As a reminder, in June of 2014 Sports Illustrated published this◊.
Also of note: this will be only the 6th World Series in MLB history between two 100+ win teams. The last such World Series was in 1970.
Also also of note: the real story of this playoffs is that the Astros have had to face down the top three payrolls in the MLB, in order. Dodgers have the biggest payroll, Yankees second, Red Sox third. (The Astros rank 18th.)

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)And Dodgers take Game 1 on the back of Kershaw pitching a gem, final score of 3-1.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)And going into the 8th it looked like the exact same score and outcome for Game 2 - and then the Astros decided to throw out the script. End result was a wild extra innings slugfest that the Astros hung on to win in the 11th, final score of 7-6.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a series. note
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)That game was NUTS, and I couldn't be happier for it. I'm not really rooting for either team this WS, but I do like interesting games, and that was as interesting as they get.

Dodgers and Astros bullpens were taking turns seeing who could choke harder.
Glad to see that Houston is putting up a real fight. With 3 games at home they might have a real shot now.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Astros take Game 3 off an amazing bullpen performance by their 5th starter Brad Peacock, winning 5-3.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)The Astros closer Ken Giles imploded, and the Dodgers win it 6-2, tying the series yet again.
To be blunt, if they let Giles throw another pitch in this World Series, I'm gonna just say that Astros don't deserve the championship at that point. Guy's been very shaky at best, and very shaky is not something they can afford, let alone his worst.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)There. are. no. words.
Astros win the fifth game 13-12 in ten innings.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Y'know, I was wondering why I hadn't heard who won yet. I didn't realize the game was still going.
Oh my goodness. This was one of the most intense games I've ever seen.
Multiple home runs, several comebacks, and at the end of it, the Dodgers' pitcher in the 10th looked like he was going to drop onto the mound and lose consciousness. He looked tired.
Arggh. Really insane. But congrats to Hou.

General Public: Game 2 was sooo crazy, I doubt they could top that.
Dodgers and Astros (in unison): HOLD OUR BEERS.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Game 2: That was crazy.
Later: Turns out we haven't seen anything yet.
They will need the day off.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH YES! MORE CHAOS!
Ahem... That game was amazing. I literally posted earlier in this thread that they don't get more exciting than game 2, and I was completely wrong. That was the nuttiest, game ever, with a crazy amount of runs (the second most in a WS game ever), umpire goofs, crazy back-and forth comebacks, two destroyed bullpens, and extra innings. That game might go down in history.
That game was madness. I went to bed when it went into extra innings because it was already past 1:00 AM and I have to get up at 6:00 AM to get ready for work. This entire series has had so many home runs.
At this rate, I'm expecting the series to end in the 15th inning of game seven, with a final score of 23-22.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Verlander is not quite good enough, and once again, Dodgers enter the late innings leading 3-1...and the Astros can't do a thing about it this time.
On to Game 7!
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Because this series needed a Game 7.
Man, my work schedule was all messed up yesterday, so I ended up falling asleep and missing the game. I'm glad it's going to game seven — I would have been really annoyed if I missed the final game. :p
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The Astros are not wasting any time. The score is 2-0 going into the bottom of the 1st.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)5-0 Astros going into the 6th.
And we're going to the 9th! Astros lead 5-1.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)And it's over! For the first time in 56 years of existence, the Houston Astros are the champions!
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)As a fan of an NL Central team, I remember when Charlie Morton looked like his peak was going to be "ok groundballer" back when he was with the Pirates. It's absolutely amazing to see what he's become with Houston.
World Whosball Champion 1945-1991And to cap off the awesome, Astros shortstop Carlos Correa popped the question to his girlfriend following the game.
Got to wish them the best.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)
And the Astros seal the deal in Game 7 to take the ALCS.
(Not gonna lie, if the Dodgers and Yankees have been the Always Someone Better to every team I root for at some point or another, so I'm glad the WS isn't down to those two.)
