fight not make it sound boring.

"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaTo me that just sounds like a rationalization.
After being inspired to check this series out by seeing an action-packed music video featuring Ruby and Yang on a screen in a local mall's Hot Topic while I was doing my Christmas shopping, I am now finally fully caught up on this series. I've now seen all the episodes, and I might check out some of the bonus materials later.
So, hi!
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever. It would be similar to the fact that a movie critic would judge a film differently than the average person seeing a film or a food critic judgement of a meal having a different criteria than the average person. A professional fighter is would definitely see a fight differently than the average person in the audience.
Especially shows how a professional handles a fight differently than the students with Emerald and Mercury fighting in the doubles round and taking down their opponents.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaNo matter how good the reason, having fights that are supposed to suck is just a bad, bad idea. I didn't think the tourney fights sucked, but if that is the defence for them that is a rubbish defence.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"It's not that bad of an idea...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.It is, or at least, it's wasting the audience's time.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I mean, apparently it's supposed to suck in comparison to professionals. That's not the same thing as the audience thinking they're bad.
I liked some of the tournament fights I am just saying that if the intent was to show the difference of how a fight between trained professionals looks like compared to a fight between students that are still learning than I can definitely see that right after the three tournament fights it is qrow versus winter followed by the trained killers fighting next in the tournament.
Notice the fact that the people that do really well are those that are not actually students or are probably the top of their class.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaI'd say that even that isn't a good way to describe it. The professionals being a different level is expected, but that shouldn't mean the students can't look good for their level. Which the tournament fights don't, for the most part.
I guess if that's the case, the fights just shouldn't take as long.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I'm not commenting on whether they were good or bad (mixed bag to me) just that that's different from saying they're supposed to "suck".
My interpretation of something like that would be "If you thought that was good, just wait to you see what have in store for the big players!". Which in hindsight is a bit unfortunate, since we're all more or less in agreement that the fight choreography has gone down, even we don't all agree on how bad it is.
That's what I mean as well. I'm pretty sure the idea was meant to be comparing awesome to awesome-r, not sucky to awesome.
@Lightblade Hi! Welcome! Here's hoping you enjoy the forum.
@Mizerous Of fucking course that happened. Why wouldn't it? Seriously though, how does a show like RWBY warrant harassment on this level? What a stupid thing to get that bothered over...
The more popular a thing is, the easier it will be to attract terrible people into the fandom.
(14) Greetings, welcome to the RWBY discussion. Run while you can its not too late
This will probably catch your attention.
This should also catch your attention.
V3 did a little clarification from those who saw the series that while the group is awsome, they are not really a top tier of their habilty, is also play on the whole "children not knowing what is coming" thing.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Paper Thin Disguises and puns.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Oh, hey, they remembered the first episode's cliffhanger this time around.
Qrow's real thoughts on Winter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix4heeALueY
With a guest appearance by Raven.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Winter criticised Weiss's performance. Qrow issued criticism a couple of times (about the quality of the student fights in general, a couple of softer comments here and there to Ruby and Yang, and a more biting one to Pyrrha that she was carrying her team). Taiyang also criticised Yang's performance, essentially voicing exactly why the villains were able to use her.
I don't have the exact quote to hand, but I was paraphrasing the creators when they said they wanted the Qrow/Winter fight to show-up the students to show the difference between adult, fully-trained Huntsmen and student-level fights.
The students were definitely supposed to be portrayed as less able than the adults. However, as I said, I'm not sure the creators got quite the level they were aiming for.
So, hi!
Hi! Check out the World of Remnant episodes as they give some useful information on the setting. Although, you will find that fans don't agree on the usefulness of them. Personally, I think they're useful. You might have to watch them on the RWBY channel on Rooster Teeth's website because only some of them are on You Tube (some were DVD bonuses, so they can be seen on Rooster Teeth's website, but haven't been distributed across You Tube).
Let us know what you think, we could always do with new perspectives — regardless of whether or not you like the show overall.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Don't bother with WoR. It's ultimately irrelevant due to lack of actually concrete world building in a bunch, and they often get contradicted by the show.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
Welp this happened...
