The interdimensional door of the Resort creaked open slowly, as an elderly figure walking with a cane edged his way inward.
Miki (the maid) began introducing the Resort, before he shushed her, and said, "I know darn well where I am. Now where's Kevin? I thought he said he was going to meet me here."
Kevin walked out of an invisible door in the wall and said, "Hey grandpa. Decided to come over and visit?"
"What do you think? Of course!" the elderly man, Theodore, said, looking around, "Well, at least it's a little less of a dump than I was expecting."
"Yeah. Thanks." Kevin said, "Just ... try not to embarrass me or chase away the customers, OK?"
"Bah, it's not my problem if they can't handle my wit." Theodore said.
Kevin shook his head, and headed away, back through the invisible wall door.

Xavier sighed and sat back in his chair. Let them debate whatever with telepathy. He'd just wait. It probably wasn't any of his business anyway.

"Fine... mostly," said Vincent. He glanced over to Kali and whispered, "But that girl over there? Crazy. She's so... self-centered. Feels like everything's relative to her, no thought for what could happen to someone else. She- she literally stuff down my throat. It was practically assault, and she's all like-" Vincent put on a mocking falsetto. "-'oh, what's the matter, can't a girl have a little fuuuuuun? You so need to get laid.' Gaaah!"
He leaned on the counter and took a few deep breaths to calm down. "I won't go on, I shouldn't bother you with my... problems with the opposite sex. You've already had enough of those for your stay."

"Problems with both sexes, really," Qrlil said. And I doubt they are over yet. "Though nothing like that. I am sorry to hear of it."
She ate a bit more fruit. "Out of curiosity, where is your associate? Er... Kat, I believe. I have not seen him down here."

Saliha, having woken from her pleasant sleep, bounded up the hall and into the bar, practically skipping as best as her digitigrade legs could manage up to Xavier. Putting her arms around his neck, she surprised him with a word into his ear. "Hey."

"He left early this morning," said Vincent. "Left me a note saying he was getting bored staying here and he left to begin analyzing the data we got." He shrugged. "Kat never was one to stay in one spot for some time unless he was doing something he felt was useful. Like science. Can't exactly say I blame him, although I'm not that bored yet. I'll probably stay for a little while longer."

"Hey," Xavier said to Saliha. "Sleep well? You seemed tired last night. Or maybe that's just me."

"Oh yeah, I was really out of it last night." Saliha looked past him through the windows, out into the fine day. The beach would be idea. "Say, didn't you promise me that we'd go swimming in the ocean today?"

"Oh, and Xavier's over there," he said, pointing a finger over his shoulder at Xavier. "Near... that woman. I don't think I want to set foot near her again." He ground his teeth at the thought. "But as long as I'm here, I'll just have to avoid her."

"I don't know either of those," said Xavier. "Which is part of what worries me. It feels almost... stalker-ish. I'm probably misrepresenting the situation, but..." He shrugged. "I don't want to not be here when I could have. Better to err on the side of caution."

Qrlil shook her head in a human negatory gesture. "I do not think I even want to know."
She took a sip. "But don't worry too much about not making sense. It happens to all of us from time to time. You are probably a better speaker then I am - I seem to always say the wrong thing to people."

"Alright, hit me with some baroque, then. You know, something dramatic." Theodore said to Wilhelm, motioning with his arms.

Well, he thought, frowning. I don't know about you, but...I can't turn this off, or control it. Ever. All these people's words and thoughts are just...buzzing around my head all the time. He paused, listened to a few and frowned some more. It's like some sort of super hearing, but worse. (That he winced at.)
The problem is it keeps me up at night. Dozens of people's messed up dreams and subconscious minds all at the same time...I'm so sleep deprived you know, the passing out is normal for me. Last night was the most peaceful night I've had since I got this thing; unless you're projecting them, I can't hear your thoughts at all.
He buried his head in his arms. So I was just wondering if you could help with that.

Sorry. I didn't know. Mine's selective, so I suppose I can't really relate. But for what it's worth Luke, I'm sorry you've had to go through that. Must be tough.
She sighed, still running a hand through his hair. I can't offer you anything permanent, but I think I might have a bit of a fix. No guarantees, but if it works, you won't have to hear anything anymore. But I'm not sure you're gonna be that crazy about it.
