The game is now officially under way.

Signup Info and Nations here

The plan as stated is to have a travelling group in Shenlin, Meiya, while playing out politics and doing intrigue between our respective cultures/nations/states.

I have a lot more planned but I want to get some introductions out of the way because I start pushing people around too much.

Hopefully, I've given all the P Cs enough of a hook to at least be in the inn/bar.

After that, it should be mostly a blankslate. PM me if you're having issues starting.

Most things presently have happened via PM, skype or other means.

However, I'm going to bug you guys here for a brief list of provinces and major cities. In particular, include some disputed territories.

A possible consideration is to name stuff and then have another player "nationalize it":

So'raan under the Toryl empire for example might be named by Scott then "Torylized" by Rabbitrider (He has recently notified me of his return but it will be a week or two before he can make a dedicated comeback). In some cases a new name might be given but use your discretion here.

Cultures with Disputed/Conquered Areas;

  • Fén/Úlaghél under the Toryl Empire. [Galyr]
  • Viha under the Zewan-Tal [Mostly reoccupied by settlers, though placenames could keep]
  • Dussarit under the Eralih [Unnamed]
  • Fén/Paligír under the Kergen [Unnamed]

  • So'raan under the Toryl Empire. [Soraenyr]
  • Saremitas relatives under the Kergen [Unnamed].
  • Tal [or relatives] under the Kergen [Unnamed].
  • Eralih settlers under the Kergen [Unnamed].

Other cases where people should do variants of their language for other areas;

  • Sarem Tribes [Independant]
  • Ietsahru [Dussarit/Eralih mix, Independant]
  • Northern Fén Settlements [Independant]

Sounds Italian.

For the people who like to keep track of these things.

"Sadat!" - "Halt!"

"Ema la?" - Shortened version of "What is it?". Equivalent to, "What's up?"

"Damonon. Sanra sha tanra gel parsen." - Damonon is literally "Nomad" but used in the same manner you would say "a wild savage". "Sanra sha tanra gel paresn" is "Says she wants to talk."

"Sha treaech?" - "She armed?"

"Rala jesa, raz ital. Da wenvusir yuon." - "Rala jesa," is, "It's night." "Raz ital" means, "Smart person". In context its used the same way you'd sarcastically call someone a genius after they said or did something stupid. "Da wenvusir yuon." is simply, "I cannot see."

Hey Scott, I pushed the Iestahru plot forward here on the bottom section. If there's any questions or I skipped something you'd like to focus on, tell me here but I'm hoping to push this plot along since I can't do anything with the Eralih until the meeting is concluded.

For other people a basic summary of politics and who is doing what:

  • Rider is missing and while not needed desperately, playing the big Empire then not being around isn't going to end well. (A border war is already started while an unofficial alliance is resolved against them).
  • Parable is in a Zewan-Tal-Viha plot and is moving relatively quickly. Still waiting on his reply in a meeting.
  • Dalt is in a Dussarit civil war plot which hinges on Iestahru moving forward or else time skips will lead to issues.
  • Hydrall is in a mostly internal Saremitas plot. Still waiting on his reply in a meeting.
  • Nman is in a plot with Northern Fayn colonies. I've time skipped about a month and I'm waiting for other plots to resolve slightly before pushing that plot point.

If there's any questions, issues, ideas on plot or whatever, feel free to post them here or PM me or whatever.

Alright;

For the record, all of your people should be aware of these gathering armies and the tensions.

Nman, your people are free to be troubled and conversing in those regards. The Northern Fayn as it stands do not have a clear leader but are a rather loose alliance.

Not much further reaction can be made in the west barring the return of Rabbit Rider [Officially, I'm giving him until the end of January to focus on the plot before taking over his faction as an NPC. Earlier if Plot demands it.]

The Eralih and Zewan-Tal probably have some interest

  • In the exact division of borders and both have some stake in the remaining Tal which the border splits down the middle between.
  • Treatment of the Viha and the claim of the Zetali over Viha/Meiyan lands.
  • The Proxy war against the Dussarit.

The Saremitas might also benefit from looking towards the Zetali. I may incorporate the Reakin myself should things continue to be slow diplomatically.

Presently the West is slow barring the return of Rider and/or Scott.

Alright, I don't want this thing to get twisted in knots during the feast but I'm not sure who wants to say what.

A lot of people are tongue tied and quiet, which makes sense in character and I can write as people as just eating quietly in narrative. Presumably leaving shortly after to discuss amongst themselves rather than sticking around and discussing stuff.

Some people though are tied down with otherstuff and can't post every day. So, if there's stuff you still need to bring up feel free to post here to tell me.

Otherwise, either have your character nudge the discussion to "how can we best do this" or else, post here and tell me to move things along with a relatively quiet meal.

Almost all spoken Fayn with translations. A few things are a little fuzzy due to shifts/retcons in the language and a posts had minor gramatical errors [though still readable].

