Now anyone wanna help me clean up the billion incoming links?!
I dunno what's happening with Baby Got Back and Token Loli. Last night I spent an hour or so removing listed wicks to the latter, and now a fresh batch is up.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! That's because of a glitch in the redirect counter. If a page is cut, wicks don't show up on the related to page until the page with the wick is edited.
And you should hold off on cutting them. It's going to get a new name soon, so we'll be able to change those links to the new one.
Crap, that means I was destroying legitimate examples. Putting the links back will be tough…
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! Here's your recent edits, if that helps.
Once Token Loli is back with a new name I'll see to those. There's little use putting back red links at this moment, but I'll eventually get to potholing the new name in.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Why isn't Baby got Back a trope?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelBecause large butts are not a trope exactly in the same way that large breasts are not a trope. The article read more like a Fetish Fuel entry.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Would there be opposition to anyone eventually making (a) new YKTTW(s) to hammer out a "large butts/breasts as fanservice" trope, or alternatively find something tropable in that?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.@Marq FJA: I think that was discussed but rejected on the grounds that it would require being able to identify what was intended as fanservice and what wasn't, which can be difficult. There was support for making a trope for characters who like [insert feature here], but so far no-one has stepped up to do the work.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.I suppose Shes Got Legs and Sexy Back will be going next, right? I mean, if breasts aren't a trope and butts aren't a trope, I guess legs and bare backs aren't either. Me, I would just fix the trope to specifically refer to characters reknown for their butts, or appear in works that emphasize their butts. But that's just me, I'm silly.

Apparently, the effort to define what exactly constituted "big butt as trope" failed. I wasn't a part of it, so I am at least partially speculating. Similarly, I would agree that "bare legs" and "bare backs" are also not tropes, in and of themselves.
We did establish that they are basically means of playing to audience fetishes, which makes them Fetish Fuel and therefore not anything we're interested in discussing on TV Tropes.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't understand why we don't just limit things to in-universe examples.
Baby got Back is definitely a trope. Did you bother reading the description. It says " character having a big butt isn't an example of the trope." However, it does say " any mention of a the big butt, or if it is a plot point, gets a male gaze, or if the butt in question is gets attention from the writers, it counts as a trope." It also says, " DO NOT LIST ANYONE THAT YOU, OR OTHERS THINK HAS NICELY SHAPED BUTT" I bet that might be why they page was cut, too many invalid entries. Too many people listing women that they think have cute butts, although it was never focused on.
Pretty much this exactly. The page could not be kept sane.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"If you think so, you can head over to the Trope Repair Shop thread. They are discussing if it can be restored somehow.
EDIT: Ninja'd
I've provided the link. You can go over to TRS.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAnd the term TROPE is defined on the home page. Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations.
As per that, Baby got back is a trope, and they may be other so-called tropes that qualify to a lesser extent that BGB does. I could see if it was a "YMMV, don't you think she has a nice butt-trope?
What is your solution? to rename it ? to act like it never existed? To re-interpret the trope? I would be more than willing to lend a hand. How does some one become a moderator or admin or whatever its called.
What a shame, That is why I always read the trope page and guidelines before adding a trope to a page to see if it counts. I was surprised to see that sometimes, after reading fully a trope's page, what I planned on listing either doesn't a trope, or is a different trope. I'm sure I'm not the only one that does this when editing a page, however, all it takes is few bad apples that misinterpret tropes before a page gets ruined. Thanks for the feedback.
We have a TRS thread about it. I'm locking this topic as redundant.

I can't find a thread on Baby Got Back. Why was it cut?
