The downloadable version isn't available, but Gamespot's showing of the GDC Online presentation by Chris Roberts for the game is set up to repeat.
robertsspaceindustries.com is getting slashdotted, but for those wanting to pledge money towards the project, here is a backup of the N. America pledge site, and here is the EU pledge site backup.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI'm not a big Space Sim guy, but hot damn that trailer is a face-melter.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectReminds me of Wing Commander, and in a good way. Not enough to really gauge what exactly is this game going to play like, though. Will it be an arcade-style up close dogfigts and WWII style combat manuevers, or sim-like in the sense of space having a sense of no intertia and heavy drag on the fighter?
Sgt, the video of the presentation I linked to shows some actual flying in game that isn't recorded in advance, but Roberts actually flying a fighter in realtime.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpThere's a whole video on physics on the official site, if you can reach it. You'll probably be wanting a joystick.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectOh man, this reminds me so much of Freelancer (a criminally under-rated game, by the way). I've got a pretty good feeling about this; it makes me think of a spiritual successor to the sequel to the aforementioned game that never quite materialised. I also got a little kick out of the out-of-ship segments of the trailer for some reason.
I'll be watching this one eagerly.
Locking you up on radar since '09So that's why this game reminds me of Wing Commander - this guy MADE the series!
Courtesy of yours truly, now has a basic work page that Needs Wiki Magic Love.
And because the original site keeps getting pummeled, Roberts has created an alternate Kickstarter page.
What's wrong with his original page? Too much traffic?
^ Yeah, among other things.note
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI'm in love. And there's no way I can ever run this.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? They're not talking about releasing it until November 2014, assuming they can meet the crowdfunding goal of $2M (they're at $1.675M currently, RSI.com and Kickstarter combined) in another ~3 weeks.
Plenty of time to save up for updated components.
(Here's hoping that if there's a Windows 9 by then, it doesn't continue on the shit-tacular trend started by W8. )

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI should probably do some upgrading sometime between now and then. I'll get something top of the line now so it can be obsolete by then.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Well, you could always wait until they release specs for it. It's Cry Engine 3, if that means anything.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThis looks fun. If I can manage to upgrade my new PC, I might be able to run this when it comes out. Looks like the cool community parts of EVE Online, but with the boring stuff out. I'm hoping to get the mech controller for Hawken, hope that works with it.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenActually, I have never played a real space sim, the closest to an 'Sci-fi'-sim with an awesome controller was an inherited Mechwarrior 4 game with joystick and throttle. What do you need to play a space sim, peripherally-minded?
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenDepends on the space sim. If you go for Freelancer, all you need is a keyboard and mouse.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryI mean, what peripherals are generally used in space sims, besides a joystick?
Anyway, I will buy into the Kickstarter when I get paid sometime next month. Maybe there is an option to make the ships big red blobs for the P Cs not high-end enough to run it?
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenThat's all you need really. Freelancer and the X series are both very easy to control with a mouse/keyboard set-up. Hell with X3 I'd advise mouse'n'keyboard as dogfighting is less important then proper squad management and running your empire.
Freelancer is really the best play to start out. Tons of fun and the game is pretty simple to learn. Mastering it is a different story.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I... Guess that answers my question. I like how there are hangars in the game.
One thing, though: ok, lots of people will sign up for a tour with the military upon joining. Aren't they the same military that is supposed to help against pirates?
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenLooks like between RSI's crowdfunding and the kickstarter, they've made the 2 megabucks needed to convince investors to shell out the real money, with some to spare. $2.1M total funding, with RSI's homebrew crowdfunding setup getting 1.55M of that.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI hope the Citizen Card I'm getting isn't just a little business card...
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenBoarding mechanics introduced, along with cockpit decoration. To be excited for the boarding, I would have to see more. Also, I hope the decorations are cheap. It would really break immersion for a pinup poster and fuzzy dice to be a quarter the price of your ship.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged Men
To be clear, Star Citizen will be a persistent online world, with a single player campaign called Squadron 42. It will be both privately and crowd-funded, no publisher. Cry Engine-powered (All that stuff in the trailer is real time). Also, cockpit views!
