Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

I feel like there's the possibility they might chicken out on the hypothetical design and give her armor covering instead of the naked silver skin look.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."well mystique got away with the naked look even though she wasn't even like that in the comics so they many not chicken out.
Sometimes they gave silver briefs to Norrin so he'd look less naked.
Forever liveblogging the Avengersthat just makes him look sillier, like how a parody of himself would look

It's like there is no way to give him a practical redesign or at least you shouldn't.
His whole thing is that he's this cosmic being beyond logic and physics.
If you are trying to make him realistic you are missing the point of the character. He's supposed to be weird.
It's like the Guardians, several of them had the more cosmic elements sanded off like Drax and Star-Lord to make them more grounded space travelers and aliens. You shouldn't do that with Surfer.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.", Neither of you are wrong. But there have been eras where Marvel was terrified people might think Norrin Radd was bare assing it through space. Despite his no toes.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpider-Man it. Assume the audience is already familiar with the Fantastic 4 and skip the origin story. Given the older cast and 60s aesthetic, that might be the route they're already going.
That is not a plot, that is character development. That is a thing that happens while the plot is already happening. You don't have to sacrifice the story to do this.
How much screen time did Gozer the Gozerian have? Like, four minutes? Are you going to tell me that the ending of Ghostbusters isn't memorable as fuck? Adding more time to something does not automatically make it better. In fact, too much time can actually reduce mystique. You really only need good setup and like one or two really strong bits to have a great villain.
Hang on a second, itsn't this film set in an alternative universe? And if Galactus is the villain. Oh dear. I predict that he will succeeded, destroy the FF's Earth, and they are forced to travel to the main Earth (maybe to find a way to reverse the destruction?).

“Sometimes they gave silver briefs to Norrin so he'd look less naked.”
That was generally the case in his early appearances (though not in his first appearances in the Galactus Trilogy), seems they stopped doing that by the early 80s.
Other characters who seemed to have a coating like the Surfer or were inhuman like Fin Fang Foom got the trunks treatment in the same era as well.

Like clockwork youtube is throwing a fit about "MsheU" surfer like we won't ever get the 616 version... >_>

Mileena MadnessI imagine, if they go the Mystique route, those complaints will soon disappear.
We have an image for 4-4 day. And LOOK AT THAT CITY!
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.
Seems like they're abandoning Cap 4 and Thunderbolts, to push the FF hype? OR maybe that's just what's reaching this thread, lol.
They really are doing a separate universe!
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Between this and John Krasinski in Multiverse of Madness, it's starting to look like Fantastic Four don't actually exist in Earth-616.
I guess that makes sense, and between that and the multiversal X-Men shenanigans recently, it gives Marvel a reason to lean into Kang or some other multiversal Big Bad.
Trust no one.It would have been easy to say they got stuck in Negative Zone but that would be too similar to Antman...
Mileena MadnessThat Xmen movie be looking really fine when set in another universe…
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down.It is harder to suddenly have the Fantastic Four and X-Men pop up all of a sudden
If there’s a benefit to a multiversal saga, it’s that you can have the Fantastic Four and X-Men be established things in their own universes since the big crossovers are going to bridge universes anyway
I think maybe people would have cared more about the multiverse sooner if one of these big projects came out sooner
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI hope the plot isn't something like 'Galactus eats their Earth so they have to relocate, and Dr. Doom comes along too.'
The Protomen enhanced my life.Be cool that since the FF are established, Doom already is their nemesis. He can even show up for a bit of the movie to help with the planet-eating threat. But that probably means you wont get him as a big villain for awhile.
Pantheon server for all who click here. Freaking lost $410 and I am hunting down for a nuke to reign down. They probably won't make them Failure Heroes like that in their first movie.
I could see something like... they save their Earth from Galactus and then its gets blown up by an incursion in the Stinger though.
If FF is another universe it looks more and more like Secret Wars will do the 2015 thing and merged them together to in-universe retcon in the FF and X-Men.

That’s my guess too
Crisis on Finite Battleworld merges all the relevant universes into one
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt would be kind of ironic to be introduced to a variant of Reed Richards who has to live in another universe after his home world was destroyed, after previously meeting a Reed Richards who put our Doctor Strange on trial for accidentally entering his universe.
Trust no one.
they most likely will just use cgi I feel
