The Official Mario Kart thread

So who's confirmed? I assume the eight are in by default, and we've also seen Rosalina, Lakitu, Metal Mario, Koopa Troopa, and Shy Guy.

Did I miss anyone?

Excluding Miis, I think that's everyone.

Boo to Miis. Can't we have a legitimate Mario (and assorted related franchises) character instead of our Author Avatars?

Calm down a bit, the complete list probably has all the Wii characters for MK and then some.

I'm pretty chill, actually, but I'd think that they should at least be saved for last, if at all.

Well I believe Mii's are actually relatively underused in terms of Nintendo stuff. (Seriously, they pretty much got the shaft shortly after the Wii was introduced) And besides, we found out about a new character the same time we found out about our author avatars.

@Moth: Daisy was shown in the TGS trailer and, since we're getting Waluigi Pinball as a track, we're most likely going to be seeing Waluigi as well.

Wonder how many characters in total we'll get? They better not waste too many slots on characters like Toadette or Baby Daisy again...

Eh, Toadette was something of an established character in the Mario verse.

Baby Daisy was a complete ass pull and a waste of a character. Seriously Nintendo, you're making WALUIGI look like a main character here.

Then again, it was to compliment Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, and Baby Peach (who originated in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time if I'm not mistaken). And if you're going to complain about that, then you better first give some flak in the direction of Yoshi's Island DS, seeing as that gave us Baby D.K. and Baby WARIO.

Waluigi has pretty much just become a Base Breaker rather than a Scrappy.

Methinks his hilarious lines and fantastic music & stages helped his case.

That and his Memetic Mutation factor in Brawl In The Family. Or the fact that he's one of the more useful Assist Trophies in Brawl. But yeah, he's still a major Base Breaker. Having yet to actually be in a real title outside of the sports series and being a somewhat unoriginal character (at least in concept) doesn't help his case.

Serious: I pretty much agree with you there, but you could say that Waluigi is either The Scrappy or an Ensemble Dark Horse depending on who you ask. And that is all I am going to say about that.

I may actually make Metal Mario into one of my secondary characters when I get Mario Kart 7. And try out Lakitu at least once.

Except the babies in that game served a purpose as abilities, plus that was a main game. Mario Kart is a fucking SPINOFF and Baby Daisy didn't really add that much in that game, which is you know, her debut?

I don't really care about Waluigi that much, but he's pretty much getting the shaft that's for sure.

I think you're taking this a bit too seriously, man. She's just a largely unimportant character introduced in a spinoff that has no bearing on the rest of the Mario universe. No bearing. Whatsoever. Would Dry Bowser be any worse if he made his debut in MK Wii instead of NSMB? How about Rosalina? Or even Funky Kong for that matter?

I didn't say the Mario spinoffs were crap. I said those babies contributed more than Baby Daisy did in her debut game.

Not really. It's not actually that big an issue for me. Though perhaps I should elaborate.

... You realize that they would've been seen as characters that came out of absolutely nowhere if that happened, right? (creative space fleas, but space fleas nonetheless) However, Baby Daisy feels like a very unoriginal character given that she's a baby version of an existing character, and it felt like Nintendo was digging around at the bottom of the barrel just to fill up that roster. That's my main problem with her, really. She comes off as a product of laziness.

If Funky Kong was randomly created for a spinoff racing game I'd wonder what the hell kinda drugs they were on.

AWESOME drugs, that's what.

Considering that their mascot is a fat Italian plumber who grows in size by eating magic mushrooms, I wouldn't be surprised. The entire series could be one big Mushroom Samba influenced by whatever the hell the higher ups in Nintendo are on.

I don't mind Baby Daisy at all (not that I've ever played as her). She's adorable and a very young version of one of my favorite characters. Even so, I doubt I'd ever pick her.

I don't mind her either, but I hardly ever play as the Baby versions of X character(s) anyway.
