She's just going to have a serious talk about suicidal tendencies, but I want to believe she's planning on leaving with a femur or two if she can.
Fresh-eyed movie blogRuth did get there after the "end....it....." line, so yeah.
Plus Ruth would probably like to save someone today, considering earlier events.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Weirdest. Kindred spirit. Ever.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Takes one to know one.
That being said, they both need hugs.
Amber's next line: "Here's the deal. You keep quiet about my secret, I beat your grandpa's ass."
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Oh my god shut up Amber you edgelord.
What exactly are you objecting to here?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Her line in the first panel. "No therapist is equipped to handle me."
It's stupid.
Rough translation: "I'm too far gone, I can't be helped."
If you've never been in that headspace, it's hard to explain.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117I have been and it's still a stupid and insufferable piece of dialogue. If that's what was meant to be conveyed then the writer should have done a better job at doing so instead of Amber smugly posturing.
Also I've been sick of Amber for a long time now so that doesn't help.

....if you truly saw that line as "smug posturing", the problem here isn't the writing.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Well if we're stooping to the level of "no u" then I think we've both said all that's needed.
That's not smug posturing, that's teen angst and self-centeredness about problems combining with a shitload of genuine trauma. Jesus wept...
It's a depression thing, it's not like Batman saying "I'm what the darkness is afraid of". You get into patterns of thought that tell you that there's no way out.
Fresh-eyed movie blogYou'll have to forgive me for not being sympathetic to a person whose many crimes include abusing their partner, stalking their victim, and going around beating the shit out of people whenever she feels like it and constantly getting excused by the people around her now actively resisting the idea of going to therapy because ???
Or don't. Whatever.

Amber's not a person with a healthy mind, and she's never been portrayed as one. Not since Shortpacked, anyway.
Never read Shortpacked (or any other of the writer's works except for Do A) but were Amber's massive character flaws and criminal actions excused as funny quirks in those too?
They're not excused as funny quirks. If you haven't noticed, her RA is in the middle of giving her a serious talk.
Im brimming happily, she seems so into it. Also its a bit silly.
Shortpacked was a hell damn lot more wacky crazy antics comic. It is a completely different foundation, and even the characters are really only similar but not entirely same between it and DOA.
In Shortpacked, everyone was cartoonishly quirky because that was the tone of the strip. Dumbing of Age is much more grounded, and uses the characters' quirks for drama as much as for laughs.
Mike did not make the transition well.
