Yeah, I don't understand the hate for 3Dog, either. It's mere child's play to turn the radio off.

I think the Bo S Outcasts might make a good plot point in 4, somehow. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll develop their own new stuff to tack onto the original material they mostly reused in 3.

I really hate the constant slagging of Bethesda and their acquisition of the Fallout games license and their iteration of it and the constant decrying of Fallout 3 not being a Fallout game. The clue is in the title.

Interplay no longer has the license, and their games were, in my opinion (and that is the one that counts because it is me that pays for the games I play, not anyone else) not as good or as immersive as Fallout 3.

If you don't want to buy the next game, purely because it is made by Bethesda, then that is your prerogative. Stop treating those that bought Fallout 3 as idiots because we like the game or think it is better than the ones you like that were made by the previous publisher/developer.

I'm well aware that Fallout 3 is a Fallout game. That doesn't mean that I have to like it.

Also, I never saw anybody in this thread saying that people who like Fallout 3 are idiots.

[Eh, not worth it.]

Fallout 1 and 2

not as good as Fallout 3

Seriously though, Skyrim was pretty good so I've got higher hopes for FO 4 than I had for FO 3. It's just a shame Bethesda refuses to hire decent writers. Ditching their horrible version of Gamebryo couldn't hurt either.

Never have I played a series and NEVER wanted to go back and play the previous game. Not even for a bit. That's how I feel about FO 3 and NV. NV was just done so much better than FO 3 imo that I really can't play FO 3 anymore. So I'm thinking that may may not be the case for FO 4. I just want Beth to try to play to Fallout's strengths in Gameplay and Story telling and not TES's. If I slag on FO 3 is mostly because I think FNV is just so much better and I really want FO 4 to be good.

Stop treating those that bought Fallout 3

@ Tam H 70: I bought Fallouts 1, 2 and 3. Still think that 3 sucks. Deal with it.

And implying that everyone other than yourself is a pirate is kinda a bad thing.

Last I checked, Skyrim is basically on an enhanced version of the Gamebryo engine, which I'm pretty sure Bethesda made in the first place.

Okay, okay, okay. Prospective time! Here's the kind of thing I'd like to see in this next game.

  • Weapon balancing. I kind of feel like there should be an actual point to every given weapon, like there's a reason you should still consider using them throughout the game. I think this'd be helped by making more holdout areas aside from a handful of casinos. There should be a purpose in mind for every weapon you find lying around, instead of just being a gun for the sake of being a gun. Also, seriously, weapon mods were way too unreliable to find, and way too expensive for their effects. A pistol made slightly more powerful is not worth the 1,000 caps to get those mods when a gun that outclasses it in every way can be found just down the road.

  • Less stupidly-exclusive items. Seriously, New Vegas had a fuckton of absolutely pointless pieces of apparel or useless items that could only be found in one or two places. It eats the OCD in me. I must have an EVERYTHING. But really, basic and simple clothing should be reliable to find. There should be stores that sell that kind of stuff or something.

  • More extensive customization. I want to be able to cosmetify my guns and armor. And I think armor should be less of a simple catch-all thing and more of a layered system, like older RP Gs and stuff. So power armor comes in chestplates, backpacks, legs, shoes, arms, gloves, and helmets, with a Recon Suit acting as undergarments. But then, that might annoy some. I dunno, give people the ability to merge armor sets into a single item for easier management?

  • Hardcore mode being more hardcore. It felt a bit less like a desperate bid for survival and more like a minor annoyance what with all the massive amounts of consumables I'd amassed. Make it more tense and important to the core gameplay, and not some passing thing you have to remember.

  • Some level of intelligence to NP Cs. Seriously, it's ridiculous that I'm encouraged to be shady and holding a chainsword to murder dozens of NCR soldiers behind their backs to sell their armor, all because if I do it right there's no consequences. They should've gotten suspicious and alerted to what's going on, indicated by a...let's call it a caution meter. It's something related to the reputation thing, except not instant. It'd basically work like...if a corpse is observed by a person of the same faction, they become wary, and start alerting everyone else. As long as you're sticking around, that meter doesn't go down, unless you come into the room in a faction uniform, in which case it'll slowly go down a bit. If the meter fills up, however, it causes a hit to your reputation, regardless of if anyone actually saw you kill that person. This happens faster if you have a bad rep, and slower if you're more favored among them.

  • A 3D map, a la Metroid Prime. I've found the maps more or less nonsense in multi-level rooms, and being able to see a clearer representation of the place would help a bit more.

  • No stupid invisible walls. Just...no.

Why do you fight? Why do you exist?

I was expecting an official announcement about the game. Dissapointing.

Since this is all hypotheticals at the moment, I would more interested if they got around to making the PS 3 version actually playable for a decent length of time. Apparently it's an issue with the engine whilst being played on a PS 3, a memory leak problem or some such.

They made fun of the concept of mind-controlled Deathclaws

I thought it was poking fun at Fallout 2 with that comment about the Deathclaws. At least, that's what I read on the trope page.

Also, I saw no problem with the Bo S or Super Mutants being in the DC area. To me, the FEV would be something that the US Government would want held in other areas as backup sites for research/containment. Best not to leave all your eggs in one basket. As for the Bo S, they were stated in-game as to have been sent East to collect technology and connect with branches in the Mid West. So, once finding the Pentagon, they'd want to hold up and help against the Super Mutants. Since Elder Lyons is a decent human being and not a self-righteous dick. But that's just how I see it.

Looked back at the page. It wasn't mind-controled, it was domesticated Deathclaws. And the Take That was at Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel game. My bad.
