Made my first save right before the first dungeon. Certainly seems interesting so far, and it's got extremely smooth movement and excellent graphics for a GBA game.

Yes, that's one thing the game has going for it. The graphics are pretty good for its time.

Some of the Summons, especially in The Lost Age, have straight-up the best graphics of any GBA game. Like, the best, number 1.

It's a shame that summons are kind of impractical given the way summoning works.

The summons are really good for boss fights, though. I usually go into a fight with all my Djinn set and I unleash them on the boss to build up summons, but that's because summon rushing them is too easy.

I typically try to strike a balance when I'm going into bosses, having about half of my Djinn on Standby. Whether that works out to half of each character's Djinn being on Standby or half of my characters being all on Standby while the other half are Set depends on the circumstances and boss. Usually, bosses have elemental weaknesses, so it's more worth it to use 2 or 3 big summons of the element they're weak to than waste summons of elements they resist.

Play session 2, left off at Vault. I'm really getting hooked now. Sol Sanctum is one of the best long dungeons I've ever seen in 2D, especially for a starter dungeon. Flint a cute. For such a smart guy, shouldn't Kraden know to conduct more research before absconding with the cornerstones of all reality?

Kraden is low-key a mad scientist, man gets way too excited to dabble in forces beyond human comprehension.

Vault done. Watching Ivan's lightning turn the bandits into mincemeat was hilarious. I'm still loving it but I hope it gets harder later. I've not only never died, I've never had a single character KO'd so far.

Outside of a few Difficulty Spikes the games aren't all that hard. One of those spikes will be coming up within the next few hours of playtime and you'll know it when you see it.

The Lost Age does have a hard mode that beefs up the enemies' numbers but it's exclusive to New Game Plus.

Beat Tret but still need to get to Imil to fully cure him and by extension Kolima. Bilibin Cave is the right route?

I forget the name of the cave but if it's northwest of Bilibin you're on the right track.

Mercury Lighthouse clear! Gorgeous place, absoute pinnacle of GBA atmosphere.

For someone I'm told is technically in the right per the second game twist mentioned previously, Saturos is a right arrogant prick isn't he?

I like how the aforementioned twist is already being foreshadowed; the effects of turning the lighthouse on ended up being entirely beneficial.

Granted, the DS sequel shows why the Ancients felt sealing Alchemy was necessary.

And Saturos is nothing compared to Alex. People like Alex are a big part of why Alchemy was sealed in the first place.

Now at Xian. I want to note that this is a game where I feel pretty damn bad for the random enemies, as they're implied to be ordinary animals turned into feral mutants by the Synergy Stones. I wish I could turn them back instead of beat them up!

Oh, a Golden Sun playthrough! Nice! Really interesting to hear someone playing through it the first time. Thanks for your contribution to the thread!

Wow, the Manticore was actually pretty damn hard due to being able to attack twice per round. First boss to drop a dude (Ivan), but I still won.

Am pleased to announce that I now have four of each Djinn an can therefore use all the ultimate summons! The summons in this game, by the way, are both very useful in their own right and have designs that kick ass. Mother Earth toad who will gut you like sheep for violating nature! The four Revelation "living creatures" fused together into a heavenly knight! Whales with frickin' laser beams on their heads! Shaved ice Megazord! Literally Thor!

I know about the higher summons in TLA anyway, but they're not the ultimate summons in THIS game now are they?

Huh. Guess they're not. Could've sworn there were at least two multi-colour summons in the first Golden Sun. My b.
