Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

The world is not ready.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Maybe not our world...but the world of Klyntar is!
BRING US PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN! WE NEED HIM!!!
Trust no one.The best part is I can absolutely 100% imagine a hulking Venom with a JJJ moustache and a vest shaking his fists out whatever klyntar have for windows, ranting about threats and menaces.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. In a battle of the wills (I assume this is how Venom works, I don't actually know much about the character), Jameson would absolutely dominate the Venom parasite. At that point, it would be more about Venom trying to wrest free from Jameson instead of the other way around.
I'm only half joking.
The poor parasite is nothing in the face of Jonah's pure unbridled fury.
Like, anyone remember Animorphs? Where the villains were mind controlling alien leeches? Except that one Yeerk who took control over a teenage girl, only to discover that she was so damn insane that she mostly took over it? That's how I imagine Venom Jonah. The symbiote wants to conquer, but what it wants doesn't matter. They've got an early edition to run.
I'm actually genuinely shocked that Jonah's never been venomized before. Everyone and their grandma's been freaking venomized before. Almost literally - there's even a cover of Venom Aunt Freaking May out there (it's a joke cover, but still).

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.J. Venom Jameson actually would be a really cool idea, even if it's just a What If scenario.
Take a man who hates Spider-Man with a passion and fuse him with a Symbiote, and there's so many different directions you can go in.
Would Jameson embrace the Symbiote? Fight back? Would Spidey have to try to get through to a guy he actively dislikes?
Oh damn, yes I do remember that Animorphs story. Applying that to Jonah would be really dope!

Trust no one.Symbiotes being overwhelmed by their hosts is even canon in the comics. Carnage infamously is a symbiote who was more or less completely dominated by its first host, Serial Killer Cletus Kasady. It's a bit mutual — Cletus and the symbiote don't even differentiate between themselves anymore.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIndeed. Which is why I was surprised that Venom: Let There Be Carnage didn't go with that interpretation as the character.
I mean, I'm not super upset or anything since that movie was just a dumb popcorn flick, but it's still a weird choice.
Trust no one.The movie reversed the dynamic for some reason so Cletus and the Carnage symbiote aren't that close with Cletus only having romantic eyes for Shriek.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."They wanted Carnage and Cletus to contrast with the romantic vibes of Venom and Eddie.
You can't have that if Cletus overwhelms Carnage.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Well... you could. But that's a very different type of relationship.
An insider stated that the new Fantastic Four movie will take place in an alternate universe.
That would solve one timeline issue for sure XD
The Protomen enhanced my life. The question then is whether it's a team from the MCU that have been trapped in another universe, or if they're coming from another universe originally and crossing into the MCU. The former is more interesting in my opinion.
It's less that Cletus overwhelmed Carnage and more that a symbiote's first host leaves a massive impression on them. Canonically, all hosts leave an imprint but Cletus bonding to a seconds old symbiote molded Carnage's personality instead of overriding it.
#IceBearForPresidentAfter all the retcons, who is Venom’s first host now?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell...Deadpool got Venom before Spider-Man according to a dubiously canon comic.
Beyond that, I don't know.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. Some Kree guy I know. The one whose brain dead corpse Sleeper piloted around before trading up to a cat
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhat said. Pending another retcon, a Kree soldier named Tel-Kar is currently Venom's first host.
#IceBearForPresidentIt’s funny that they’ve added at least two prior hosts for Venom in a “see, Peter didn’t fuck up an impressionable alien, those guys did” way
IF the chekovs gun of left behind venom goo does lead to a black suit arc, I’m interested in how that will add to the discussion of previous hosts shaping a symbiote. Movie Venom and Eddy have a pretty healthy relationship actually.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf the MCU wants to do a real baller move, they say that the left behind symbiote isn't Venom. They instead say it's Mania.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersJ. Jonah Jameson: "So, nothing's changed."

Wait! I have an idea for Spider-Man'd next greatest nemesis.
J. Venom Jameson.
Trust no one.
