Watching the trailer again, I noticed that the Chinese Jaeger, Crimson Typhoon, appears to be mirrored compare to the blueprint we have seen. In the blueprint, it has two left arms and a right armcannon(?). But in the trailer at around 1:16, we can clearly see it's the opposite.

And also in that shot, with the Russian Cherno Alpha at the front center, to the left side of the screen, way back in the distance, it's a third Jaeger that I missed in the first time viewing the trailer. And I'm pretty sure that it's the Australian Striker Eureka, based on the shapes of the shoulder and head.

That's make the Japanese Coyote Tango the only known Jaeger not to appeared in the trailer. Maybe it's the legendary but obsolete Jaeger mentioned in the summary and only get redeployed when the US Gypsy danger lost an arm?

[up] That brings up something else. The Jaegers appear to be Motion-Capture Mecha. How exactly do the Chinese control their Jaegers, then?

A fistful of me.

Considering there's three pilots, could be that one controls the main body, one the two arms, and the third aims the plasma cannon. Also can't help but notice the 28-GO there as well, Tetsujin-28 reference?.

[up][up]In the blueprint, Crimson Typhoon have 3 pilots instead of 2, so maybe that's how.

Those crazy Chinese, grafting on extraneous arms on their robots. Typical.

Given that Guillermo intentionally cast G La DOS in his movie, I don't see why the Portal references are getting so much hate in this thread. sad

Provided that all the other mechas have their pilots in the robots head, that means that the Russian doesn't have a giant head, it has a giant hump.

The Russian Jaeger is a hunchback.

You know, this trailer leaves me with a question I often find myself asking. Namely, why is it that otherwise kinda shallow movies are far better at the rousing speech than any other kind of movie?

(Don't get me wrong, I am going to love this movie to death when it comes out. Unless they have completely bunged up from the trailer, it's probably going into a place of honor right next to Dredd.)

Cherno Alpha has a nuclear cooling tower as a top hat. Beat that.

Every other comment is Evangelion

Dude, chill. Sometimes people compare it to Evangelion out of love. The fact that from what we know now the Japanese rookie is this close to being a blatant love letter to the female EVA pilots? That's awesome. I'm glad.

Oh, and a cane it can smack monsters around with?

Yeah, leave the cane and monocle to the British Jaeger. The Russian Jaeger has to be big, manly, and badass.

I can see it now - Cherno Alpha is gonna be the film's Memetic Badass

So perhaps instead of a top hat, Cherno Alpha's 'head'/'hump' should be a Cossack hat instead of a top hat. Oh, and someone should give it a massive beard and mustache while we're at it.

Why doesn't the Russian Jaeger have hair on its chest?

Because its the other way around; Russian Jaeger has chest on its hair.

I don't care if that doesn't make sense.

Okay, I'm really confused.

Why are people angry that this resembles Evangelion? Do they not know that Evangelion was an homage/deconstruction to other shows? Do they honestly think that Evangelion was the first show to have giant robots punching giant monsters?

[up]I bet the Russian Jaegar in the trailer was just a prototype; the real version will have a new chest plate designed to show off its massive abs. Above that will be a Carpet of Virility, made from the hair of a thousand beautiful Russian maidens. It is a great sacrifice, but Russians know that when you make a weapon, it damn well needs to be able to survive a winter in Russia.

[up][up]People are angry that this is being compared to Eva at all, apparently. Also angry that people are mentioning Gla DOS, despite the fact that she (or rather, her voice actress) was cast because of who she was.

Fan Dumb, indeed.
