Isn't Katia blind during the whole exchange? How can she read what Sigrid writes?

What the hell does Katia do at the end? It looks like she's sending a tendril of magic to pull at several of Sigrid's traits (I don't know what all the symbols mean)... but it results in some sort of explosion?

Given Katia's description of the imp gall's effect on her own psyche, and Sigrid's remark at the end, it seems her enormous narcissism was actually caused by the bug musk. Basically it had the same effect on her as on everyone else.

I think skeleton sees for her

Semi-unrelated, our page on Prequel hasn't been properly updated in ages. It wasn't even listed on the Elder Scrolls fanworks page! Went ahead and rectified both of those issues, to an extent.

She is blind, but only technically. The purple tint is because she's seeing through her psychic link to skeleboi, before she summoned him all she could "see" (and thus all we could see) were her mental visualizations of magicka. Speaking of:

The thing at the end is her using her surprisingly good grasp of mysticism ("magic that manipulates magic") to manually dispel Sigrid's remaining charm enchantments. The symbols are how she visually interprets any magicka she detects — sort of a sixth sense she's been developing after getting schooled by Aggy.

I'm guessing the explosion is because she was doing this in a really amateurish, outside-the-box manner, and she wound up casting dispel on the entire room, explaining skeleboi and spiderboi's absence after she regains her vision.

Update! Katia finally seems to be catching a break. Things can only get worse from here.

EDIT: Also, brought this up on the Webcomic.Prequel discussion page, but I feel like it might be a good idea to migrate it to "Prequel Adventure" or "Prequel (Webcomic)" so that it doesn't share a namespace with one of the most common tropes in existence. Thoughts?

It's not a meme, it's an established precedent.

I mean, but things haven't gotten significantly worse since Katie's stuff got stolen and before that worst thing that happened to her was that she got her stuff stolen <_< Like it making precedence out of one time things got better for her and then worse as if that happened constantly

Somebody in the comments noticed that the website's title (the part that shows on the tab in your browser) has changed from "PREQUEL - Making a Cat Cry: An Adventure" to "PREQUEL - The Adventures of Katia Managan." Could this legitimately be the turning point for our precious sadcat?

Nah. This has got to be an elaborate deception.

Uh, probably? It's been a while and I don't remember if there was any onscreen, but I do recall some despair-drunk blackout and crying during those is pretty much guaranteed.

Maybe author realized that readers had been flanderizing story so much that they should change the name?

I mean, seriously, there is one "Darkest moment" moment in the story, otherwise its not like only bad things happen to main character :P

No, it was definitely accurate. It wasn't just one darkest moment, there were several "she fucked up and lost everything".

Update took signifantly longer than expected because all of Kazerad’s collaborators wound up in the hospital at the same time, because this comic is apparently cursed. To combat future delays, he has created the Hatmster.
