Popotan is a no-brainer. Children having sex. Not something that could stay. Popotan is one of these annoying edge cases - got too much fanservice of young people while being aimed at adults.

There aren't any specific guidelines, per se, but here is a good example. (example ctsy. Pyrite)

For the P5: do we know if Cat ever voted? He mentioned holding off until later in the Popotan thread but there's four votes, only the three devils of which I can identify.

At the very least check out the thread on Popotan.

There's also the links in the index thread (ctrl f, search for Popotan).

That should give you an idea of what discussion has already happened on the subject.

Remember works can be cut for porn or pedophile-pandering and Popotan was cut for the later.

If you want to appeal it I'd suggest making the case clearly for why it isn't with reference to the reasons it was cut in the first place.

It's been some years since I watched popotan so I cannot make a good argument on-the-go I'll have to watch it again in order to be prepared to make a properly made case.

After some mild research, I can conclude that the visual novel is porn and should not be in tvTropes, no doubts there. Still I still think the anime deserves a place here. I'll watch the anime again this or next month, when my friend borrows me that DVD again.

How about moetan? You didn't write anything about moetan...

Edit: Where can I find the definition of pedophile-pandering? I can't find it searching in google or wikipedia or even my english encyclopedias (yes, it's a book) even though they are old.

As for the definition of pedophile pandering, something that panders to pedophiles? It's a judgment call, hence the panel.

There's no hard rules; quite often this is a judgement call.

There's some Word of Mod guidelines in this post regarding what is being looked at.

As far as I remember the P5 cut moetan for excessive fanservice of young characters. There was some discussion if you search the links thread.

The anime of Popotan seems to lack the kids having sex issue, but the fanservice was excessive? I'm asking.

Yeah, it was a judgment call there. Unless the rest of the work was better (because as far as I heard it was based upon the first episodes), it can't come back.

Just looked into the popotan vn and it has a 17+ version on ps2 http://vndb.org/r497 that probable wont save it considering the reason for cutting, also I think popotan was argued over mostly because of the meme it spawned.

And wasn't Moetan supposed to teach English to otaku in Japan? I don't remember us reviewing the books, study aids or whatever but that was likely due to not having any available and the page being abut the anime.

Anime.Moetan is paedopandering and an ineffective teaching aid. Anime.Popotan has a thread and Meeble's post there should be a good indication.

I remember that, the other wiki says there were some books as well I figure they have a small chance of being better either for content or as a study aid but yeah the anime sounds face palm inducing.

Didn't the books actually come first?

Although from what I've heard they were more ridiculous in terms of just what sort of phrases they were trying to teach.

In that case I think I don't have statements that are big enough for you to revive it. About it being porn, I have them. About being pedobear approved, I have nothing to contradict it (also because I also think it is pedobear approved). According to what I read (thx Ultimately Subjective) the admins don't want pedoshit. According to what I understood, both moetan and Popotan may be classified as pedoshit as they do arose pedophiles. Also it has no real value in content... Even though I don't like it seems like I have no other option than to accept P5's decision...

Sorry if this is a weird thing to say, but... First you say "Pedobear approved", then you say "pedoshit"? I can't tell whether you're in support of it (as most people who like the Pedobear meme*

tend to be), or completely against it (as the vulgar "pedoshit" would imply).

"Pedobear approved" is not really meant to be a supportive statement, given who he is.

Interesting. How I've tended to see "pedobear approved" used before was quite the opposite - I've even seen people who by all appearances are openly proud of such "approval".

edit: Memes evolve and in some cases devolve Chris Hansen has mostly replaced the 'your creepy' use of pedobear.

edit: In this case I believe brunoais is using it to mean 'things this bear likes are not allowed on this wiki and this looks like something he would like'.
