When I saw "someone long awaited is going to be making an appearance at an upcoming event," my mind immediately went to "is it someone from the studio? Is there finally news about upcoming projects?"

When I found out it was actually for a throwback music concert, I'll admit my hopes dropped somewhat.

People who like hearing Cha La Head Cha La live should be ecstatic, though.

I hope he sings more than just CHC. We Gotta Power, We Were Angels, Kimi ga Hero, Hikari no Tabi, and so on...

On Frieza, I'm wondering if the statement Toriyama made in an interview about him and his father means they are evil by nature, or it just means no-one else in their species compares to them in evil. From what little we can grasp from the story itself Frieza is an unholy mixture of Privilege Makes You Evil and being raised by an uncaring and evil parent.

What statement?

It was stated Freezer and his dad are mutants which is why they're both absurdly powerful and so evil.

if cooler was ever brought into super's continuity would he be a mutant too?

Likely, although, after Broly, I could see him getting a significant rework.

Could be a good opportunity to finally explore Freeza's race beyond the scraps we know about them now

If he hasn't done it before, I doubt he'll do it now.

The closest we got was Frost, who was just Frieza mk. 2.

But I suppose if they ever feel the need, it's on the table. We've recently learned there were namekians on places beyond Earth.

Well, we don't know if Frost's species are extinct or not. Cabba exposed his crimes, so maybe his force did have some good people who didn't know his misgivings.

Gotta love manga Frost being just a dick.

Toriyama might not be interested in exploring Frieza's race, but Toyotaro might.

That said, Toyotaro writes like pretty much what you'd expect from a big ol' Dragon Ball fanboy, so if he does decide to flesh out Frieza's race, they'll probably just be a race of Freizas. Immensely powerful guys who transform a lot and are probably predisposed to evil. Exactly what Toriyama didn't want and the reason why he's refused to ever even give them a name.

Toyotaro is sadly the former.

Toriyama describing Freeza and Cold as hybrids of a sort and mutants implies that Freeza and Cold don't have a species persay. They're like mules or zorses. Having Freeza's "race" be Always Chaotic Evil would be kind of lame.

Related, I wonder if Cell's sociopathy is the fault of having Freeza and Cold's DNA and if they weren't added into the mix he wouldn't be pure evil, or being pure evil is inevitable because he was raised by Gero as the ultimate weapon

Cell is a mix of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Freeza, down to the personality. Hell, at the end, he was pretty much Freeza with Goku's attitude towards fighting.

Would be funny if he absorbed personality from 17 and 18

Say, I'd like to request again someone give me a quick "cliff notes" summary of the Online/Xenoverse/Heroes "saga." I know these games are all related to each other somehow and are now a pretty big part of the franchise, but they seem so convoluted I wouldn't know where to begin with them, and I've struck out asking around.

Any help is much appreciated.

Playing through Kakarot, and my favorite thing so far is that according to the in-game stats Vegeta is exactly as good at cooking as he is at fighting.

I guess they were thinking about instant ramen.

So is that a sweet dunk on his fighting skills or a demonstration of how good his cooking skills are?

That depends on how good he is at cooking.

If the food is not just edible, but actually tastes good, then it means Vegeta is a pretty sweet fighter.

Roasted bug-man is a pretty good recipe.

I hope if we ever see Freeza's species, they just look like humanoid lizard people kinda similar to Freeza's 4th form, they have none of his abilities, and their average Power Level is, like, 10.

I remember Toriyama once said in an interview that the two best cooks among the cast are Ox King and Yamcha.

