Considering the heavily Buddhist themes of the show, there's really no other way it could go.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntI guess my biggest issue is that Donar didn't get to do anything. He pulled out an awesome laser cannon that made Mykage apologize for forgetting him, and then he pretty much just stood there for the rest of the series.
So, Uh- Zessikagura. Sure, why not, I guess. And I wonder how they got Mix back to normal, but it doesn't really bother me. And let's see, what else? Oh- I really do like the idea of Fudo as Apollonius. Adds a nice extra dimension to him.
Dimension of being a total asshat you mean.
Seriously all of that could've been avoided if he just made amends with Toma.
I'm still laughing at Donar's expression when Crea told him he might have to be the new Adam.
Also, when Soumi was totally OK with it.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThat was a great little moment.
Also: "No, that's no an Aquarion EVOL!" "AQUARION LOVE!"
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntKagura probably used his reversal power to fix Mix.
Zessikagura is a GREAT pairing.
Maybe.
Her breasts are actually smaller than they were originally were. I just hope it isn't:
LOVEの光を浴びてMIXが元に戻る明確にシーンが欲しかったが 岡田「ラストのMIXは女装で偽乳」 とか余計な事言わない様に口を封じておけよ、スタッフ I wanted a scene where MIX gets bathed in LOVE's light and turns back to a woman, but, staff, please gag Okada so that she doesn't say unneeded crap like: Okada: "Actually MIX is crossdressing as a woman in the epilogue".
These translated 2chan comments amuse me.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. That's amazing.
Eh.
This is the first time I've ever truly regretted watching a show. EVOL was just an awful, inconsistent, poorly written mess, even at the end. IMHO, the show really lost the thread when the writing team apparently decided that whatever original plot the series might have had was as good as worthless in comparison to tired, poorly-handled reincarnation/romance bullshit that they couldn't be assed to properly introduce in the original series (And I will maintain for as long as necessary that no, Apollo=Pollon was NOT suggested in even the remotest form by Genesis, no matter how liberally you interpret a few scenes).
Nice to see some of the secondary cast get happy endings, even if it's a cruel reminder that there where much more interesting characters in the show than the set the writers happened to focus on. Zessica/Kagura feels like the worst example of Pair the Spares in recent memory, and not just because they threw away a Sequel Hook to what had the potential to be a far more interesting show. Mikono is as worthless a heroine as ever, and Amata's interest in her comes off as more forced than the products of a 50,000 ton hydraulic forge. Almost every single plot thread not directly related to the central 'characters' got completely neglected, though that may be a blessing in disguise.
This is quite possibly the first time I would have rather spent my afternoons at the office than being 'entertained'.

Harsh much? I've seen worse anime than Aquarion EVOL. Most of which I won't mention cause I fear starting a flame war larger and more violent than the three thread ragefest that was the Xros Wars discussion after Young Hunters aired.
Harsh? Yeah.
Do I think it's justified, especially given the previous track record of the staff involved?
Hell yeah.
There's a difference between 'I think this was well done, I just didn't like it' and 'I wanted to like it, but it just wasn't very well done'. I find the later far more distasteful than the former.
The Pollon thing could have been handled better if they'd actually explained who he was, his relationship to Apollonius, and how he reacts to realizing that Apollonius trolled him into thinking he was himself Apollonius even though he'd abandoned his own people.
Amata: "I loved you Apollonius. I left Atlandia because I effing loved you! Did that sacrifice mean anything? Am I just a toy to you?"
Fudo: "Pollon never loved Celiane, he just had a crush, and wished they could meet again in another life. The love thing? That was all Apollo and Silvia. You're so-called love for Mikono is nothing more than simple infatuation due the Oedipus complex you developed as a result of your parents leaving you to die."
Amata: "That didn't answer my question... So not only is my shallow love for Mikono due to the fact that she looks like my mom, but I was fated to be with Mikono the whole time and my attempts to tell Kagura off are just cheap hypocrisy the writers were too stupid to realize? Screw Destiny! I'm going after Zessica."
Zessica: "Yay!"
Mikono and Kagura: (making out)

I loved this anime. So cheesy, so hilarious, and so fun all the way through, which is a surprise, considering this was written by Mari Okada (one of the worst melodrama writers I've seen in anime). Do I care about the plot? Not that much. Do I love the characters? Besides the main ones (who thankfully don't get much screen time or focus), yes. Do I love the sex jokes? Hell yes! Definitely one of my top 5 anime of 2012.
I'm also an anime blogger.Pretty much my thoughts. I never expected a good plot, it was Aquarion. I expected weird sexual metaphors, and got it.
Were there stuff I would have done different? Sure. But if I had my way a lot of stuff would have ended differently :p
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThank You!
Finally people with a positive view are in this thread. I agree with all of what the last two posters said.
I started Evol with the intention of watching entertaining mecha battles, and boy, did they deliver! The characters also moderately entertained me. Overall, I don't regret picking up this show. I'll probably never watch it the whole way through again, but it still has plenty of scenes I just never get tired of.
And now, I shall begin my impatient wait for this show to get included into a certain franchise (with any luck, in a certain series with said franchise).

I felt that Aquarion EVOL had a lot of concepts that looked great individually, but didn't quite gel together. The pacing was atrocious, the main pair wishy-washy, and many plot threads felt like they were either not foreshadowed well enough (seriously, who could predict the Pollon reveal?), and characterization inconsistent (like Kagura doing a last minute 180, ditto with Zessica).
Okay, Genesis wasn't exactly a gem of storytelling, but it had its earnest goofiness and, eventually, Apollo and Silvia's developing romance to make up for it. EVOL just felt it was trying to do too much, and just forgot what it wanted to do to begin with.
I didnt mind Evol overall. I just thought any scene that involved Amata or Mikono detracted from the show.
Same. Only replace Mikono with Zessica in my case.
Well, that was an utter trainwreck.
And yet I can't help but love it. Sure, Amata and Mikono are really boring, but dang it, this show is just too cheesy to not love. So while this is no way a great show, I can say that it was a hell of an enjoyable one.
Last minute couple Kagura x Zessica ftw. XD
You know whats sad.
Kagura and Zessica's one flirting moment was more believable than the entire amataxMikono romance arc.
Finally got around to listening to the full version of Kimi no Shinwa, Aquarion Dai-Ni-Shou. I can see why people were saying Paradoxical Zoo was the weakest of the opening themes.
A happy ending was most likely the only thing Mykage could get from this. If he was just defeated he'd probably screw the characters lives over and if he died his rage would empower him for the next twelve thousand years and it would start all over again.
Put it is kinda ironic that the dark half of Touma is the part that becomes one with Fudou while the Love half never does.
