Specifically, "How Much More Can He Take?, because everyone involved is so insanely overpowered that I have no idea how much damage any of these attacks are doing". Which is to say, far too specific for that name.

Is there misuse that shows that tropers find it ambiguous?

Well, I just removed it from Last Chance Hit Point, which was the only wick I've ever seen for it anywhere.

admittedly a rather small sample size

also, it has only 80 wicks despite predating the current discussion pages, so it's not exactly getting used

Is 80 wicks really that bad? It doesn't ring any underuse bells for me.

... actually, reading the example list, I'm starting to wonder how it's supposed to be any different from Critical Existence Failure.

yes that's unrelated. i honestly don't know if 80 wicks is underuse for a trope that's been around for years. it sounds like it would be, but it's a fairly specific one.

The visual interpretation of combat in most Video Games follows this trope to a T...; until you suffer Critical Existence Failure, you're just as effective as you ever were.

Well, a significant portion of the examples on the page itself are just "character takes a lot of punishment".

As written, this is a fan interpretation. It would be more of a trope if it talked about its use In-Universe, with characters actively commenting on it.
