[up][up] Here's the gameplay video in question, skip to 17:33 to the mission ("Sacrum Profanum").

[up][up] Depends in my view. If it's a trope about a specific singular quality/trope that relies on context of another specific trope, yes. But if it's a trope about a general quality that literally the entire topic is mentioning (that Maelstrom are kinda fucked and evil in this case) and something that WILL be brought up in anything regards to them, What's the problem? At a certain point you'd have every single trope having to cite how evil they are and I think almost any reader would get the point by then.

[up][up] Cheers!

Yeah seems they're being painted as (on the face of it) one of the worst. The others seem pretty... vile in their own ways but not necessarily as overt.

Heck the Moxxies come close to being near honourable in their intentions!

But yeah, rewatching, seems Maelstrom (Under Royce) are very much Axe-Crazy butchers. Wonder if (As apparently in that mission you can free the former leader who Royce betrayed) you can make them a little LESS awful...

[up][up] Every trope entry on the wiki is required to have full context that stands on its own, without relying on other trope entries on the page.

Cyberpunk 2077 is not the sole exception to wiki policy on this matter.

Crate is right. All entries have to have an appropriate context. You are supposed to write an entry as if the reader will not have the information. Each entry on a work page is supposed to be able to stand on its own. Even the how to write an entry page says an entry should have context and not point to other tropes on the page.

To keep the new work page from becoming messy before the big rush of new entries hits when the game releases, drawing new editors and readers, everything should be done right from the outset.

That's not what I meant, but I think the point isn't worth pursuing any longer.

So, um...

Remember a while back, with the whole "ad fetishizing trans women" thing, and then CDPR went "Its supposed to be dystopic"?

Well, as part of their cosplay contest they seem to have done so for real. (I can't link, because somewhat NSFW).

Uh...I don't know, you all, once is a mistake, twice is an issue, CDPR has had issues with Transphobia more times than I can count at this point, mostly revolving around this game...

The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -Fighteer

[up]Oy, that's a touchy subject...

Anyway, an unboxing video for a Cyberpunk Collector's Box reveals a weird Cyberpunk-themed diskette. As in an old-fashioned floppy disk.

CDPR never really talked about this diskette, did they? I tried looking up info on it last night, but nothing. Think this diskette does something or is it just for show?

I doubt it does anything, judging from its state. Worse yet, the guy covered the warning on the bottom on the label with his finger, and I'm assuming it's something along the lines "Do not insert into a drive".

Because whatever crud's inside, it would make short work of any vintage floppy drive people might still have.

I doubt there's anything harmful in the drive, as that would just be CDPR asking for trouble. All that paint all over the entire thing is definitely going to render it unreadable to a floppy driver at best, though. At worst it gets stuck inside.

So according to the Rides of the Dark Future featurette, there's 40 models of vehicles available in the game. And CDP just revealed that Rayfield apparently goes with Arms and Armor Theme Naming for theirs: in addition to already revealed Aerondight, their another model is named Caliburn.

OK, so I just put the Rides of the Dark Future featurette into a video editor to fish for Freeze-Frame Bonus. Here's the list of revealed car brands and models:

  • Economy:
    • Makigai Maimai - that comically small shopping cart resembling Chery QQ and Daewoo Matiz.
    • Thorton Colby - the one that looks AMC Gremlin. Hopefully, not a Pinto.
    • Archer Hella - the sedan your dad would drive. Made in China, so try not to sneeze too loudly inside.
    • Thorton Galena - that Yugo-like thing.
    • Unnamed Datsun Cherry-like banger
    • Mahir minivan
  • Executive:
    • Villefort Alvarado - the over-the-top kitschy chariot with double front wheels.
    • Villefort Cortes - also kitted out by Delamain with their specialist features - you know, auto-pilot, armor plating, the works.
    • Chevillon Thrax - a classier ride for the corporate middle managers.
  • Heavy Duty:
    • Kaukaz Bratsk - it'll fit a tilting skip, a massive fuel tank, it'll probably tow a space rocket if need be.
    • Kaukaz Zeya - it's a truck, but SMOL. A Soviet Toyota Hiace would be another way to describe it.
    • The Beast - heavily customized (and armored) Thorton Mackinaw pickup truck.
    • Militech Behemoth - obviously built as a response to the Bratsk, it's a fuckhuge, angular truck slash APC.
  • Sports:
    • Quadra Type 66 - that yellow muscle car shown early on some screenshots.
    • Mizutani Shion - in best shape, it looks like a Porsche 944.
    • Quadra Turbo-R - Jackie's sweet-ass ride.
  • Hypercars:
    • Herrera Outlaw - the Porsche Panamera one with a comb-like taillight.
    • Rayfield Caliburn - the more Veyron-y Veyron.
    • Rayfield Aerondight - the one you steal. Looks like a cross between Corvette Stingray and Bugatti Veyron.

Loved the fashion vignettes and how they make sense in the world; rather than just going for "hey its all NEON".

And the cars look fun; each with its own interior and design.

This definitely looks like a world you could realistically occupy and will demand your attention when you play.

Mind you, those are supposedly less than half of the basic models. And each of the basic models comes in at least four versions: banger, normal, high-end and custom, the last one being player-exclusive.

Also, I just remembered: when the 2018 gameplay reveal came out, the Minkiewicz brothers released a quick four-panel WILQ – Superbohater strip on the comic's FB page, deriding the game for not having "awful signmaking and fat old slags in the streets".

CDP's community management team responded "We're working on this!" and attached the game's logo made with Comic Sans. And then, fat people started showing up in the game's promotional materials.

One more thing: I had to get the Tokyo Game Show 2020 gameplay video, as it contains a sequence necessary for my livestream intro. Turns out, someone on Youtube added English subtitles to it, and there's one interesting thing regarding Dexter DeShawn: in the drone purchase sequence, the 2018 English version has Royce say something along the lines of "Fat old fuck, golden arm? That him?", while the TGS version has something subtitled "The man who ruined Pacifica?" (and you can clearly hear Royce say "Pashifika" in Japanese).

Looks like the cars can have more variety across a single base model than I thought. The basic Thorton Colby looks like an AMC Gremlin or a Pinto, right?

CD Projekt revealed Thorton Colby Butte today. It looks like an El Camino/Ranchero thing with offroad suspension, but it's still, supposedly, a Thorton Colby.

Two things for today, in weird moonspeak:

  • The Yugo-like thing is called Thorton Galena. I won't be surprised if the Nomad version lives up to its name, Gecko, by driving up walls.
  • If you don't speak Japanese (I don't), but speak Polish (I do), the heist briefing scene with Polish dub is out on Youtube. The dub is shit, as usual, you can't tell Jackie and Dex apart when they're talking, BUT. There's a new bit of info involving Evelyn Parker. Turns out that the entire hyped braindance thing from the revealed gameplay happens very early on, you get the grocery holdup as a tutorial, and then a BD involving Yorinobu Arasaka that helps you figure out the security for his penthouse. From which, you steal the Relic.

So in the comments on the game's Facebook page, someone posted a screenshot of a basic version of the pickup featured twice in "Rides of the Dark Future" (as "The Beast" and in the rapid-fire parking lot montage in the beginning).

It's called Thorton Mackinaw.
