Yeah. Zombies suck.

That perception has been around way before Modern Warfare, going as far back as Doom I'd guess.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!It popularized the idea.
No it didn't, that opinion was everywhere back when Halo was king and probably before. I know this from experience.

Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!I'd just like to say, despite what the series has become, Call of Duty: United Offensive is still my favourite game of all time.
Oh, now I remember my other point: Because they removed kicking and banning, hacking has become easier. all the top leaders on the leader board literally have kill counts which are utterly impossible, in the trillions.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryTrue. On Modern Warfare, MW2, and Black Ops hacks are rampant. I've seen them in almost every game that I've played, and the ones I've seen are invincibility, never having to reload, disappearing and reappearing behind you, instant-kill, etc. That really kills the game, if nothing else already has.
There's not a ton of games on the 360 and PS 3 without guns that are very popular.

Feel free to vandalize me.But not nearly as much.
Don't forget the Activision factor: Co D is published by the current Evil Empire of video games.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comAnd now I saw Calld of Duty 4 on Steam, Seriously?
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Call of Duty has been on Steam for a long time dude.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Yeah, I snagged the Warchest when it was on sale a few weeks ago. I thought I still had the disks, but I must've lost them when I moved.
My personal thoughts on Call of Duty is that it's a fairly decent series, certainly far from the worst, but Modern Warfare 2 is one of those games that I have ever legitimately hated. I'm not talking disappointed, I'm talking legitimate hatred.
See, I loved Modern Warfare 1. It was a great game. Multiplayer was fairly balanced (though you couldn't hit the chopper for shit with the RPG, which is what it was designed for), the story, while a bit out there, still seemed like it could actually happen, and overall, I felt that if they just added in lock-on rocket launchers, the game would be golden.
Suddenly, Modern Warfare 2! Boasting a plot that makes no sense whatsoever to anybody with any knowledge in military or politics, a ludicrously unbalanced multiplayer, a shitty PC port (whoever had the idea to remove dedicated server support should be shot for incompetence), and an experience that just felt like I was being used.
Add that to the overabundance of urban warfare games these days, and it quickly leaves a bad taste in your mouth after a while. The community only adds fuel to the fire, so to speak. I think that's why most people hate the Call of Duty series now: It used to be awesome, and now it's...bad.
Still need More Dakka, and it's about time to start a real WAAAAAGH.As a whole, I think it was MW 2 that ruined Co D's reputation. I too remember when it was an amazing game and a breath of fresh air in the Medal Of Honor days.
And the first game's Stalingrad was amazing. Absolutely, fucking amazing.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Also, regarding that multiplayer infestation thing: When Team Fortress 2 went Free-To-Play, you would see newbies trying to use ironsights in a game that had none.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelAnd so they resorted to using the class that most resembled their precious Cawwa Dooty: The Sniper. Suddenly, you had teams with seven or eight snipers with the rest probably being spies.
AND IT WASN'T VERY FUN, LET ME TELL YOU.
Also, on the very same phenomenon, it happened with the Resistance 3 beta. I don't know if it changed for the final build, but the beta had no auto-aim. So you had all these guys trying to shoot you by standing perfectly still and firing in a straight line. Cue me topping the scoreboard fifty times in a row and reaching level 30 in a day.

^Oh, and charging into battle with the SMG. How dumb.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI just think the games are boring. Too much ironsights, too much o hay look the statue of liberty is on fire, too much grit and dirt and shit.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I enjoyed Black Ops, but it's way overrated, basically every other shooter looks the same, and the fanbase is composed of prepubescent boys (or college aged manchild alpha dogs) who think they're cool because they're playing a game where YOU SHOOT PEOPLE!!!11 and will hate on anyone who doesn't share their fanatical love for their beloved best game ever and instead prefer other games that aren't shooters/Co D with stupid insults like 'fag' or 'you're not a true hardcore gamer'.
Oh and they're elistist and self-entitled.
But that's why we have Team Fortress 2:
Basically everything said so far sums up my feelings about the series quite well.
Call Of Duty's Hatedom isn't any more pronounced than any other popular game franchise, in my experience. I'm not happy with the effect its having on the industry of so many Snowclones and attempts to reconfigure every other type of game into an FPS with the misguided belief that it brings in more sales. But that's more of a problem with the industry growing increasingly more risk averse and trying to play "safe" by just copying something that works for a single series.
Personally, I find Battlefield's Fan Dumb and vocal hatred of COD more irritating than the stereotype of COD.
Counter Strike used to have the same stigma COD has now (angry, homophobic, rude 13-year-olds and shit gameplay).
The campaigns in Call of Duty are full of testosterone overload and cheap gameplay. The multiplayer, the way it's set up, rewards people that are doing well while giving nothing substantial, and it's completely unbalanced. For example, the kill-streak rewards are unbalancing and give the winning side even more advantage. The World at War multiplayer is okay, at least better than the rest of the series.
And yes, the game has a really bad fanbase, as shown in the mutliplayer and on forums where apparently you are a faggot if you play Zelda or anything without guns, because "I played Zelda for five minutes and it's gay." Modern Warfare started the whole fad of 'any game without guns sucks.' You can't hate a game for a fanbase, but it certainly contributes.
Nazi Zombies is pretty fun, and I think is the only redeeming game mode of the series, but only two of the games have that, and it's only fun if you spend money on the map packs. And are you really going to spend $50 + map packs for a single game mode?
Any thoughts on my opinion?
