I think Becky is kind of afraid to fall from grace for Joyce, so is being more tactful.
Becky's really quite insecure about this huh?
Yeah, please do milk the rivalry dialogue, Willis. I'm sure it's very fun and not at all boring.
Sigh... Anyway. I'm at least somewhat curious to see if this is Joyce doubling down like regular or if it's trauma from the last big changes in her life. Could still be either at this moment.
Yeah the change thing. Though my second thought was, how is she going to afford this? Hopefully she is still covered under her parent's insurance, that doesn't cover the cost of the glasses themselves if her prescription is extensive though.
Maybe when that question comes up we'll finally get to know what's happening between her parents.
I don't know about American colleges specifically, but college health plans are a thing.
Not Three Laws compliant.I've dealt with/seen college paid health plans in the US due to my work (data entry for health insurance).

I don't think it's the boxers Lucy's interested in right now Walky.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. If anything they're an obstacle.
Okay kids, both your hair looks great
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. After reading yesterdays strip I need someone to remind me why Danny gets so much more shit from commenters than Walky. Because Walky seems so much worse.
At least Walky is endearing? Walky has a sort of charisma that Danny definatly does not.
Walky also never rolled a nat 1 so badly that he said maybe it's best that someone in a coma didn't wake up in front of their friend (Even if said person was a massive jerk), and proceed to double down when called out on it.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Arguably Walky is indeed worse than Danny, but the issue with Danny is he continually fucks up some of the simplest and best things that happen to him. Walky, for all his... self, doesn't fuck things up as much.
Granted I personally hate them both in equal amounts right now, but that's a me issue.
The difference, for me at least, is that Walky is always annoying in little ways, while Danny seems to specifically choose the worst thing to do or say at the precise moments that will make him come across as an absolute piece of shit.
Walky is a never ending buzz, while Danny is a loud shotgun blast that you never know when it’s gonna go off.
I'm with Becky in the last panel here.
And I absolutely regard Walky as worse than Danny, but that's a me problem brought on in part by the fact I can sort of identify with Danny's approach of "Pick the absolute worst possible time and way to stand up for yourself, such that you come off like an asshole even if your arguments are correct." I'm not saying I'm proud of that by any means, but I see the approach if not the specific situation (I've never told a friend that "Hey your other friend in a coma like ten feet away from us is a massive jerk who hates me") and go "Yep, been there, done that." Whereas Walky's whole...this...is something almost foreign to me.
Walky is at least self aware? I feel like a lot of Walky humour comes from trying to apologise for his mediocrity? He makes himself a joke so he dosn't deserve serious consideration.
Danny meanwhile just seems stumped by his mediocrity, which means it's utterly unmanaged and can go utterly critical because of it.
Though I applaud Danny for trying to figure out when to stand up for himself, he might become a better person some day because of it. Where as Walky refuses to to ever feel any pride in himself and its gonna take an outside force for him to improve.

I feel like there is a certain arrogance around Danny that doesn't exist around Walky, at least not as palpably, not when it rears itself.
I guess Walky bothers me more because he's obviously far more aware of his flaws and doesn't care about most of them. Whilst Danny is a lot more clueless.
Guys, guys, guys
We can hate both of them equally
For different reasons
So it sounds like it might come down to, "Do you think Walky's self-awareness makes his flaws worst or better than Danny's?"
I mean God Damn It Danny has been a saying for what, almost 2 decades now, i think his entirely character is being The Fuckup
I'll just point out the the comic is called "Dumbing of Age", not "Surprisingly Mature College Students Who Fully Understand Themselves and Are Role Models to Aspire to", for reasons not involving the length and awkwardness of the latter title.
Title doesn't mean that we have to actually dislike the characters though. They have to be dumb, not actually grating.

I could see it either way, but it feels like Becky is giving more pressure to Joyce getting an eye test while making it seem like she's supporting her.
