It's hardly anything new, to say the least.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I have it labeled alternative. It encompasses all those genres you mentioned, and the song itself sort of encapsulates all the things about modern alternative rock that make it an alternative to nothing.
So it's butt post emogrunge?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.21st Century Breakdown is growing on me. I didn't care for it that much at first, but after listening to the album a little more, I'm starting to really like it.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. You know, I'm getting a feeling that Green Day might have an album in the works for next year.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!I sure hope so. Uno, Dos, Tre was kinda dull, but I haven't lost interest in them.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Butt-rock's not actually a genre, so... Well, there is that. Sorta like "mallcore" in that regard. It's just a catchall term that kinda describes stuff people don't like.
I'd say it's just an Alternative Rock ballad thing (albeit a pretty decent one, IMO). But Odd1 has a point- getting caught up in genres isn't something I'm too keen on myself. Also, Alucard's got a point about modern Alternative Rock (including Indie Rock, cause it's part of that general group no matter what people say) not being very... Well, "alternative", I guess...

Green Day is being inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame on their first year of eligibility.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! The rage and tears of punk elitists everywhere is delicious...
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. This has become my new favorite forum weapon:
I probably should shorten it so that it's a proper forum weapon somehow.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Green Day, huh? I like them a lot, mostly because of having grown up listening to them. They're nothing revolutionary or challenging, but they're fun and catchy. I like Nimrod and Warning the best.
I dunno. I feel like American Idiot is worthy of being called a classic, one of the best albums they've done. Same goes for Nimrod.

Green Day has never been skate, just ordinary pop punk.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Really, they were kinda more in the vein of a late '80s/'90s Ramones when they first started.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I guess this could be considered a skate song from GD:
One of my friends and coworkers, that's the only Green Day song she really likes anymore she says.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Somehow, Green Day, despite not being a country-punk band (a genre which exists), translates very well to country. [1], [2], [3].
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I just of something: Is "Let Yourself Go" (my current favorite song by them) a criticism against everyone who says they're "not punk enough"? Because it really seems like it.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I haven't listened to much of the Post-American Idiot stuff, aside from some singles from 21st Century Breakdown everybody's heard of. Is anybody else the same? I just stick to Dookie and Insomniac with Nimrod thrown in most of the time.
A fan of anime, music, and movies.I have all the studio albums.
The Trilogy has some great stuff, but there's quite a bit of filler there too. It's experimental in places, too.
Hmm... I might check it out, then.
A fan of anime, music, and movies.Do. You're not losing anything.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!
I just want to make sure that it's not something that's Genre-Busting.
Because if it isn't Genre-Busting, I'd like to see more songs like it.
