Porn and sex sells. Any company can do that.
Nintendo has their Love Hotels, after all. It shouldn't be that unusual, really.
Quest 64 threadIs it at least Plot With Porn?
HodorNot really. Any "plot" in the part I read was just set up for more sex. As for why everyone wants rights to it, because it's really popular porn. I have no idea how they'd turn it into anything even R rated without a lot of rewriting.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIs there a Bleached Underpants version to check out?
Quest 64 threadSex sells, yes, but porn rarely sells like this book has. BSDM porn, even less so. I'm not denying the possibility that it really is porn. I'm just saying that the reviews seem to suggest there's more to it than that, and the sales figures seem to suggest there's more to it than that.
Furthermore, if the studios didn't think people (the huge, huge fanbase) were interested in the story, why would they bother making a bleached underpants version? Would anyone be interested in a bleached underpants version of Deep Throat or Debbie Does Dallas? I suppose it's possible that they think the name and a fleshing out of the excuse plot (if that's what it is) will be enough to guarantee big box office, but it seems risky, and studios are notoriously risk-averse these days.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Whether it is or not, it's not a good sign when even the Wikipedia page makes it sound like porn.
And in my opinion, most Hollywood adaptations are generally more about name recognition, rather than what the source material really is.
I'm pretty sure there's no Bleached Underpants version.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Hmm, the description on The Other Wiki seems worse than I remembered. It does occur to me that I've never seen any reviews describe any plot elements other than BDSM, and while based on Twilight, it doesn't seem to have any supernatural elements, so...
So basically, not sure if it's possible to defend the plot any. I guess I don't see any harm with keeping it and locking the page. It's not like anyone would come down on us for having a page on it.
HodorPorn rarely sells like this has, which makes it all the more astounding to me. I think it's the fact that it's socially acceptable porn which is something that there isn't much of for women at the moment. It's the idea that if everyone is reading this porn novel, I can read this porn novel. It's basically a lot of people suddenly exploiting a loophole in "Women aren't allowed to consume porn."
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOff-topic, but I just find it funny that most of twenty-something women I know are like "... the stuff in my kink meme is better written than this".

Also the reaction of most women I know, but the women I know are mostly gamers and geeks and not average women. Also, it tends to be women in their 40's who are buying the book. Not women in their 20's.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOkay, the book is bought a lot. But that's ultimately irrelevant anyway. It's porn, correct?

"four-year-old woman"
We are not okay with that.
Seriously though. I agree, which is why my assumption (possibly incorrect) is that it was porn in the sense of "trashy romance novel sex scenes".

I can also read it and provide an opinion, if people think additional opinion is needed. It looks like I can get it in e-book form from my local library; otherwise you'd have to wait a bit because the hold list is huge.

It's porn. It's porn I approve of because despite being badly written, it doesn't fall into certain bad stereotypes while still being slightly feminist, but that doesn't mean it should be put on TV Tropes.

Perhaps it would help to see the actual material that was on the page? I think at least part of the reason we don't trope porn is because it lacks anything to talk about apart from the creepy gushing. If there's a suitably high amount of that perhaps the page would be salvageable in some form or another.
So Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony and Universal all got into a bidding war for the rights to make...a porno film? Still seems implausible to me.
