-if you turn the game off for too long Lisa gets you-
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I mean, it'd be a very Kojima thing to do. MGS 3 had several events based on how long the player had between saving and playing again.
Actually, Kojima has almost literally done that. If you save and quit during The End, when you start up again, he'll get you. (Unless its been over two weeks)

yeah or he literally dies of old age
or you can kill him early on so you skip his boss battle
New theme music also a boxA rather unusual piece of new merchandise, featuring James as a traditional action hero battling the monster to save the fair maiden, and also everyone was chibis.
Sorry if you're disappointed thinking this bump was major news or something, but this was just so hilariously incongruous with the game I couldn't resist sharing it!
Oof yeah. That merch is so different from the actual game that it's probably a deliberate joke.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAlso, that rat's not even from the game! There aren't really "normal" animals in Silent Hill. Maybe he's one of the Omnipotent Shobe's friends?
What about the dog? Okay, it's not exactly a "normal" animal, but still.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThat's the aforesaid Omnipotent Shobe.
But the dog’s name is Mira, not Shobe.
Disgusted, but not surprisedOh, sorry, Shobe is "funny internet doggo lingo" for a Shiba, the type of dog Mira is.
"Red Pyramid Thing"
I... genuinely don't know what to make of this...
"Red Pyramid Thing" is the name used consistently in official materials since the original Silent Hill 2; "Pyramid Head" is a nickname Masahiro Ito came up with during development but didn't use in the actual game.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableA premiere trailer for Silent Hill Ascension was uploaded a couple days ago. The interactive series will premiere tomorrow at around 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT.
So the premier came and it's, uh, certainly horrifying. Just not in the way intended. Literally every aspect of the app, show, and "game" aspects seem like they were cooked up in a boardroom full of coked up Wall Street suits who haven't played a videogame since 1987, whose understanding of the horror genre is entirely theoretical, and who think Choose Your Own Adventure is both the pinnacle of interactive entertainment and the future of all media.
A screenshot, for those morbidly curious. I've also heard rumors that NFTs are involved, or were but got shitcanned when that bubble finally burst.

Ugh, Night Trap looks more fun than this.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAscension looks like it could very well be somewhere on So Bad, It's Horrible unless some miracle brings it out of the heap.

Via Kotaku: "Silent Hill Game Disables Chat After Too Many Posts About Cum"
...
"We’re still a very young company," Navok said. "We're still learning. Most of the people who worked on this project were only doing DLC projects before [...]. We don't have deep experience in monetization, we are not great at it yet, we admit this."
"But [...] the idea that we're here to scam or be scummy is just absurd," he continued. The more difficult problem to address is that many of Ascension's detractors don't only think that the series is a scam, but also that it shouldn't exist.
Yeah this is going just great for Konami, huh
They've also nuked the reviews for the companion app on various storefronts, and the head of the studio behind it is going the ol' EA route of directly engaging in sparring matches with the "haters" on social media. A direct quote:
- "There are criticisms that are valid and are being addressed (past puzzles, more free IPnote ). There are criticisms that are invalid (story, narrative design)."

Makes one almost appreciate Downpour.
Disgusted, but not surprisedDownpour was at least a solid if mid experience. Both as a game and as a SH product.
This just hurts.
#IceBearForPresidentReally hoping the rest of the upcoming Silent Hill slate don't end up sucking. If Townfall, f, and SH2's remake all end up being hot garbage, I think the series will be officially six feet under with no hope of ever rising from the grave again.
I think the best case scenario in that event would be that they finally sell off the IP to someone competent but I don't know how likely that is.
I haven't really been paying attention to any of the developments since these were announced, though, so a lot depends on how much the executive office can keep their hands out of the kitchen. Silent Hill f is the game that promises to be Silent Hill by way of Higurashi, right? That's the one I'm most hoping will be successful.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI'm hedging my bets on f, because of the setting, the cool imagery in the trailer and the fact ryukishi of umineko and higurashi fame is writing it.
I have no expectations for any of the other games on the slate.
