Like, is there a reason why you couldn't just wait for that battery to run out, or something. Unless Kayaba is just going to replace any low-energy ones as soon as he gets the chance, I dunno.

Also I lol'd hard at the mirror part showing a girl as a malnourished guy.

Why doesn't anyone here mention Argo(the Rat)? Seriously, that is one character I really want to see. Never mind that she is two bit and only appears once. I wonder if she got killed...

@First Day: It is NOT safe to talk about first day if there are anime only people about. First day...will probably be skipped altogether, unless it is shown in flashback.

Also, who is Egal? maybe you're talking about Agil/Egil (Agil is the one I prefer, since it is short for his real name, Andrew Gilbert, similar to Kirito)

Simple: the internal battery keeps it running for a while... but then fires your brain before it runs out of energy/if it is disconnected from a power source for too long.

Yes, that is incredibly simple. Remember, all he has to do is err on the side of death to make it a suitable deathtrap. Better to kill a few more innocents than to provide an escape route. Also, since he designed the hardware too the deathtrap can be appropriately complete. So it could have things like "kill if they tamper with the battery case".

So many spoilers... It's taking a lot of effort, but so far I've managed to resist the temptation to read them.

Anyway, I almost skipped this because I knew nothing about it, but after watching the OP I decided to take a look. After watching the first episode I'm definitely going to follow SAO to the end.

Survival game in an MMORPG? Cool.

Production values are top-notch, and the directing is solid, even great. I was particularly impressed with the after-ED segment, I thought it really captured the direness of the situation.

All in all a fantastic first episode. I like it better than AW already!

My thoughts after reading this:

• Heh. People's reactions to the (probable) next episode should be interesting. (And now that I have read the second volume of side-stories, I agree with the "one-month" foreshadowing plot being next)
• I thought the "blood dripping from the ceiling" accomplished that a bit better
• Once you know that that obelisk is placed in the room where people were respawning during the beta and up until the announcement, it's an even more fitting backdrop.

Word of warning: Since the anime focuses on the early parts of the Light Novel series, the trope page is spoilery as hell. It could use some Wiki Magic from those who have already read the LNs to tag damn near everything.

For example, the ending twist of the first volume was sitting totally unspoilered right on the main page. Things like that are bad.

Considering how there are currently 9 volumes+other side stories, I can understand why some of the ending of the first volume is not spoiled (there are at least 3 different things you could be referring to—don't specify).

Still, I'll take a look.

Well, at least one little detail was left out, but with that knowledge it will be very easy to spot the forshadowing for that detail.

EDIT 2: I don't think there is any way to adequately spoiler the fact that (spoilered in case someone disagrees) Kirito ends up playing other VRMMORPG's so I won't even bother with the Acronym and Abbreviation Overload entry and others like it.

Of course. Though I'm also noticing a few Character tropes on the main page that could be moved and not spoilered.

Although I'm not sure why the description for Cold Sniper is spoilered.

All I can think of is that whoever put that down considered Gun Gale Online to be a spoiler, which it isn't.

Initial description has been cleared of the time frame spoiler and I don't think there is anything too bad in A-D. Someone want to double check that as I work on the next set?

Their status as the official couple is really not much of a spoiler if you've seen the trailer and the OP. I think that their in-game marriage should be a spoiler, though.

Guess what I did while going through the rest of the tropes.

Anyways, I made some little changes to various tropes sense I was on the edit page anyway, added a couple more spoilers, and removed the "You Fail Physics Forever" entry. Though I can see it coming back for other reasons, the entry it had was disproven and involved natter.

Personally, I don't like reading works pages unless I'm already familiar with them or don't care about spoilers for it. They're sort of "read at your own risk" by default.

However, if you have to ask if something's a spoiler then the answer is obviously yes. This isn't rocket science. Everything is a spoiler if it hasn't happened yet.

Just realized there were a couple of questions I didn't answer and want to:

@90: Yes. Though I took out or spoilered everything that said the time frame so that people aren't certain when the end is until it occurs.

@92: Definitely need to treat that as a spoiler. While it is fairly obvious from the audience perspective at the time, we should not reveal more info than the anime tells us about that particular character. Even if said character has yet to appear.

That's taken care of, then.
