Elementals tend to go for places the 'Mech can't reach, lest the giant grabby robot hand get them. Add to that where the back of the neck is also often where cockpit access is, and yes, there have been a couple of Attack On Titan reenactments in the fluff.
Though the ones I remember well predate the anime.
Nous restons ici.Ah, I see.
On a tangent, what are everyone's favourite 'mech design(s), if any?
Locking you up on radar since '09Definitely the Mad Cat aka "Timberwolf". It just looks so believable being little more then a gaint box with arms and legs attached.
hashtagsarestupidPXH-1; not so much in terms of looks but capability. Otherwise, I've designed a few of my own down the years.

Nous restons ici.I've always been akin to the Vulture/Mad Dog, myself. Badass mech, it is.
My favourites are the ones from the Mechwarrior 2 line (and therefore are all Clan 'mechs):
- All-time favourite is the iconic-to-me Timber Wolf.
- Close runner up is the agile-looking Mad Dog.
- Followed by the bulky Stone Rhino.
- Fourth place is the first of non-chicken walkers, the brutal Hellbringer.
- And last is the simple-but-effective Summoner.
The Shadow Cat gets an honourable mention too.
If we're looking at Inner Sphere designs:
- The revamped Bushwacker.
- The classic Warhammer.
- The no-nonsense Rifleman.
And a much more recent design I like is the Raptor II, which looks like a meaner, more heavily-armed and -armoured Raven.
Warhammer II-C, Atlas, Daishi, Thor, Mad Cat, the usual hits. Oh, and the Steiner Axeman from the cartoon.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe Axeman isn't cartoon-only. Pretty sure Kai actually used one when he made himself legend taking down a whole Cluster.
Nous restons ici.I meant Adam Steiner's from the cartoon specifically.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWhy his specifically? It doesn't seem to be a unique variant or anything (especially since the cartoon didn't feature specific loadouts - hell, they didn't even differentiate between LRM's and lasers!).
A fistful of me.Because it was my first exposure to the Axeman.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe Steiner Axeman is a 2N with a unique paint job.
Speaking of which, I do think the Axeman is one of the better designs. As far as Unseen go, the Warhammer takes the cake.
Also, I got the Introductory Box Set a while ago. Played it with some friends tonight...sort of. Was slow going getting used to the full tabletop version, and I ended up losing anyways.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelHooray for reviving dead topics!
But more seriously, I'm the sort of guy who finds tabletop rules occasionally dizzying. Is there any simple way I could learn BT's ruleset?
Locking you up on radar since '09Question
Is it possible to make a valid and useful army list made of nothing but Elementals and Kirghiz-Cs? I figure you drop the Elementals right on top of the heavies and then pick off the lights with massed air power.
Liiiiiiiive!
I'm not sure if people would be able to help me out, but here goes nothing!
I'm trying to make a fluff friendly, flexible, and small combined arms force for a roleplay I'm involved inFull disclosure . The force in question is a 3062 Word of Blake unit. Basically...
1) What 3062note era Wobbie unit would be best for such shenanigans? You can either speak generally or specifically a unit that would have been in or near the Capellan Confederation during that timeframe. If there's no such unit, can you give advice for creating a fluff friendly Level II?
2) What mechs and other equipment would it have? Assume a Level II sized unit. I'm assuming it'd predominantly be FWL stuff, but every little helps.
3) How can I ensure that they're behaving according to canon? As I said, I'm trying to keep things in line with fluff.
Thanks in advance!

Locking you up on radar since '09^^That could be valid for at least a Mega Mek game, but I don't think you're going to make many friends in the process.
^Not sure, but if it's near the CC, they'd probably also have some Capellan stuff, though it might be predominantly WOB and FWL equipment. Some stuff with Stealth Armor might help.
As for canon behavior, your best bet might be to try looking for some Jihad or Civil War-era novels.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelHarmony Gold Is At It Again…
Yup. You read that right. Harmony Gold is at it again with another round of lawsuits aimed at Battle Tech IP.
The story broke a few days ago (thanks to user Clanfighter for the comment tip!), and the Harebrained Schemes (HBS) and Mech Warrior Online forums are ablaze. There’s a lot of vitriol being spewed (rightly) against Harmony Gold for being litigious parasites and trying to cash in on Battle Tech‘s and Mech Warrior Online’s success, and while that’s certainly true, there’s a little more to it than that.
...
Harmony Gold could also be using this case as a means of testing the legal waters for a future lawsuit against Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries. We know that PGI’s upcoming single-player game will feature some of the Unseen designs, and if it’s as financially successful as it’s expected to be (and if the Robotech movie doesn’t crash and burn like every other live-action anime movie) then Harmony Gold could stand to make a bundle.
One thing for certain is that neither PGI nor HBS is likely to comment on the case anytime soon as the trial is set for September of 2018. Here’s hoping they lose, and badly.
Barring an odd curveball like Judge Zilly not signing it...
Saw ads for Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries on platforms other than Epic Games come out today. How does that game stack up?
Aren't Elementals generally in Battle Armour, though? They're more "RIP 'N' TEAR!" than "I will now slice the back of its neck with my sword".
Also, though I have never played a game of BattleTech in my life () I really enjoy the mech designs. They've got a weight and realismnote to them that a lot of other settings lack.
