Full Moon Silhouette and Weird Moon have the same page image from ET.

Motion to pull

Better suited to Full Moon Silhouette. Also used on ET article.

We don't seem to have a "the moon is made of cheese" trope, isn't it? We could go with such an image for a replacement. Also, yeah, supporting the pull.

The moon from that Zelda game (Ocarina?) would be good for Weird Moon. The pic in question is perfect for Full Moon Silhouette. Working on a suggestion for the E.T. page...be there in a sec.

EDIT: Here we go.

^ Majoras Mask. Which is already used for Bad Moon Rising. Weird Moon is, at least partially, "Did Not Do The Research about the Moon".

Here's one from Okami. It's both too large and the shape is strange.

[up][up] I'd be fine with that.

It'd be nice if we could get another version of the Majoras Mask moon on Bad Moon Rising, since that one looks kind of bad with the all-black background.

[up] Make a different thread for it then. This one is about Weird Moon.

Any objections to the Okami pic?

[up][up]I don't get it... What's "weird" about it? That's more stylized than anything.

[up] Read the trope. It's the moon being stylized in ways that aren't consistent with real life.

[up][up] That doesn't look like a moon. It looks like a floating magical symbol.

[up][up][up] Pretty, but it's a little too fancy...good for Image Links, though.

Laconic goes: "That moon isn't behaving like a moon should". It does cover stylized moons, for what I can read, it's just seems like it's not its main thing. We might want to go for something that is definitely odd though, like having a star within the crescent moon's horns, as described on the page itself.

Other things described on the page are the moon being too large, and the crescent shape being wrong. There's a long list of suggestions. People in general seem more able to identify exaggerations without an image, but not the more subtle variations. It's harder to get examples of those even when they're more common.

[up]The image should have something that most people would recognize as wrong in some way. The E.T. one was good because at first glance it was "just a moon", moments after one realizes that moon was effin' huge, ence the trope. The Okami one Is not being as obviuos I think. I look at it and I think "yep, that's a moon. Nothig suspicious here".

At any rate, when I thought of an image for the topic I had something more extreme in mind, this. Would that work?

[up] That pic (or a very similar version) is in use on A Trip To The Moon, but since works and tropes can share a pic, it wouldn't hurt. That being said, I kinda like the Okami pic a bit better.

It's not really the moon that looks weird in that image, Raso.

I'd suggest a pic of the moon from Soul Eater. As the first example on the page points out, it's huge, yellow, perpetually a crescent, and has a face with a Slasher Smile.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
