Oh god, it's all gone to shit

Well, a lot of people were complaining "how come the Diamonds were so easy to turn!?". I guess those people can feel better now, though I don't think there was ever anything to actually worry about.

[up][up] I prefer "Great Googly Moogly it's all gone to shit", myself.

[up] Reminds me of the time people went "no you fucking don't" at Pearl saying "I want to tell you!" in the ad for the "Dewey Wins" app bomb. I wonder how those people feel now.

I can't help but feel those people didn't really understand what the situation was. Blue and Yellow never "turned". They were just going along with Steven because they missed Pink, and they don't really understand that Pink Diamond and Steven aren't really the same people. They don't have a frame of reference for what Steven is. Moreover, it never changed the fact that Yellow and Blue are despots who don't really value other life besides their own. Even their affection for Pink is still marred by condescension and a refusal to communicate with her properly.

While changing my avatar, I realized that the freaking Diamonds learned about Stevonnie before Connie's parents.

It's becoming one of those Internal Reveals where I wonder if they're saving it for later, when things are less hectic, or it's just gonna happen offscreen.

Similar to how some people think 'understanding a situation' and 'condoning a situation' are the same thing.

Random thought

- If Yellow and Blue fused into a Green Diamond to fight White and all their subjects saw it their rules and taboos against cross Gem fusion would break down and become unenforceable, since it would make them both hypocrites, the very act of doing would probably mean an end to their separate courts in a sort of " We will unite the white rose and the red" moment

They have separate courts so they have all the Gems that belong to that Diamond in one group,as for White's court,it's possible at this point I think that her 'court' are the other diamonds

For whatever reasons there are multiple diamonds. It's arbitrary, but why wouldn't it be that way?
[up]White had her own fraction of the crowd when Pink Diamond's ship landed.

Depends on whether or not you count White Pearl.

A promo image by Joe. An interesting thing is that the episode was also boarded by Adam Muto, who worked on (and I believe was the show runner for) Adventure Time.

I'm reminded of something while looking at this, but I'm not sure what.

@LSBK: None of them but White Pearl were clearly part of it. Didn’t seem to be any pink court gems either, begging the question of where that part of the crowd was.

[up][up]Muto was also Rebecca Sugar’s storyboard partner. He mentioned guest storyboarding an episode on the podcast recently, but I figured it would be something next season as he said it was “not a lore-heavy” episode.

Also note this is Joe Johnston’s first boarded episode since “Mr. Greg”, after which he became co-supervising director.

So...melons, huh? Well, I guess we'll see what happens in two weeks. I'm holding out hope that Lapis and Peridot would have reformed by now and might show up with Bismuth. The song was nice, and I guess the melon war seemed like it was supposed to be allegorical for the Gem War, but other than that, it was a sort of low-key episode. (Also the bit where Stevonnie was looking out the tower window seemed odd—did they forget that they would be able to float down?)

Didn't expect the Watermelon Stevens to make a return.

And ahh, Escapism was so pretty!

Also, the BOHAM promo was mostly the same, barring one difference: White Pearl rising from the floor, right in front of Steven and Connie, and saying "You're not going anywhere...

That's twice now that Steven has messed up a watermelon by taking over its body. First he gets one killed, now this one is missing an arm and a leg.

Now, watch how Escapism foreshadowed important plot points.

Even if they did get out and float down, where would they go?

What was Steven's plan? Bismuth doesn't have a ship. I'm assuming he didn't try Lars because he figured he needed to know where the person was. Is Bismuth gonna fix Nephrite's ship?

Well that was a change of pace, not entirely unwelcome, but it doesn't give much of an idea of how things are going next episode.

They still have the pieces to Blue and Yellow's ships, probably, and the pieces for Peridot's hand ship as well (wherever those are). Whether or not Bismuth can cobble something together with them or use them to fix Nephrite's ship remains to be seen.

My first thought "leg it to Pink's ship" and hope to take off

Forgot about that! If one has a working gravity engine, Bismuth might be able to jury-rig something even without a lot of electromechanical knowledge.

and the pieces for Peridot's hand ship as well (wherever those are).
If there's any usable pieces of that left, they'd be in the temple, out reach.
