I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)

Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).

If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.

This weekend I am at a Blood Bowl event at Warhammer World with my Chaos Dwarf team. Three games today with 2 losses and a draw as the results.

Game 1 was against Wood Elves and was a 0-4 loss on touchdowns and a 0-3 loss on casualties. I had terrible luck as usual but his tree man failed to do anything thankfully.

Game 2 was against Chaos Renegades and I won 2-1 on touchdowns and 4-0 on casualties. I was very lucky this time as his troll and ogre kept failing their stupidity rolls and I managed to keep the ball for most of both halves. He did get a 1 turn touchdown by throwing his goblin though.

The last game today was against Dark Elves and although I lost 2-0 on touchdowns I did win 3-2 on casualties. It was actually quite close for most of the game but I made some stupid mistakes that lost me the match. I did manage to take out one of her Witch Elves with a fouling Hobgoblin though and knocked out another with my sorcerers lightning

My general goal for any event is to win a single game so I have achieved that a and all the games have been very fun so all in all it has been a reasonably good day.

[up]...Not quite adding up there, or is it just me? tongue And how did you get out-casualtied by Wood Elves with a worthless Treeman!? [lol]

D'oh that was meant to be 2 losses and a win.[lol] As for the Wood Elves, I have no idea how that happened myself, it's the first time I have ever been out casualties by elves of any type.

[up]It can happen, especially with hardened Delf/Welf teams that are built right. A Treeman is usually there to soak space, But the Wardancers + skilled Linos can get stuck in and block every turn if you are light on Guard. Dark Elves often play like a bruiser team with AG 4 once they skill up and get that second Guard. Still, not much you can say in defense of Chaos Dwarfs with all that Block, Tackle, and Strength access. [lol] What were the point values?

1,150,000 go with free extra skills (Tier 1 teams such as Chaos Dwarves got 5 general choice skills). My team is 6 C Dwarves, 2 Bull Centaurs, 7 Hobgoblins, a Chaos Sorcerer 1 reroll and 1 fan factor. The lack of rerolls hasn't really been an issue except in the game against the Dark Elves.

Thinking about it, the Wood Elf team didn't even have any Wardancers either (they were made from the new Elven Union models) so I really have no idea how I suffered so many casualties.

[up]Yeesh, I definitely would have dropped a couple Hobs for a reroll. Only way I would play with 1 reroll is an eternal league with Helf/Delf to get all the positionals skilling up immediately. If you need more than 2 bench warmers for a non-stunty team below 1300, something has gone very wrong and your team is getting mutilated. Were you adding in SP Ps or just remaining at 1150 for the whole event?

No advancement during the event this time round. I usually go with at least 2 rerolls but I wanted to try the new Chaos Sorcerer (who has proved to be quite fun and saved me from suffering a couple of touchdowns) and I also feel a little naked without a casualty buffer. The event is also using a points system for special play cards. I almost always take a single magic item (that uses up both points) as they tend to last the entire game.

Lost the first game today against very bashy orcs (almost all Black Orcs and Blitzers with a troll and chainsaw). Took out chainsaw early but gobbo and blitzers ran in for a td. Rest of the game was a big brawl. I lost 2-3 on casualties but I knocked out quite a few of his guys. I could have scored on the final turn but it required a long pass by a Chaos Dwarf with predictable results.

My final game was against Elven Union, which I won 2-1 on touchdowns and 4-0 on casualties. The opponent had terrible luck and could only penetrate my armour a couple of times during the game. His Blitzer with dodge was a pain though and although my Sorcerer did manage to knock down his Thrower it didn't stop his touchdown. I did get a couple of my hobgoblins we t off with my head coach getting ejected when he tried arguing the call.

Overall it was a fun event with 2 wins and 3 losses being relatively good for me. Now just have to wait to see where I came in the overall results.

EDIT: Home now and had a nice long bath and a herbal tea to recover. Overall I came 32nd out of 42 teams and came joint third on number of casualties scored (13) along with half a dozen other teams. The top 5 teams were: 1. Humans; 2. Elven Union; 3. Orcs; 4. Necromantic Horror; 5. Orcs.

