Hey Digimon is one of those narm charm songs that just...work.

My problem with the dub music is that, after later hearing the Japanese music, I was actively angry that I was robbed of the Japanese music as a child.

Yeah, Brave Heart is a much better song than the normal Theme Music Power-Up from the dubs XD

I REALLY feel for you. And not in a condescending way. I really feel for everyone who feels robbed of a faithful dub of anything ever.

We didnt get a One Piece redub until recently.

Oh yeah. The 4Kids dub was so bad.

The latin american dub was even worse. So much for Mexico being the place with the best dubs.

Yeah, nobody speaks of 4Kids' One Piece, it's the cursed dub.

Let's pretend it never happened and move on with our lives.

Man I’m reminded of Shaman King’s English OP & shit that song was dope.

Plus I just love referring to the main villain by his dub name.

Too bad that 4kids didnt finish their uncut dub. They kept the dub names in their uncut Yu Gi Oh dub so you could have had your Zeke AND a truer to the original experience.

EDIT: A quick glance at the Japanese credits on Digimon shows that Sora was the co-lead! She is credited after Tai(Chi) but before Yamato (Matt). How the mighty have fallen.

Indeed instead of watching a show with a guy called Zeke you’d just watched a show with a guy called Hao.

So different, it be like switching to vanilla ice cream after previously eating a lighter shade of vanilla ice cream.

No, I meant that EVEN the uncut Shaman King dub would have called him Zeke, because all 4kids did is remove the censorship and visual edits plus adding the japanese soundtrack and called that an uncut dub.

Sure the dub didnt get to Zeke Hao (Sieg Hao! lol) but I think that is what they would have done. I heard the Sat AM dub was pretty damn dark and violent tho. So I dont know if there is much of a true difference.

Then how come on Matt's digimon always got new evolutions before hers? And T.K also had the bonus of saving it for last and always doing something epic. I don't really remember Sora standing out that much compared to the other kids.

On Shaman King, oh boy would I like some studio to revisit that series. Like, if Bones could get that and also run right through into Flowers/Super Star. It'll never happen, but it should.

As far as dub themes actually being good, Digimon Frontier's theme was pretty darn good.

I’m conflicted bout a Shamn King remake.

I just have kind of a problem with how the manga ends in Zeke winning & getting everything he wants.

It’s why I prefer the anime ending where he’s treated as the villain he is & wiped off the face of the planet.

The manga's ending is less about Hao winning and more about convincing Hao that humanity is worth keeping around.

Man that is a scary-ass ending.

The fanatical genocider basically gains unbeatable Godlike power & the only hope for the heroes now is to practically beg him to not kill them all basically going "We're not all bad" with a perpetual gun to the face.

I've heard that the author made the villain in question so overpowered he literally couldn't think of a satisfying ending, but I'm not sure how true that is.

Some people, including myself, are concerned the same might happen with Berserk.

Kishimoto ran into the same problem with Madara from Naruto.

All of them were obviously influenced by Freiza breaking the mold for Japanese villains at the time due to not being a Monster of the Week affair like in previous Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Shonen Jump Properties before Dragon Ball (And to a lesser extent, Fist of the North Star with Raoh).

Great Spirit Hao is great.

Creating a Saint Seiya tier character in a series thats barely stronger then Yu Yu Hakusho was kind of a bad idea, though.

In Berserk, if you're unfamiliar with it, the main group of villains, including the main character's nemesis who becomes a demon lord, have the ability to literally edit fate so they always win. I've actually encountered people who have argued that they want the series to have a Downer Ending because they can't think of any way around a power like that that wouldn't seem like an Ass Pull.

I disagree about the ending but am still concerned about asspulls.

Eh, seeing the latest developments, I can see how that part may be circumverted; Griffith having to share his mortal body with the Moonchild will probably be significant.

Just wanted to say I still find the soundtrack to Digimon the Movie very enjoyable to this day.

I have a love hate relationship with that "movie". I love some of the dub jokes and moments but I wanted to see the originals as they were.

It was the early 2000’s.