The whole video game canon is pretty weird because while they are connected, they aren't necessarily canon to each other. Like one game might follow-up on a previous game's story while also retconning or removing other aspects, sometimes even adding entirely different storylines that somehow merge into the overarching plot. Common key points between all modern games over the past decade are:

• Towa and Mira are usually the villains in some capacity (but not always the main ones)
• The Time Patrol are usually around in some capacity
• Time travel plays a huge roll
• A lot of what-if scenarios and forms happen
• Characters from different timelines tend to get mind controlled in various ways

Now for things that certain games have added to the lore, Dragon Ball Online:

• Takes place in Age 1000
• All humans have a small bit of saiyan DNA, but can only go Super Saiyan by dragon ball
• Beastmen create the Red Pants Army to rise against the humans, though some higher members are either decendants or ressurected members of the Red Ribbon Army
• Mira has a sister named Churai who can shapeshift
• Lord Narak is a dark namekian similar to King Piccolo, and has an army of mutated, dragon-like dark namekians
• This game introduced the Red-Eye Namekian form, but only in the opening cutscene
• Fu is introduced as a baby

Dragon Ball Xenoverse:

• Takes place during the 850's
• The main hero of the first game is canonically named Ace
• Demigra is introduced, along with the concept of "Demon Gods"
• Mira is destroyed and rebuilt to become stronger between the two games
• Trunks tries saving Future Gohan even though he knows he can't mess with timeline
• Mira's SS5-esque fusion with Towa is introduced
• Bardock escapes his mind control and is seemingly wandering through timelines
• Bulma creates a game using figues called the Hero Colosseum
• An older Fu appears as a wild card who wants to mess with time just for fun and experimentation

Dragon Ball Heroes:

• According to the original manga, the game was made sometime before the events of A Hero's Legacy
• The game was created by the Capsule Corp, based on legends of Goku and his friends and family
• Towa's Time Breakers eventually become the Demon Realm Army, headed by Mechikabura
• The Supreme Kai of Time's name is revealed to be Chronoa
• Demigra and his secretary Rovel reluctantly side with the Time Patrol to help overthrow Mechikabura
• A ton of characters get new forms (Baby Hatchiyack, Ultimate Goten, Golden Meta-Cooler, etc...)
• Characters from other games and manga get added (Neko Majin, Kuriza, Android 21, Ozotto, etc...)
• Sealas is a former Galactic Patrolman and Time Patroller who went rouge after noticing the restrictions Chronoa places on time patrollers when it comes to saving people
• Fu's experiments become more erratic, with his goal being to eventually create a new universe
• Cumber is an ancient saiyan with a dark aura who can make anyone who comes in contact become berserk
• Hearts along his ragtag group of fighters try to take over the multiverse so he could eventually try to overthrow the Zenos
• Fu eventually figures out he's Towa and Mira's son and absorbs Mechikabura's energy to become the next Dark Lord
• A new, incomplete universe has currently been created
• Red-Eye Namekians are finally playable, along with a slew of other new avatar-related forms
• Beat is revealed to be the direct descendent of Goku.

Dragon Ball Fusions:

• Two rivals name Tekka and Pinich accidentally merge all timelines together via the dragon balls
• This in turn creates a interdimensional Timespace Tournament
• Pinich's mentor is Vegeta but his idol is Mr. Satan
• The game introduces 5-way fusions called "Ultra Fusions", created by the Ginyu Force
• Bulma creates Metamo-Rings for fusions without time restrictions
• The game introduces a ton of new fusions and brings back obscure ones (Karoly, Vegenks, Brapan, Tiencha, Prillin, etc...)
• Towa and Mira briefly appear to turn Broly into a Legendary Oozaru
• Saiba-King is a powerful saibaman made up of multiple saibamen fused together
• The Doola Force is an all-female version of the Ginyu Force, with their leader being the Jeice counterpart

DBZ Kakarot:

• Explains what certain characters from the first half of DB were doing during the events of DBZ
• It also explains why the Beastmen population declined during DBZ, due to humans stop taking a drug from the Red Ribbon Army that made them into beastmen
• Bonyu was a former Ginyu Force member who was rejected due to not posing hard enough
• Android 21's human self seems to make frequent appearances throughout the game for some reason
• Towa and Mira appear as the final boss, putting this game's placement between XV1 and XV2

There's probably more plot points that I'm missing, but those were the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I would've included FighterZ and Legends, but their stories don't seem to be currently connected to the rest of the video game canon outside of cameos.
