[up][up][up]Ahh thanks for the clear up, her accent makes it hard to tell.

I am not familiar with Shadowrun so I am not sure if its the same thing there. What I do know is that hacking is a very common thing in the Cyberpunk genre and kill programs are commonly seen in cyberpunk though

One such example is Drugs And Wires. The whole plot of that webcomic starts after our protag nearly gets killed by an kill program called Skullfuck and the program is targeting other folks that have their brains hooked up to neural technology.

[up][up]Ah, I see. I've only saw Shadowrun Returns LP, so I was wondering from where IC originated.

With all the ICE and Black ICE, there's bound to be a political joke in here somewhere.

TLDR: So some "game journalist" broke NDA with the developers CD Red to not record the gameplay demo of the game and uploaded the audio recordings online which CD Red had the audio recording remove for copyright. And the guy has the gall to complain about on CD Red actions even though he brought this upon himself.

From what I had seen on other sources there wasn't an actual signed NDA's for the event. However they did ask that they not record or take pictures. The gist of it is that he is bitching they didn't stop him from recording audio. Another writer who commented on closed door sessions they had been in pointed out it was common practice to allow audio recording with the understanding it was for note taking purposes only.

Of course the guy obviously abused the spirit if not the letter of the request and so far is the only one to step over the line. He is also failing to understand that CDPR has every right to keep unreleased copy righted material out of the public domain. I am fairly sure it was explained at some point that they didn't want this material out there beyond the written impressions. The loose consensus seems to be that the guy has been around long enough and to enough game shows and even closed door events that he should have known better and did this to gain attention for the flagging site he writes for.

Mysterious news, CD Projekt Red's Twitch channel is streaming some sort of strange code

[up] And an Italian game site is talking about something happening at 7 PM CET. Something we should be "The first persons..." to see.

Yeah, reckon we've got gameplay incoming.

Also, apparently Cyberpunk is now "feature complete" in terms of story, assets etc - you can play from start to finish (latest interview at Gamescon, can't find the link) but art assets, testing and optimisation needs to be finished.

MAYBE 2019?

[up] 2020 seems more likely...and symbolic, given that the original board game was set in 2020.

Well.

Um.

DAMN.

That was awesome. DX HR / MK beaten hands down on the city, if they pull it off.

Gunplay looked Dishonoured-when-you-let-loose fun. Like how you potentially COULD do the whole thing social / stealth - buying the stuff clean etc. So if you want to be a "face" you PROBABLY could.

Daymn though it was beautiful. And the customisation and the menu and the whole 80's techpunk aesthetic. Yep... yep, amazing.

So, they've said before that non-violent paths won't always be available, and the gameplay we saw was mostly focused on the gun combat. And hey, I saw some 'kill' objectives once all hell broke loose during the negotiation. But the prompts to do non-lethal takedowns (I think at one point used situationally to hack into everyone) made me wonder how stealth would've played out.

From what I could tell it looks like, say, compared to Deus Ex stealth is taking a much bigger backseat, something I'm fine with. But the cybernetics seem to open up some mobility options what with the hanging off the wall and whatnot. Might be interesting to watch the game be speedrun'd.

EDIT: Here's the gameplay on YouTube, for anyone who missed it on Twitch.

...That was awesome. I have to admit that I am almost done with Neuromancer so this is an easy sell at this point. Speaking of which for those that haven't. You totally need to pick up the book or get the audiobook.

Damn makes me want to play the pen and paper Cyberpunk or Shadow Run.

I've been sitting on Shadowrun Returns for a while. I'll probably give it a run through soon-ish to fill in my current, sudden cyberpunky urges.

It reminds me more of Dishonored gameplay wise which is a good thing. My only complaint is that some more dialogue options would be cool but it is an small alpha stage slice of the game so I wasn't expecting as much as we got.

[up][up]I've also been sitting on Shadowrun Returns, specifically Dragonfall. I'm really bad about isometric games. I just can't get into them at all.

My only issue with the mantis blades is that they didn't have enough oomph I think but that could be easily solved with the timeframe they got till launch which is still a long while away.

Wispy: In what way? They looked pretty powerful to me especially killing two guys who are like the rest of their gang are heavily cyberized. Burying in concrete to climb up a wall, instantly impaling some guys cyberized head clean through, and two quick slashes that were clearly wrecking the second guy before his head is removed. That looks like a lot of oomph to me. They were pretty much dead the second the blades were used. Looks just like someone killing a mook with a pair of absurdly sharp swords only they are the freaky cybernetic arm blades.

[up]The sound of them connecting with the Maelstrom thug me didn't feel...visceral enough to me I think?

Thats about it. Very minor issue I had that I am willing to overlook.

I wonder if you can climb buildings with that thing.

Like you have a mission at a penthouse located at the top of a skyscraper & instead of sneaking or fighting your way through you just take the really long way & scale the building.

You can even do a badass jump off the top of an already tall building & attach yourself just in time before you fall to death.

Heh, man I'm new to the train but basically sold. Working through that gameplay video now and... There's a lot of awesome stuff. It's obviously basically a scripted movie in that "Gameplay" demo but the ideas are all still there and it's been too long since I've played a sprawling RPG like this. Mostly because I've been specifically avoiding them thanks to lack of free time, but hey.

I just hope a melee build is viable.
