Some of you guys probably read about this by now, but Lost Legends was listed as a New York Times Best Seller in the Children's Series section! I wonder how much of it has been leaked on the Internet by now...?

And about Pacifica: Yeah, the way she treated Mabel wasn't cool at all. It's messed up, but I got to admit, Pacifica didn't act as awful to her after the whole incident with the Lilliputtians. That and... I'm pretty sure she's jealous of Mabel for having so much freedom and support—Pacfica didn't have any of that from her own parents. And, I don't really think Pacifica's situation qualifies as something of a "stereotype". Her parents seemed to have had her on a figurative leash with "high standards", plus that whole bell business. Seriously, what's up with that? I guess I could see this being normal for butlers... but for your own kid? I dunno, I think Pacifica putting her foot down and not listening to her parents for once is a step in the right direction. She DID save everyone that got cursed from becoming a permanent tree-person decoration!

And death, that Lumberjack nearly burned down the manor. Which makes being made of wood a lot suckier then.

She was also the first Northwest in history to ever do the unthinkable: touch the hillbilly.

It doesn't even make sense.

It's a reference to the finale, where Pacifica holds hands with McGucket. So yeah, kind of a spoiler, but only if you know the context.

Just before the group holds hands to form the prophecy circle, Preston Northwest urges Pacifica, "Do what no one in our family has ever done. Touch the hillbilly."

Some of you were saying that the show was so good that it should have continued, that it could have serve to flesh out the characters more.

Which is great, but, I don't if it was only my imagination or also a result of the show ending early, but I cannot help but think that the show didn't like grunkle Ford much, and if that's true, then he may have become a worse character if it continued; or who knows, mayebe he could have gotten a Pacifica treatment but better.

Also, did someone say something about Fred Fredburger? I don't see it, is her english voice? I'm from venezuela.

No, you're right. The show doesn't like Ford very much.

It pretty much goes out of its way to present him as a problem-causer, not a problem-solver. He's reclusive, egotistical, and doesn't think very highly of other people, and these traits consistently undermine his efforts to combat Bill - who, mind you, is only capable of being as threatening as he is because of all the hard work Ford put into helping him.

Pretty much anything Ford does to actually help ends in disaster unless one of the other family members is doing it for him. For instance, Ford's plan to protect the Mystery Shack from Bill failed miserably while Mabel succeeded at the unicorn hair idea, which Ford had utterly dismissed out of hand as impossible.

And that's when he's not actively causing new problems, like driving a wedge between Dipper and Mabel in "Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future".

Now, YMMV on just how bad Ford is in all this and/or whether or not he was justified in his actions. But the show's stance is pretty clear: Ford, within the context of the show, is considered to be a bad person because he doesn't value other people. Not even family.

Word of God says that Pacifica probably got a job at Greasy's Diner after she lost her manor. That's probably the closest we'll get to finding out what happens to any of the characters afterwards. Well, maybe it happened before Dipper and Mabel left. Either way, I'm glad I don't have to worry (as much at least) about her parents going crazy after losing their manor.

It's funny because I remember watching the last episode and thinking it would have a Babies Ever After ending. When it didn't, I remembered watching the last episode of Regular Show and thinking, "Nah, they're not gonna do that here either"...and they did!

I got my endings mixed up! Stupid wild mass guessing! The fact that there were sequel hooks in the last episode was brilliant. It's still better off being a Riddle for the Ages though.

So I picked up the complete series, but only on dvd, I couldnt find the blu-ray. Does the blu-ray have any bonus features outside of commentaries (which I'm perfectly content with to be honest)?

Yeah, they're the same in terms of content. Just curious, but did you buy the Collector's Edition, or the regular edition? The Collector's Edition is the one with a third case in it, which has the Special Features disc with deleted scenes and other neat stuff. If you don't have a third case, then it sounds like you picked up the regular edition!

On an unrelated note, here's another update: Is anyone here into LEGOs? Did you ever want to build the Mystery Shack out of LEGOs? Because the idea's been pitched: there COULD be an official LEGO Mystery Shack!

What is the point of a cartoon on Blu-ray anyway? Is the quality really that much better?

I would totally buy a Lego Mystery Shack if only to imagine some weird lost episode where all the cast was turned into Legos. What? It could happen.

As for Ford, the real life Journal 3 and Lost Legends go a long way towards making him a better character, by either justifying his previous actions (turns out Bill was pretty much right on the other side of the portal when Stan opened it, which helps explain why he was so pissed about it) or making him an unambiguously heroic character (all four of the Lost Legends stories, and basically saving the day in two of them).

Even so, I can't say I really disliked him to begin with. Maybe it's because I'm a bit of a social recluse myself, but I found him endearing and sympathetic more than anything.

I wouldn't say he was a bad character in the first place. Just that the show presents him as being clearly and unambiguously wrong about his worldview. Thus his role as problem-causer rather than problem-solver. His experiences both with Stan and with Bill have made him both paranoid and egotistical, to the detriment of those around him.

That's not a bad thing. In any given story, some people are inevitably going to be wrong and have to either be thwarted or learn an important lesson. For Ford, that lesson is the value of family and to a lesser extent friends, which he takes steps towards over the course of the series and finally embraces after Stan's sacrifice.

"Other people matter" is basically Ford's journey.