Reveals from the German games show SPIEL 18

A monster warband for Warhammer Underworlds:

Shambling Undead teams for Blood Bowl:

Also, another new Age of Sigmar Gaiden Game: The Rise & Fall of Anvalor

We can also announce an exciting new licensed board game from WizKids (whose previous credits include Warhammer 40,000 Dice Masters), set in the Age of Sigmar – The Rise & Fall of Anvalor. Here’s the story so far…

“Many previous attempts to build a lasting fortification at Anvalor have failed. Its strategic location on the Great Parch, a particularly arid region of Aqshy, the Realm of Fire, is of supreme importance. However, each new effort to establish a significant foothold has also irked a new foe, an enemy who rises to the challenge of thwarting the attempt. Equally distant from Anvilgard, Hammerhal Aqsha and the City of Brimstone, the competing factions of those great cities have put their quarrels aside and committed to a final push to rebuild Anvalor together. Whoever can secure the new stronghold will also dominate the Great Parch, significantly strengthening their influence in all the Mortal Realms.”

[up]It's a wiki, you can make one yourself. Just remember that this is a trope wiki not a Games Workshop wiki so you should make sure there are at least 3 (preferably at least 10) tropes unique to the game (i.e. that aren't covered by the tropes for the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar setting) it is worth making a page. The tropes should also preferably be written so that someone with no knowledge of the game and setting can understand them.

I was at a one day Blood Bowl event at Warhammer World today. 3 games: 1 win; 1 loss; 1 draw. I was using Necromantic Horror Undead with the Flesh Golem Star Player Frank N Stien.

Game 1 was against a Chaos Chosen team and I won that 1-0 on touchdowns and 2-1 on Casualties. Frank caused both my casualties, taking out the opponent's Minitour and a Beastman. One of my Werewolves scored the touchdown on the final turn but it took som blocking and going for it.

Game 2 was my loss (0-2 on both touchdowns and casualties) and it was against a Nurgle Team. I had terrible luck throughout and was unable to penetrate his armour. My werewolves kept being KOed. There was a funny moment when one of his Rotters fumbled picking up the ball causing it to bounce through the hands of three other players before being caught again by the original Rotter.

Game 3 was a 0-0 Draw against a Dwaft team with a 1-1 draw on casualties (one of my wights failed his regeneration roll for a second time in as many games). This was a very fun game that saw both are teams mostly beating on each other in the centre of the pitch with each of us being shut down if we tried to break away. The casualty I caused was one of my Ghouls taking out one of his Troll Slayers.

Overall it was an entertaining day with some good games.

So, I'm wondering if AOS will get the Kill Team treatment with the teaser for Warcry. It's about the only thing that would get me interested in the game. I've come to really appreciate the late WFB over the last few months.

Anyway, it's mainly because I could go with a much smaller scale team rather than a proper army. Hell, I'll probably start collecting kill teams rather than work on expanding my dark eldar army.

So, having squatted the Tomb Kings and Bretonnia, I'd probably go dwarfs over anything else. Not sure how AOS works at all. Kill Team teams are generally made up of the armies various troop choices. Generally, as I understand it. If Warcry turns out to be similar, would Ironbreakers or Longbeards likely be on the table? Or is it more likely that it'd be Warriors/Thunderers?

Age of Sigmar: Skirmish (released for the last edition and updated in White Dwarf - January & February) is effectively Kill Team for Age of Sigmar, described as "enabling you to pit small warbands of deadly fighters against each other in the streets, cavernous underways, haunted graveyards and myriad other battlegrounds across the Mortal Realms."

While I do still prefer the original Warhammer, I do actually like Age of Sigmar and just wish I could spend some more time on it but with all my other hobbies (both GW related and others), work and other real life issues, I just don't have the time I would like to do the things I already have on my plate.

Ok, so there already is a skirmish-level game for it. I'll have to keep an eye out. Though that requires owning the main AOS rulebook, the skirmish rules, and then the army book for whatever force I'm playing, right?