Those interested can try their hands at Translation with my notes, here and here. Which are Grammar and Vocab respectively. It should be mostly intelligible/possible since I managed to re-translate all but one post which I suspect I wrote improperly while tired.

An interesting note that might come up later is that Fayn would have a couple similar quirks to the Chilai in that they have trouble with both "y", "ch" and a few other common Meiyan sounds. Though in the Fayn and Chilai pronounce "ch" very differently.

One thing I've noticed around the wiki in general is the lack of date-age (datery? dating?). While the story isn't proceeding on any fixed timeline (as it would get too messy), might it be a good idea to come up with a universal date for the time period around 'present'?

Scholable [Parable] has been bothering me about the same thing. The main issue is the lack of a universal calender like the Gregorian one is generally is treated as now;

Fén list it as "Boc Én Ced Dhína cóbh Génibhír ba Bénagén Nímhul" Shortened to "Én [Dhína Bénagén] Nímhul". Which is to say, they use regal years; counting from the cornation of one highking until the next [which can sometimes be over a hundred years if there are disputes/delays after death or if the son/grandson are hesistant to break from their father's legacy.]

I think we have an established Meiyan date which is primarily used on the Wiki but I don't have a full calender worked out for it and am in the process of looking up the year.

A Huon calender would be interesting. I imagine it working like a democratic version of the Fayn one if we follow the precedence of Greece and the Olympics and Rome and their Consuls.

Stuff!

The short version of the post with some clarification:

  • Faiyinr has to anwser for a lot with this and now Tsridai and his parents have to choose between their reputation as Chilai and a potentially advantageous merging of houses. Faiyinr opposes this merging [at least partially because they would be at the mercy and whims of the Dynast in this position] and prefers the relatively independance of their position amongst the Chilai and is also hesistant to see her line merged with the old foe.
  • Tsridai is engaged in an arranged marriage. The two are not particularly familiar with eachother and are sort of awkward around eachother or else ill-suited , depending who you ask. They've barely talked, let alone romanced, and so for this reason, Tsridai views it as a political arrangment which was superseded by the advantages of the Meiyan one, as opposed to cheating on a fiancée in Chilai.
  • You guys now have a few options, Faiyinr path, Tsridai path or Fuck this, I'm out:
    • The former is the most obvious in my eyes since everything is best established and is the original agreement, this way you can watch the Chilai discuss the possibility of rebellion and you can maybe try to argue with them, but yeah, there is likely going to be war. Also, Faiyinr will see to it that you lot get rewarded well. If you want to go this way, get packing now.
    • The latter is less clear; You can hang out with Tsridai now and find yourself positioned as observers while the Meiyans nervously prepare, see the underlying factions and watch some splintering occur.
    • Alternatively, you could shrug your shoulders, take what Kolei and Tsridai offer then head North, or West or somewhere else. You'll probably still get a glimpse of the war as you leave but if you aren't interested in listening to Meiyan politics and would rather explore the player nations, then Hydrall's Saremitas is the way to go.

Most of these invovle talking to Tsridai now, unless you really side with the Chilai in which case, drinking and packing to follow Faiyinr works.

I'm a mature and grumpy old DM; You guys have no real plot ties which force you to stay together and I'd actually prefer it if there weren't a suddenly bond formed between them simply because you guys are all P Cs; Let the party split and I will see it merge together or shuffle and intermix in due time and bonds will form eventually that bring everyone together.

If everyone picks the same option on their own? Great, that works fine.

If it's a bit more mixed? Then we get to see more of Sphaera.

If we have a soloist or two? I'll do what I can to merge things.

Now things;

Daltar is still playing but has been busy/burnt out. This is a slow paced game, so it shouldn't be too damaging for her to pick up again when she is able. We may retcon her character as having skipped the meeting or else just been too nervous to talk and following along retroactively with whichever group she chooses or else playing catch up with them.

Darksidevoid has expressed interest in filling the slot which was originally meant for him, taken by Rena and then abandoned again. If Rena shows up later, fixes can be made.

Rabbit Rider has been sparse on the net in general and so should be counted as interested but sporatic. For now, I'm looking to fill the leadership positions of the Toryl with Hydrall, Myself and Scholable. Dark may fill in for Hydrall or else we may have four.

Scott, Hydrall, Scholable, Nman are obviously still active.

I am considering ways to reopen the sign up but mostly, the land up for grabs would be strictly speaking, politically unimportant lands; the border between Nman, Hydrall and Daltar, perhaps a chunk of southern Viha forests, some edge of the Eralih Empire or Northern Galyr. I am rather skeptical that there would be many takers with these somewhat strict conditions and most of my personal links who I trusted in the RP are either retired or already invovled so I suspect that for the time being we are going to have to make due.

If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to post here.

Edit: Couldn't find the date. Scholable has it written down somewhere but I keep forgetting to ask him. I might make a separate one for the Toryl which the Huon might use as a trading calender.

Approxiately it is 320ish within the Meiyan Calender and I believe about 270ish with the Toryl but both have numbers which have been explicitly written down that I can't find right now.
