It's not dead!

New screenshots released.

The developer says they're in... Final Release Phase.

I'm kinda surprised, but not holding my breath. A Summer release may be unlikely.

Oh. Really now. Because they were in final release state almost 4 years ago and then mysterious delays. I remain hostilely skeptic having been burned before by these guys.

Yeah, Valve Time is a pain.

What is this game exactly? A sequel to the first Half-Life concerning the people that aren't Gorden Freeman, Barney Calhoun, Adrian Shepard, or the two Decay women?

Its a source remake of the first game made by a small modding team. the damn thing has been under work for at least 10 years now.

It started in 2005, so 7 years.

This will best illustrate the game:

Was it 2005? Hrrumph its been so long I have forgotten how old the damn thing is though. Still they were supposed to have finished in 2009 (As the trailer indicates).

Yes, the old, possibly outdated trailer will demonstrate the game well.

Really, media on this mod is nearly as highly-anticipated as the mod itself.

Keep in mind they've basically had to rebuild everything and add a lot of stuff the original lacked. After that trailer, they really hated that they were rushing to get it done. I'm surprised that they would give a phase estimate, even with all the progress they made

Yeah, they can't be that close to a release already, as nice as that would be.

Do want. Been wanting for a few years, at least.

My only hope is that it will be worth the wait.

Honestly they should have built the whole thing from scratch, it kind of looks like shit.

I'm pretty sure they are building everything from the ground up, other than the Source Engine itself.

Honestly, the screenshots, beyond some grainyness look fantastic to me. It's probably a file type issue.

That rocket launcher is a little excessive it takes up half the damn screen.

Well, it wasn't really compact in the original Half Life. And why shouldn't it be, anyways? It's a freaking anti-tank weapon (or anti-air, since it's doubles as a TOW launcher).

The rocket launcher took up a huge amount of screen in HL 1.

Original Rocket Launcher

Modern Rocket Launcher.

Difference? About twice the vertical height. and you cannot see to the right of you. (After factoring in aspect ratios they are the same width. Theoretically.)

Well, it's still one of Half-Life's BFGs. Does it really matter how big it is, considering that you're supposed to use it on massive targets?

It matters if it blocks one side of the whole screen, don't you think? A blind spot is a very bad thing in a first person shooter. It tends to hide the bad guys.

When you use the rocket launcher, it's seldom EVER needed.
